QUOTE of the Day: Our spinal cord is literally central to our experience of being alive. - Dr. Joie Mazor In this episode of “My Love of Life Energy,” I am honored to be speaking with Dr. Joie who is a Network Chiropractor at Sojourn Wellness Center in California. Her work has deeply transformed my life. I am thankful for the feeling of love, spaciousness, curiosity, and wonder and I'm certain you will feel it too. Dr. Joie Mazor DC is a mover and a shaker. The story goes that she danced right out of the womb. She has spent her life immersed in the art of communication through movement. Whether it be dance or a variety of somatic bodywork modalities, Dr. Joie is committed to creating deeper connection and aliveness for individuals and our whole community. Dr. Joie's first experience with Network Care was when she was 7 years old. She knew then that she liked how peaceful her family was after getting adjusted together. (And it was fun to hop up on the table.) She was re-introduced to Network and Re-Organizational Healing in 2009. This time she was running a busy bodywork practice within a wellness center offering Re-Organizational Healing. What Dr. Joie saw was dancing merged with healing, and terrific results. She noticed that the people in her bodywork practice who were also under Network Care were achieving fluid, efficient and complex improvements- well beyond anything they'd ever thought possible. Dr. Joie was compelled to take the next step and become a Network Practitioner herself. Dr. Joie graduated with clinical and academic honors from Life West in 2014 and has been enjoying practice ever since! “Being healthy is not just the state of one person's body, but truly is measured by the whole interconnected web of life.” For more information on Dr. Joie Mazor please visit: www.SojournWellness.com -- I am Wisdom Business Coach for entrepreneurial spirited people who want to make their dreams become a reality. A new movie version of West Side Story is hitting theaters this week. The musical, which tells a story of romance and rivalry between white and Puerto Rican gangs in New York City, first opened on Broadway in 1957. The story of warring youth gangs turned out to be prophetic. Just a month before the musical opened, the city was stunned by the brutal murder of a teenager from Washington Heights named Michael Farmer. Today on the podcast, a real life West Side Story. This story originally aired on NPR in 2007. *** Support Radio Diaries as part of our year-end fundraiser! Blake is often thought of as a quiet person. Put a strong cup of good coffee in him and he becomes a chatter box. Although quiet on the surface his brain is always engaged and bounces from thought to thought. If you ask him his greatest accomplishment in life. It would be his role as Dad. Blake has two amazing children. He has spent countless hours flying on airplanes and traveling the world with his pro-surfer son. They have chased waves from California to Europe, Mexico, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and countless other destinations. He's the proud dad of a daughter who's strong and independent with a passion for dance.Blake's professional life began in the movie business doing lighting for movies and TV shows. During this time period he would balance working on set with cultivating his passion for writing. His day would typically begin at 3am. He honed his craft for writing screenplays while also working on the set of movies. Over the years he amassed a collection of ten screenplays and a children's book along with having his poetry published many times.Once his children were born he chose to quit the movie business and focus on his kids. This was truly an amazing time in his life and a true gift from the universe. He is truly grateful to have had so much time with his children while they were growing up.There's an adventurous spirit that lives within his soul. He's been riding motorcycles since he could walk. He's raced motocross, hare n' hounds and spent days riding across the Mojave Desert and camping under the stars. His rides across the USA have taken him through blizzards, tornadoes, and across the Arctic circle. His passion for life was dimmed one day when he encountered a stroke. It was as if a light switch had been turned off. This experience was beyond humbling and fueled his passion for living even more. He's not only physically strong but he's mentally fit. The stroke tested his will and mental fortitude. He kept the event private with only a few friends knowing about his mental capacity. He was challenged by the everlasting question of; how are you feeling? His focus was on healing and getting his memory back. He didn't want the constant reminder of what had happened. His physical self is truly one hundred percent. His mental self is challenged occasionally with loss of memory. He is extremely grateful to be where he is today on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.Blake's typical day begins at 4am with an awesome cup of coffee, splashed with cream while spending some quiet time with his two dogs. He works out with free weights, resistance bands, hikes with his dogs and tries to surf every day. He believes that keeping active mentally and physically is the key to happiness. He's 55 years old and with each and every wave he surfs, he strives to ride the next one better than the last. He truly feels blessed for his amazing life. a link to blake's audiobook in the meantime. Although He classifies it as fiction, the spiritual adventure, all stories are true. A conversation dedicated to wellness Dr. Geoff Huls was seriously injured physically and emotionally in an automobile collision in 1999. This crash caused multiple contusions, fractures and killed two of his friends. A broken back and fractured leg forced him to walk with crutches followed by several months using a cane. It was a tragic part of his life that will forever be an influence on who he is and what he stands for. His wellness journey started with accepting that he was not invincible. It sent him on a quest for knowledge and eventually led him to Chiropractic College, where he was introduced to Dr. James Chestnut and the Wellness Certification he holds through Life West & the International Chiropractic Association. The First21 was created to be your first steps on a lifetime journey of health and wellness. Based on the principle that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, the First21 works by making things simple. It splits the complexity of wellness into doable health challenges to be carried out over habit-forming periods of time. These challenges are meant to be repeated to help you continually improve, maintain or even to get you back on track. The First21 is your friend. It's your simple, healthy, achievable new habit. And it's just within your reach! In this fun podcast episode, we get to know Dr. Jon Baker, who practiced for 30 years in California, opening nine satellite clinics in the early 90s and helping several DCs and their families impact many lives. Dr. Baker has been a supporter of Sherman College, Life West, and Mile High for the last several years, as he sees that we need to focus our attention and energy and helping True Chiropractic thrive. Join us at Mile High commit early and save at www.milehighchiroregistrations.com One of the things that I appreciate about him is he believes we can truly make a difference as humans and chiropractors by being great examples of people who always and in all ways lead by example and follow by choice. He wants to see chiropractic delivered in such a way that people understand it so it can positively change the world in many ways. His message is to the profession to stop just being different and truly make a difference. A few things that are central to Dr. Baker's values, that are important for doctors of chiropractic and students to move towards in terms of success is that he determined early, when he looked around the profession, there wasn't as much happiness, health, passive income, net worth, and light at the end of the tunnel, as he wanted to see. Too often, chiropractors were working where they didn't have any freedom, they couldn't take vacation time, they couldn't be out of the office and they basically didn't have a business, they were self-employed people with jobs that were tied to their practice. We all love serving and seeing people's lives change through chiropractic, however when you're delivering the greatest healing art on the planet, it would be great to see you thriving as well as the people you're taking care of. As we discussed in this interview, to move your chiropractic practice to a business, his vision is you have to be able to leave the practice for six months, and it still run without you. A significant contributor to numerous charities, within and outside of chiropractic, Dr. Baker is making an impact on the better in the world, and when you hear about his project he's working on with X Ray corrective changes, you're going to find it very exciting. Have fun enjoying this interview, if you enjoy it please share it as well as give feedback online. He was awarded the Sherman College Chiropractor of the Year for 2016, due to his incredible relentless efforts to bring pure chiropractic message to the world. One of the highlights that I learned from this episode was that schools have streamed IFCO-TV and even canceled classes so people could watch and learn from it.
