On this episode Tom is having a chat with Matthew O’Brien, the founder of Four PM. At the age of 19 Matthew decided to skip University education and move from Ireland to Canada, with just $500 in his pocket, to start his cannabis career. The risk paid off. Matthew worked his way up from a budtender at a dispensary to head of inventory for a whole chain of dispensaries. Matthew has since gone on to create Four PM, a daily newsletter designed for people who want to stay up to date on all the new developments within the cannabis industry. He shares his story with us and gives great tips for any European dreaming of moving to Canada or the US to start their cannabis career. He also shares some great insights into what he thinks will be the next big developments in the cannabis industry. Other topics discussed: - What is the role of a budtender? - Will the cannabis prohibition end any time soon? - How to climb the corporate ladder in the cannabis industry, and do it quickly? - The differences between small cannabis businesses and cannabis corporations. - What is Four PM? - Will we use cannabinoids other than CBD and THC? - The role of biosynthetics in the future of the cannabis industry. - Is the Sativa and Indica model of categorizing cannabis outdated? - How can cannabis brands educate their consumers? - What lessons on legalizing cannabis can Europe learn from Canada? - How could Ireland benefit from legalizing cannabis? - What can you do today to enter the cannabis industry? Terri Broussard Williams believes that leaders turn moments into movements. She also believes that anyone can be a great leader. Terri explains that movements can be as big as passing a law, building a church, or starting a nonprofit. They can also be as small as giving to someone in need, showing kindness, or helping students at a school get gym equipment. This podcast is here to help you with the HOW and WHY people build movements. I’ll break it down each time using the #FirestarterFormula which is: find your cause, build a community to help, communicate your vision, and work to see change. In each episode of this podcast, we take a look at one of the four pillars of the #MovementMakerTribe including philanthropy, policy change, movement-building, and the movement from within. Movement Maker: The Podcast, Season 2 is the second chapter of Terri Broussard Williams's popular social impact blog brought to life with audio. 347 Steps launched in the fall of 2007. The show originally was recorded in a 1920s-era, one-car garage. The cramped confines and lack of insulation led to numerous comedic discussions. During the winter of 2007-08, cast and guests found themselves bundled up in ski jackets and blankets as the nighttime temperature dropped into the 40s. In the summer of 2008, the show relocated its recording sessions across town to another garage, but one that had been converted into a tiki bar. Before moving into the tiki bar, listeners were given regular updates on the progress of building it. Many of the guests have been people with interesting side projects to their daily jobs. Some of the local guests have included a library assistant whos making a documentary film about local music, an engineer who works at Comic-Con International, and a park ranger who creates art projects,a pirate radio DJ, a paramedic, and a guy who sells surveillance equipment to foreign countries. 347Steps have also had on Actor/Producer Tim Reid, Comedian and friend of Sinatra, Tom Dreesen, Actor Tanna Frederick, Authors Sherri Devereau, Matthew O'Brien, The Laugh Factory's Jamie Masada. 347 Steps is available free to the public via its own web site as well as iTunes. Cast Members Doug Vannier The host of the show, and only non-Californian, who inexplicably gives listeners regular updates on Billy Idols career. Thom Brown The recording engineer who also presents special segments Musik Korner and Mind Maximizing Minute. Lee Oeth- Brings "Lee's Liquor Lounge" and he brings the beer every week!
