Sarah Mazouz est sociologue et chargée de recherches au CNRS. Dans son ouvrage Race, dans la collection « Le mot est faible » des éditions Anamosa, elle analyse l'histoire et l'usage de la notion critique de race en sociologie. En France, le mot est l'objet de nombreuses controverses et polémiques, dans le monde militant, politique mais aussi académique, presque un tabou. Le refus de parler de la race est ancré dans le poids de l'histoire, et dans l'universalisme abstrait qui est au fondement de la république française. Parler de race ce serait : être raciste, invisibiliser la classe sociale, se noyer dans des polémiques identitaires, ou succomber à une américanisation de la vie publique. Pourtant, analyser et débattre de la race est indispensable pour comprendre comment celle-ci est une construction sociale et historique, et un instrument de domination et de hiérarchisation. L'usage critique du mot race est aujourd'hui mobilisé pour combattre le racisme systémique, les processus d'assignation raciale ainsi que les discriminations qui, s'ils n'ont aucun ancrage « naturel », ont des effets bien réels. En effet, pour combattre le racisme il faut dépasser les questions de morale et l'idéologie raciste manifeste, pour aller regarder ce qui produit de l'altérité et de l'injustice, c'est à dire « la forme sédimentée, ordinaire et banalisée de l'assignation raciale, qui s'exprime dans une blague ou un compliment » Parler de race, c'est parler de privilèges et de préjudices, de la question du point de vue situé qui construit notre connaissance du monde, et de la condition de production des savoirs et de la norme. Sarah Mazouz est sociologue chercheuse au CNRS. Elle est l'autrice de La République et ses autres. Politiques de l'altérité dans la France des années 2000 (Lyon, ENS Éditions, 2017) et de Race (Paris, Anamosa, 2020). Elle a écrit avec Éléonore Lépinard Pour l'intersectionnalité (Paris, Anamosa, 2021).

L'enseignement du droit à l'Université se résume encore trop souvent à la formation au droit plus qu'à l'apprentissage d'un métier. Certes le nombre d'étudiants dans les années de licence et la crise COVID rendent difficile l'évolution de la pédagogie pour intégrer l'innovation, mais, dans un siècle ou le savoir est de plus en plus disponible et où l'individu doit sans cesse apprendre à apprendre, comment rendre cette évolution possible ? Nous avons donc interrogé des enseignants innovants et recevons Alicia Mazouz, Maitresse de conférences à la Catho de Lille – campus d'Issy les Moulineaux.

Sarah Mazouz est sociologue, chargée de recherches au CNRS. Sujet : Quel usage critique de la notion de « race » ? À propos du livre : «Race » paru aux Éditions Anamosa Les répercussions mondiales de la mort de George Floyd le 25 mai 2020 l'ont montré : plus que jamais il est utile de défendre un usage critique du mot race, celui qui permet de désigner et par là de déjouer les actualisations contemporaines de l'assignation raciale. User de manière critique de la notion de race, c'est décider de regarder au-delà de l'expression manifeste et facilement décelable du racisme assumé. C'est saisir la forme sédimentée, ordinaire et banalisée de l'assignation raciale et la désigner comme telle, quand elle s'exprime dans une blague ou un compliment, dans une manière de se croire attentif ou au contraire de laisser glisser le lapsus, dans le regard que l'on porte ou la compétence particulière que l'on attribue. C'est ainsi expliciter et problématiser la manière dont selon les époques et les contextes, une société construit du racial. Si le mot a changé d'usage et de camp, il demeure cependant tributaire de son histoire et y recourir de manière critique fait facilement l'objet d'un retournement de discrédit. Celles et ceux qui dénoncent les logiques de racialisation sont traité·es de racistes. Celles et ceux qui mettent en lumière l'expérience minoritaire en la rapportant à celle des discriminations raciales sont accusé·es d'avoir des vues hégémoniques. Dans le même temps, les discours racialisants continuent de prospérer sous le regard indifférent de la majorité. Si le mot de race sert à révéler, y recourir est donc d'autant plus nécessaire dans le contexte français d'une République qui pense avoir réalisé son exigence d'indifférence à la race et y être parfaitement " aveugle ", " colour-blind ", dirait-on en anglais.

Movie • David Mazouz Confirms Joker Is Coming to 'Gotham': The Clown Prince of Crime is coming to the small screen! Gotham fans have long been convinced that Jerome, played by Cameron Monaghan, was the young version of Batman's arch-nemesis, The Joker. However, on numerous occasions, both the cast and crew of Gotham have denied that the character is the Joker. Back in October, EP Bryan Wynbrandt told us that Jerome is simply the show's "homage" to the real Joker, and that his character would lay the groundwork for the evil character to come later. Many thought this meant that Joker would arrive in Bruce Wayne's life after the show had ended, but it now appears that's not the case. While speaking on Discussing Film's podcast this week, Gotham star David Mazouz confirmed that Jerome definitely wasn't the Joker, but went on to explain that the actual Joker was coming soon, and that Jerome's story is vital to the character's arrival. "He’s not the Joker, that’s all I’m saying," Mazouz began. "He’s definitely the inspiration for the Joker and the way that the Joker comes into the show is one of the most brilliant things Gotham has ever done." This helps explain why Jerome has been seen doing things like throwing Joker playing cards and asking to put a smile on someone's face. The character is laying the groundwork for something more terrifying to come. The Darkness was released in theaters in May 2016 and as of Sept, 9th 2016 will be available on home video. Australian actress Radha Mitchell ("Pitch Black", "Silent Hill", and "The Crazies") is the wife and mother, Bronny. Lucy Fry, as daughter Stephanie, might be recognized from "Vampire Academy", and she apparently played a mermaid once... David (Dah-veed) Mazouz who starred long side Keifer Sutherland in "Touch" and can now be seen as Bruce Wayne on "Gotham" plays the young autistic son, Mikey. Heading them all up is the dad, Pete, played by Kevin Bacon of, well.. Kevin Bacon fame. Directed by Greg McLean, whose previous work includes "Rogue", about a man eating crocodile, and "Wolf Creek" which concerned some back packers in the Australian outback terrorized by a sadistic local. McLean is also a member of Total Film Magazines Alan Jones', "Splat Pack"! This group made up with directors making brutally violent horror films. Some of the other members, Darren Lynn Bousman, Eli Roth, & Rob Zombie. Now with McLean at the helm, and with an actress not unfamiliar with the violent action film, you might think you'll be sitting down to a blood soaked scare-fest! Well, unless you happened to notice that the two writers in conjunction with McLean, Shayne Armstrong & Shane Krause, are the creators and writers for the 2009 "Doctor Who" spin-off series, "K-9". Now you might be thinking this will be a little tempered and you'd be right. Coming in at a solid PG-13 rating, this could almost be considered, "family viewing" material. In fact, you cut out the obligatory PG-13 allowed f-bomb, this could almost be PG! The Darkness begins with a couple of families camping in Nowhere-Utah-Colorado-New Mexico-Arizona-ville. While hiking, the first of MANY unimportant story elements, teen boy character, leads Stephanie and Mikey into the canyons of where ever they are. When he and Stephanie wander off a little too far, Mikey discovers in pure plot-contrivance fashion, a hidden cave and within that cave, 5 carved stones on an alter. He of course pockets the stones. The next scene is everyone back at camp as if nothing happened and the trip is over as the two families go their separate ways. Well, as you'd expect, things begin to go a bit weird. Mikey, begins to act even more odd than usual. The family tries to write it off as his autism manifesting itself in a new and different way. While they deal with faucets seemingly turning themselves on, a weird smell in the house, and the neighbors dog going crazy, they also deal with Bronny's struggle with alcoholism, Stephanie's discovered to be bulimic, and Pete deals with NOT having an affair with the new intern, something that he has apparently done in the past. Most of what I just mentioned, you can forget about, as none of it plays into the film whatsoever! And that is my biggest problem with the film.. All these small, and sometimes major, details are brought in to the story, and in the end they are just things created to give everyone else something to do while Mikey welcomes the demons into our world. Oh, did I not mention the demons? Yeah, there are dark spirits from another dimension trying to come into our world. Thanks to the most informative Youtube-like video ever created, we learn that they tried once before and the Anasazi tribes defeated them and trapped them into, wait for it.. did you guess? Yup, 5 carved stones! MIkey's autism is the only character element that has any significance to the story and even that is periphery at best. It gives him and excuse to behave strangely and not have anyone really take notice, and while in the end, it is his autistic view on the world that saves that day, it is telegraphed so early on in the film, that it comes as no surprise. Seriously, if you can't figure out how the film ends by about the 40 minute mark, you are not paying attention. The film, according to Greg McLean, is based on an actual haunting,
