In this episode of the podcast, Dr Margaret Ross join us, she is the Chief Principal Investigator for Australia’s first psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy study. A true clinical researcher, Dr Ross combines oversight of this ground-breaking trial with palliative care clinical work in her role as Senior Clinical Psychologist at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne.Prior to her work in the field of cancer care, Dr Ross’ focus was youth mental health, working as a research psychologist and clinical trial coordinator for The University of Melbourne and Orygen Youth Health.However, Dr Ross missed direct clinical work and felt drawn to cancer and palliative care. She thought her research days were behind her until she sought alternatives for her patients who were terrified of dying and experiencing existential distress in the face of their diagnosis.After seeing the compelling results of US-based research into the use of psilocybin assisted therapy for patients with existential distress in the face of terminal cancer, she assumed that a similar treatment would soon become an option within Australia. Our guest today is Fiona Shakeela Burns, she is an Integrative natural health consultant who specialises in helping people to recover their health using herbs and energy psychology treatments. She has twice recovered from stage 4 cancer using natural treatments combined with a small amount of specialised targeted treatment in Germany. As a child she had plasma cell leukaemia and sarcoma and then 31 years later, she had metastasised cervix cancer with a large tumour in the ovaries and some in the brain. In today's episode Kenneth (Kenny) Johnson joins us, he is the founder and director of This Sacred Space, a non-profit (501c3). He is also the author of book “The Last Hustle” which chronicles his journey as a street hustler, prisoner and finally a spiritual seeker.  This Sacred Space is dedicated to bringing spiritual awareness to all beings who are stuck in the prison of their minds. He provides inner spiritual healing for men and women behind bars and after their release, as well as their families. He also educates men and women that the true prison is in the mind and that through neuro-plasticity the brain is able to rewire itself, and rewrite the subconscious programming that keeps a person on the merry go round of recidivism.  This Sacred Space was born from Kenny’s experiences of being in prison for over 20 years.  He owes a deep gratitude to his spiritual teacher Gangaji who came into federal prison in September of 1994 and shared the life changing message of freedom.   He says that the fortuitous meeting in federal prison placed him on the path of self discovery, and the continual unraveling of story after story, after story.  Kenny has been out of prison since 1997. Our guest today is Brian Piergrossi, he is a coach, mentor, author, podcaster, healer, workshop facilitator and father.
