On this episode Matt sits down with Martin Ball. Martin W. Ball, Ph.D., is a writer, independent publisher, nondual guide and consultant, visionary artist, and musician currently living in Ashland Oregon. In the spring of 2009 Martin underwent a profound energetic opening and transformation - the product of intensive work with entheogenic medicines and a year of profound self-exploration. The result is Martin's articulation of what he calls the "Entheological Paradigm," a Grand Unified Theory of all of reality from God to the direct experience of each human being, which he characterizes as an articulation of his view on “radical nonduality.” His approach is unique in that he sees the tension between duality and nonduality not as a spiritual or religious issue, but as an energetic issue that can best be addressed through the intentional use of powerful entheogens, such as 5-MeO-DMT. Today on Mushroom Hour, we have the honor of speaking with Martin Ball. Martin is a PhD, writer, independent publisher, energy worker, visionary artist, and musician. Martin earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara in Religious Studies with an emphasis on Native American traditions, Philosophy of Science and Religion, and the Phenomenology of Mystical and Shamanic Experience, as well as the role of entheogens in religious and spiritual experience. Our saga into psychedelic spheres of awareness takes us beyond the bounds of ordinary five-senses consciousness, into a world that our guest Martin Ball has explored extensively. His journey into entheogenic realms of psychedelic experience began with psilocybin containing mushrooms. His own explorations continued into other tryptamine-based psychedelics (like DMT) and led him to unique understandings of the energetic and non-dual nature of our reality. For Martin, the method for coming to understand the true nature of reality is through direct experience and self-exploration and entheogens provide unparalleled tools for self-exploration. As we peer through the lens of Martin's psychedelic-informed worldview, we see the wisdom of the phrase "All is one". Everything in reality is made from the same energy that is pulled from a firmament of raw consciousness, that Martin is comfortable calling "God". This unitary consciousness forms all elements of physical reality through an on-going process of energetic transformations and interactions that function according to basic mathematical and geometric laws. After a long break while Jonathan decompressed from a life-transforming experience with Martin W. Ball, in Ashland Oregon at the 3rd Annual Exploring Psychedelics Conference, We are BACK with another episode of the Psychedelic Parenting Podcast! This week's show is the 1st half of a 2-part interview with Zoe Helene of Amherst, MA. Today's show was recorded over a couple days last week, on 4/20 and Earth Day with Zoe Helene. In this episode, Jonathan and Zoe discuss the art of "Psychedelic Mentoring"as an important part of the emerging plant medicine culture in this country, and how even those without their own kids have an important job to do in raising the future members of the Psychedelic Society. Martin had this to say: "The State has the power to destroy your life. There's absolutely no question about that, and so the state is incredibly dangerous in that sense. And it's vindictive, it's misguided, it's built on illusion upon illusion upon illusion. The problem is that these illusions can still come to get you, even if they're illusions. It's a difficult call that ultimately people have to judge for themselves. But other other side of that is this: If no one stands up, nothing's going to change. Somone's got to do it. Personally, reality is more important than anything I might want to protect, such as my own personal well-being or comfort, so I'm not going to hide myself in any way. Although there are certain details I'll avoid discussing on podcasts. But if they really wanted me, the data is all right there. I'm all-in at this point. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and the last thing I want would be to be separated from them, and although prison would profoundly suck, I'm not going to edit myself in order to avoid something that I don't have any real certainty is actually going to happen. Reality will always win, eventually."
