Star Wars: In a Galaxy – Watching all the Star Wars we can get our hands on.
In a Galaxy is BACK! In the first episode of Season 11 of Star Wars: In a Galaxy, Eli and Jacob discuss the 70-minute series premiere of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, "Aftermath". Among their discussion: – The Bad Batch's portrayal in this vs. The Clone Wars. – Omega is fantastic and we love her. – Should the alleged "retconning" of the Kanan: The Last Padawan comic matter? – Order 66, again. – Crosshair's turn to the "Dark Side". Predictable? Yes. Executed well? Also yes. – The various appearances of Saw Gerrera throughout the Star Wars timeline. – The brutality of the Galactic Empire. – Facist propaganda at its worst. The next episode of Star Wars: In a Galaxy will release on October 7, 2022. The Bad Batch has debuted and within the first few minutes, we are introduced to a young Kanan Jarrus, or rather his real name, Caleb Dume. We get to witness Order 66 through his eyes and the eyes of this master, Depa Billaba. But did you know his origin story has already been told in the comics and that it's much different than in the show? In 2015 a short run comic series, Star Wars: Kanan, followed the story of the young padawan on how he escaped the Jedi purge and came to be Kanan Jarrus. David and Hannah discuss volume 1 of this series and what it means to have two different stories of the same situation. For more Star Wars content visit insidetheforce.com. In 2014, Lucasfilm "redefined" the canon, or official continuity, of Star Wars. One of the earliest new canon products was the comic series Kanan: The Last Padawan. This was the story of Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars Rebels, and how he escaped Order 66 as a young man and set off on his own in a galaxy that had turned against the Jedi. Recently, the first episode of The Bad Batch retold the story of Kanan surviving Order 66, but told it in a completely different way than in the comic. This begs the question: how are we to make sense of this discrepancy? Join me as I share my thoughts. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pageturnerstheywerenot/support

In the world of dramatic television animation there's few creators as revered as Greg Weisman. Chances are good you know his work: Gargoyles, Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, or perhaps you hung out with us last year for the Greg Weismanathon when we watched over 8 hours of Weisman-penned cartoons. Enter: Rain of the Ghosts - a creator-owned project, and a startling new world that need your help if it's to come to life. Rain of the Ghosts is a novel series following the paranormal adventures of Rain Cacique, an island girl in a tourist town where all is not what it seems. Two out of the proposed nine books are out and now Greg is crowdfunding the creation of an audioplay featuring an insane cast of 20 actors - from Demona (Marina Sirtis) to Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings). Join Cap and Tony as they discuss the novel series and the audioplay with Greg and voice actor Eric Lopez, aka Young Justice's Blue Beetle. We also hear about Greg's experience working on Star Wars Rebels, his current comic series Kanan: The Last Padawan, as well as Eric's favorite current comics, how he got the gig voicing Blue Beetle, and what would happen if Greg was given supreme comic dominion.
