This is the next episode in the Understanding Menopause series and today I am chatting about the role that your liver plays in keeping your hormones balanced and you looking and feeling great. Most women don't realise the importance of optimal liver function when it comes to balancing their hormones. This is something that most doctors don't talk about probably because they don't fully understand the link between your liver and your hormones, or they simply don't think that it is important enough to talk about. Most women understand that the liver is where you get rid of toxins from your body, but it also plays an important role in the manufacture of new hormones and the break down of old hormones. You could say that your liver is a manufacturing and re-cycling plant all in one. How amazing is that! Some of the common signs that your liver is not functioning at an optimal level are: - Weight gain - Foggy headedness - Skin rashes - Digestive issues - Hot flushes and night sweats - Sleep problems - Joint pain - Hormone imbalances particularly oestrogen dominance When you look at this list you might notice that there is a lot of similarity with the common symptoms associated with menopause. One of the most common culprits that causes issues with stops your liver from functioning optimally is alcohol consumption. This is something that many women don't want to hear, but unfortunately it is true. Your liver's ability to breakdown and excrete alcohol declines as you go through your menopause transition, this results in many of the symptoms that you might be experiencing. In Traditional Chinese Medicine liver meridian time is between 1-3am. If you find yourself waking at this time with night sweats, wanting to go to the bathroom, tossing and turning then this is a sign that your liver is not functioning optimally. Of course, alcohol is not the only culprit here, medications and exposure to toxic chemicals can also play a role. If you think that your liver might be playing a role in your symptoms your first step is to consider your alcohol intake and any other chemicals that you might be exposing your body to. Eating a diet high in vegetables and lots of water will also help with your detoxification pathways. If weight gain is one of your most troubling concern about your menopause transition why not grab a free copy of my ebook The Secret to Getting Rid of Your Meno-belly where I share the other reasons (besides your liver) that are playing a role in the unexplained weight gain. You can download your free copy HERE. That's all for this week and next week I will be back with another fantastic guest. Please leave a rating a review wherever you are listening to the podcast, this helps other women find this information. Or why not share the podcast with a friend who you think would like to learn more about what is happening with her body as she moves through her menopause transition. The more women who have this information the better the world will be.
Why do we have excuses? When you really think about it, the excuse is usually there before we even start working, there is no real reason we shouldn't do it, we just don't want to. Excuses are the topic of conversation this week on Thriving Women Artists. Join Ping, Sarah, and Dorien as they discuss why they make excuses and how you can get rid of them to focus on your work. KEY TAKEAWAYS One of the biggest reasons for making excuses is anxiety. We don't want to start something because if we start it then there's a chance we might fail. Envisioning what she wants to get done beforehand helps Ping overcome making excuses for not working. When you know your excuses are just trying to stop you working because you might fail or be overwhelmed, you should challenge those thoughts, remember that even if it's not perfect, it's part of the process and you have learned something. Procrastination is just one form of making excuses. Making excuses for too long can make you angry and frustrated and that just ends up being counterproductive. It's good to speak out loud about your goals. Having other people who know what you need to be doing makes you accountable. BEST MOMENTS ‘The project starts way before the artwork' ‘The only way to get better is by doing it' ‘You need to have accountability' ‘Accountability to myself is the most important' ABOUT THE PODCAST A serious and fun podcast for female creatives hosted by Ping, Dorien and Sarah, three happy artists from Amsterdam. In the last of four parts, we present an audiobook version of The Housing Monster, written by an anonymous construction worker for the website prole.info. The Housing Monster is a scathing illustrated essay that takes one seemingly simple, everyday thing—a house—and looks at the social relations that surround it. Moving from intensely personal thoughts and interactions to large-scale political and economic forces, it reads alternately like a worker's diary, a short story, a psychology of everyday life, a historical account, an introduction to Marxist critique of political economy, and an angry flyer someone would pass you on the street. Starting with the construction site and the physical building of houses, the book slowly builds and links more and more issues together: from gentrification and city politics to gender roles and identity politics, from subcontracting and speculation to union contracts and negotiation, from individual belief, suffering, and resistance to structural division, necessity, and instability. What starts as a look at housing broadens into a critique of capitalism as a whole. This episode includes: Part Three: Pushing, Pulling and Breaking - Chapter 1: Notes on the Class Struggle - Chapter 2: Collective Living - Chapter 3: The Unions - Chapter 4: Rent Control and State Housing - Chapter 5: The Second World - Chapter 6: Getting Rid of Monsters Go to prole.info to access the illustrated ebook. Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. Another week, another episode of the I-70 football show. In this weeks episode the guys open the show discussing playoff basketball as the Celtics blow out the Bucks and the Mavs were up big on the Suns. Dante discusses watching a new anime and we get into the future of streaming giants Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max. This is a pivotal summer for college football and the NCAA, the Big Ten included. With legislation set to pass that will get rid of the rule that determines conferences with more then 12 teams must play a round robin schedule or have divisions to host a conference championship game. Will the Big Ten capitalize on this rule and get rid of their uneven divisions? The guys answer this question and more with TV rights and playoff expansion on the horizon. In their weekly pit stops, Jordan discusses James Harden being washed and not helping the 76ers in the playoffs. After taking two shots in the second half of a must win game seven should the 76ers regret the trade? Dante celebrates the NFL schedule release and highlights the NFL teams with the best announcements.. In this episode of the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr discuss the recent recommendations from the NCAA Oversight Committee regarding temporarily unlimited recruiting classes, and also conference championship game requirement changes. Both recommendations are expected to pass and would mean a two-year waiver on the 25-scholarship cap, as well as a removal of the rules that dictate how conference championship games are determined. This will then free up conferences to do away with divisions and simply have their two best teams play in their respective conference title games. (Ex: Ohio State vs. Michigan for the Big Ten Championship.)Could the Big Ten be on the verge of doing this? And if so, is it a good thing? The fellas discuss all the scenarios and situations that could be involved in such a major change. Before that, however, they discuss the opening odds on conference champions for 2022 and try to decide to best plays to spend some make-believe money.

Simple Solutions Fast Fix for Stripped Screw Holes — Here's a quick and clever way to fix a stripped screw hole using a cable tie (a.k.a.: zip-tie). First, remove the screw from the stripped hole, then snip off the end of a cable tie, which is smooth. For this tip, you need to use the ridged part of the cable tie. Press the snipped end of the cable tie into the hole until it bottoms out. Then, cut the cable tie to length, matching the depth of the screw hole. Put the piece of cable tie into the stripped screw hole, then drive in the screw. The ridges in the cable tie give the screw something to bite into, securely holding the screw in place. Homemade furniture polish — Make an affordable, nontoxic furniture polish by mixing 1 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil, and 1/8 cup of lemon juice. Pour the solution into a plant mister and spray it onto wood surfaces. Rub in circles with a dry cotton cloth to remove dust, dirt and grime. Then, use a second cloth to polish the surface in straight lines parallel with the direction of the wood grain. Remove scratches by rubbing with walnut.
