SPOILERS: If you haven't yet read the High Republic Into the Dark novel just skip this episode as we have spoilers. We introduce a new species design called the drengir which happen to be a terrifying and malicious factor in the high republic and potentially play a part in the downfall of the Jedi (at least we think so). Shout out to all of the evil species in the Star Wars universe.

Time for another set of High Republic books. First up is The Rising Storm. The Nihil are still rampaging through the galaxy, and the Drengir are destroying all life on any planet they land on. What does the chancellor decide to do? Why throw a huge and expensive galactic fair of course. Because there's no way that could go wrong. Shockingly it goes really wrong, and it's up the Jedi to try and save the day. But not all of them come out unscathed. It's probably time for the Jedi to rethink their relationship with the Republic. The Skywalker saga may be over, but there are enough books to keep Star Wars fans satisfied for years to come. Chad, Ryan, and Beth have started a series to keep you up to date on all the action. Self doubt, fear of failure and lack of confidence is pervading not just The High Republic #7 but its protagonist, Jedi Keeve Trennis, as she battles demons within and without while encountering those who are lost, including a former Jedi mentioned in Cavan Scott's audiodrama "Dooku: Jedi Lost," not to mention a certain Wayseeker. In Star Wars #15, Starlight Squadron returns to the fore in a rip-roaring issue filled with aerial and ground fighting between the struggling Rebel Alliance and a menacing, seemingly overconfident Empire.Star Wars Adventures #7 pops with vibrant storytelling and art thanks to the talents of Sam Maggs, Liana Kanga, Brittany Peer, Johanna Nattalie, Landry Walker and Nick Brokenshire as readers are treated to a Luke and Leia story that shows sides of the twins seldom seen, while the Crimson Corsair makes his return, with a rollicking story that evokes 2000 AD comics, swashbucklers and so much more.In news, Charles Soule reveals January's "Eye of the Storm" mini-series focused on Marchio Ro, Nick Brokenshire's SDCC-only cover is a sellout and more.Upcoming Star Wars comics include:Aug. 4Bounty Hunters #15War of the Bounty Hunters: 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1 (One-Shot)Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Marvel Years, Vol. 5 TPBAug. 11The High Republic #8War of the Bounty Hunters #3 (of 5)The Monster of Temple Peak #1 (of 4)Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills MangaDoctor Aphra (Vol. 2), Vol. 2, “The Engine Job” TPBAug. 14 (Free Comic Book Day)Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Free Comic Book Day IssueThe High Republic: The Edge of Balance/Guardians of the Whills FCBD IssueAug. 18Star Wars Adventures #8Star Wars #16The High Republic Adventures #7War of the Bounty Hunters #3 (of 5)Aug. 25Darth Vader #15Doctor Aphra #13The High Republic, Vol. 1, “There Is No Fear” TPBSept. 1The High Republic Adventures #8Doctor Aphra #14The High Republic #9Sept. 8The High Republic: Edge of Balance (Manga)The Monster of Temple Peak #2 (of 4)War of the Bounty Hunters #4 (of 5)Star Wars Adventures #9Sept. 15Darth Vader #16War of the Bounty Hunters — Boushh #1Sept. 22Ghosts of Vader's Castle #1 (of 5)Bounty Hunters #16Sept. 29Star Wars #17Star Wars Adventures #10Ghosts of Vader's Castle #2 (of 5)Oct. 6Star Wars Adventures: Smuggler's Run TPBThe High Republic — Trail of Shadows #1 (of 5)The High Republic Adventures #9War of the Bounty Hunters #5 (of 5)Ghosts of Vader's Castle #3 (of 5)Oct. 13Star Wars #18Doctor Aphra #15War of the Bounty Hunters — IG-88 #1Ghosts of Vader's Castle #4 (of 5)Oct. 20Ghosts of Vader's Castle #5 (of 5)Star Wars Adventures #11Darth Vader (Vol. 2) OmnibusDarth Vader #17The High Republic #10Oct. 27Bounty Hunters #17The Monster of Temple Peak #3 (of 4)Nov. 3Star Wars Legends: Rise of the Sith OmnibusNov. 10Darth Vader (Vol. 3), Vol. 3 TPB (Collects #12-16)Star Wars Legends Boba Fett: Blood Ties TPBThe High Republic Adventures, Vol. 1, TPBStar Wars Episodes IV-IX Adaptation Box Set (IDW)Nov. 17Star Wars (Vol. 3), Vol. 3 TPB (Collects #13-18)Nov. 24Bounty Hunters, Vol. 3, TPB (Collects #12-17)War of the Bounty Hunters TPB (Collects Alpha #1, War of the Bounty Hunters 1-5)War of the Bounty Hunters Companion TPB (Collects Jabba, IG-88, Boushh, 4-LOM & Zuckuss)Star Wars Adventures (Vol. 2), Vol. 1, “The Light & the Dark” TPBNov. 30Star Wars: The High Republic, Vol. 2, TPB (Collects #6-10)Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2), Vol. 3, TPB (Collects #11-15)Dec. 8Star Wars (Vol. 3), Vol. 3, “War of the Bounty Hunters,” TPBThe High Republic, Vol. 2, “The Heart of Drengir” TPBAttack of the Clones Graphic Novel Adaptation from IDWDec. 15Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2), Vol. 3, “War of the Bounty Hunters” TPBMarch 2Star Wars Legends: The Empire Omnibus, Vol. 1

This week I reflect on the first arc of Cavan Scott's High Republic comic run. Building off its (ironic?) title, I explore the ways that Keeve, Sskeer and the Jedi Order as a whole are confronted with the fears emerging from new Dark Side threats: the threat of the Drengir to be sure, but especially the threats within themselves. For the Pull List segment in this comics-focused episode, I discuss the fact that Solo 2 probably isn't happening, at least for now. Ok I mainly go into War of the Bounty Hunters #1 and its incredible character reveal. Thanks for listening, and MTFBWY Twitter @neug485 Instagram @mneug1138 Church blog luminous-beings.com Show art from the cover of High Republic #5 by Phil Noto.
The High Republic comic reveals that, when the Jedi released the Drengir in Into the Dark, they released a very specific one - one that causes a whole lot of bad news, but that could also be the key to stopping the threat.

This week we dive into the newest villains revealed by StarWars.com for The High Republic era: The Drengir and The Nihil. Who are these creatures? Are they force-sensitive? And what about the Nihil? What kind of threat do these new villains pose to golden age Jedi? We also discuss and speculate about what has happened so far in The Mandalorian Season 2 and what the future could possibly hold!
On this week's podcast, The Mandalorian saves us all! With the return of the series to Disney+, we finally get some new Star Wars content to discuss! We also get to talk a little more about The High Republic's villains: the Drengir, and more on the Nihil, led by Marchion Ro. To top it all off, we talk more about the Razor Crest from HasLabs, and make some guesses as to what Mando Monday has in store for us. Like Twin Suns on a womp rat's ass, we're back! Enjoy the podcast!
