If a person identifies with an ethnicity society has this weird expectations that this person must act like their ethnicity. If they do not they are labeled as not enough. For people who attend or grow up in predominantly white areas, this is a common frustration. In societies terms speaking "proper" means you sound white. Society continues to put black people in boxes and not wanting them to express themselves in individualistic ways. If you act "too Black" then you are deemed ghetto and ethnic. If you act "too white" you are not black. This topic could be written into a whole book series. It is a very frustrating situation to deal with. "Compliments" such as "you speak well" or "you are pretty for a black girl" are not compliments and they are rooted in racism. This is just my experience but I know its something many can relate to. This episode will incorporate touches of sarcasm or humor (because that's my personality), but I do want to give a ***gentle trigger warning*** that this episode seeks to progress the dialogue about creative ways of coping with suicidal ideation for those who live with mental struggles long term but may feel more hopeless and suicidal during the holidays/New Year. ***Edit/Important note: Please use headphones (: Audio quality in this past episode was due to an old mic, but the quality is much now better with my new mic from episodes 19 and up (Thank goodness)! Hello everyone! Welcome to another episode! This episode, I am talking about how to deal with your sexual energy during this time of isolation. I know that if you're feeling those powerful feelings, that it's totally fine and that doesn't mean that you're a weirdo. You are a flourishing, human! Sex is a very natural thing to be feeling! I decided to invest in my very own rose quartz dildo! So that will be a very fun experience I'm sure! The second segment is all about what I wrote in my blog about social distancing, as well as what I've been doing. I always say that when I talk to you, I always feel like it's a personal blog! As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, dreams, goals, things they would have differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years! I’m so happy to welcome Kelly Stamps to the show today! Kelly lives in northwest Arkansas and is a wife, momma, blogger, and matchmaker (yes, you read that right)! Kelly and I reflect back to 2010 when Kelly was transitioning from the workplace to being a stay at home mom. In this new rhythm of life, she began blogging as an outlet, and it opened doors to several things – including helping singles find each other! Kelly tells us she set up her first Single’s Day on a whim, and now it has become a part of her ministry she hosts every year! Kelly and I also talk about singleness and feeling seen and known by the church. I hope each one of us will remember Kelly’s encouragement that no matter our lane in life looks like, it’s important!
