Artist and Musician Mason Douglas Talks New Music "I Miss America" Songwriting and More Hitmaker Mason Douglas is on a mission to cancel division with today's release of the new single and music video, “I MISS AMERICA.” The release is part of a promotional campaign designed to help spark conversations and bring us back together. You may have noticed digital billboards popping up in metro areas. The center of the campaign is the electric new “I MISS AMERICA” music video, which features comedy legend and former Saturday Night Live star Victoria Jackson, actress Kelsey Cooke and TikTok star & Groundlings alum Chris Guerra. Watch the I MISS AMERICA music video here: https://youtu.be/DITc_zNbjYI The singer-songwriter grew up with the traditional American ideals and values that stand out in his hit songs. An Air Force brat, his father flew F-4 missions in Vietnam, taught the next generation of pilots, and surrounded his family and friends with the “proud to be an American” fighter pilot mentality. Mason hopes that “I MISS AMERICA” will resonate with all Americans, regardless of political ideology, and help us all rediscover those ideals: tolerance and unity with America first. Says Mason: “Less fighting, more uniting. That's what we need." Mason's songwriting credits include Kid Rock's #1 hit “We the People,” in addition to Old Dominion, HARDY, Sam Hunt, John Schneider, Swon Brothers, Dylan Scott, Tenille Townes, Teddy Robb, Sweet Tea Trio, Lost Trailers, and many more. Mason is also the author of the pop-culture books, Now You Know Nashville and Secret Nashville, and is an active actor, most notably as the “Beverly sound guy” in multiple episodes of the hit series Nashville opposite Charles Esten. Mason Douglas gives music lovers an unforgettable performance. He's been compared to Chris Isaak and Garth Brooks, and some even say he's country music's Rob Thomas. On the roster at Rural Rhythm Records, Mason's debut disc "My Wild Heart" has done quite well, but the studio recordings just don't seem to capture the whole feel of a Mason Douglas show. We caught up with him at a recent benefit in town to talk about his style and music.
Bill Cody with Mason Douglas, recorded June 10, 2011 at WSM radio in Nashville. It was CMA Music Fest week in Nashville and Mason was in town for a gig at the Bluebird Cafe. For more on Mason, check out www.masondouglasmusic.com
Rebroadcast of a February 2011 interview with Mason Douglas.Putting everything you love back into Country Music”. That is what singer/songwriter Mason Douglas set out to do on his debut album “My Wild Heart” featuring “Anything Can Happen”. Mason’s fans have become addicted to his distinguished diversity, some saying he sounds like Chris Isaak with his signature, sexy falsettos; some saying Garth Brooks with his honesty and range; others even saying he’s “country music’s Rob Thomas”. Mason has spent his lifetime chasing country music before making his way to Nashville and grabbing it by the horns. Growing up an Air Force Brat in the deserts of Tucson, Arizona, he had his fair share of ranch life, fake ID’s, broken hearts, and country music on the airwaves. His mother taught him how to ride a horse, his father taught him dedication and persistence, his sister taught him how to sing, and few ex-girlfriends taught him how to write a song. He sifted through his parent’s record and tape collections, full of rodeo albums from Chris LeDoux and classics from George Strait, all of which he drew from when he started singing and playing guitar and finding new audiences throughout the southwest. A lot of Mason’s music drives the listener to understand that we are all presented with chance and challenge daily…and that we just have to laugh a little, enjoy the time we have, and face any adversity at full force. It’s been a long road from the deserts of southern Arizona to the bright lights of Nashville…but what a fun and amazing journey leading up to his debut album “MY WILD HEART” for singer / songwriter Mason Douglas! Mason records with Rural Rhythm Records, (800) 776-8742
