Roberson was last seen on February 28, 2006, in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas, specifically on Dickson Street, where he was enjoying time with friends in anticipation of celebrating Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, he began to feel unwell, prompting his friends to suggest that he return to their vehicle and wait for them to regroup. However, when they returned to the vehicle, they discovered that Roberson had vanished without a trace. Since that day, there has been no word from him, and the details surrounding his disappearance remain shrouded in mystery. In the wake of his disappearance, Roberson's family took immediate action by filing a missing persons report with the Siloam Springs Police Department. The department indicated that they had transferred the case to the Fayetteville Police Department on March 8, just five days after the initial report was made. However, the Fayetteville police have no documentation of such a transfer, leading to confusion and a lack of clarity regarding the investigation's jurisdiction.Compounding the situation, Roberson's mother submitted a separate missing persons report to the Fayetteville police, but they did not pursue an investigation, mistakenly believing that the Siloam Springs police were already handling the case. Meanwhile, the Siloam Springs Police Department assumed that the Fayetteville police were in charge. Adding to the complexity of Roberson's situation, he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest related to a forgery conviction and charges of being an accomplice in drug delivery. There is a theory suggesting that his disappearance may be linked to his potential testimony in a federal narcotics trial, raising the unsettling possibility that he may have been silenced. His case remains unresolved, leaving his family and friends in a state of uncertainty and heartache.

Deborah Oakes Evans, the retired state district judge who issued the execution warrant for Robert Roberson III earlier this year, has apparently voluntarily decided to recuse herself from the legal proceeding. According to the court filing, Evans signed the order of recusal on Nov. 25. It was not immediately clear why she opted to step aside from the case, which has garnered national and international headlines. In other news, after enduring this year's brutal primary season, Texas Republicans are bracing for another bruising primary pitting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton against U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in 2026. The two politicians, titans in Texas Republican politics, have been circling each other for more than a year, setting up a potential clash that would test the power of Paxton's appeal to hard-right conservatives and Cornyn's strength as a well-funded incumbent and prolific vote-getter. the city of Ennis issued a boil water notice Sunday because of “low water pressure caused by a water main break,” prompting Ennis ISD to cancel classes and activities today for students and staff. Ennis residents are urged to boil their water before using it, including before drinking, cooking, making ice, washing their hands and face, or brushing their teeth. The city will be distributing cases of water at Fire Station No. 1, located at 1700 West Lake Bardwell Drive. And Southwest Airlines says it is ending its cabin service earlier on its flights starting next month. Beginning on Dec. 4, a company spokesperson said, flight attendants will begin preparing the cabin for landing at an altitude of 18,000 feet instead of 10,000 feet. Richard Roberson, president and CEO of the Mississippi Hospital Association, tells Mississippi Today's Bobby Harrison and Geoff Pender a new Trump administration would likely approve Mississippi Medicaid expansion work requirements. With his execution halted, will Robert Roberson finally have a chance at justice as new evidence, legislative allies, and a growing public outcry push for a retrial? Robert Roberson, who was set to be executed on October 17, 2024, for the 2002 death of his 2-year-old daughter Nikki, was granted a last-minute stay by the Texas Supreme Court. This unexpected reprieve followed a subpoena from Texas lawmakers requesting Roberson's testimony before the House Criminal Justice Committee. Roberson's conviction heavily relied on the now-disputed "shaken baby syndrome" diagnosis, but new evidence suggests Nikki's death may have resulted from natural causes, like pneumonia. Both the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals previously declined to intervene, and the Supreme Court's decision has sparked debate over the balance of power between Texas's legislative and judicial branches. The case has drawn national attention, bolstered by support from Dr. Phil, who testified before the Texas Legislature on Roberson's behalf. The debate has also reignited scrutiny of forensic evidence standards and Texas's 2013 "junk science" law as lawmakers and courts reconsider Roberson's fate. Dr. Phil speaks with Terre, a 2003 juror from Roberson's trial who now believes in his innocence, stating she wasn't presented with all the evidence. Roberson's attorney, Gretchen Sween, insists that, despite opposition from the Attorney General's office, he deserves a new trial. In support, Representatives Joe Moody (D), Lacey Hull (R), and Brian Harrison (R) have joined forces in a bipartisan coalition advocating for clemency and a retrial. Former Los Angeles prosecutor and news anchor Loni Coombs argues that if the Attorney General is confident in Roberson's guilt, they should welcome a retrial to resolve lingering doubts once and for all.
Today, A Perfect Match co-hosts Aysha Welch (@ayshalikeasia) and Jason Reed (@jayr1085) are chatting with Married at First Sight expert, Pastor Cal Roberson, about his thoughts on this season as well as his new app "Marriage Ain't for Punks."
In a dramatic last-minute intervention, Texas lawmakers have delayed the execution of Robert Roberson, convicted of killing his 2-year-old daughter in 2002. At the heart of this case lies the controversial diagnosis of "shaken baby syndrome," which initially led to Roberson's conviction but has since faced widespread scrutiny in the scientific community. With just hours to spare, the Texas Supreme Court issued a rare stay, allowing Roberson's legal team to challenge the evidence under Texas's “junk science” law. This unprecedented legal battle raises complex questions about the intersection of justice and forensic science, while Roberson's life hangs in the balance.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crimecast--4106013/support.
