Filmmaker and MOVIE CRYPT favorite Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW 2-4, SPIRAL, ABATTOIR, REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA) returns to share yet another set of incredible stories from his various cinematic adventures over the last few years. As always, Bousman brings his unmatched level of candid honesty about his trials and tribulations and the humble perspective that has made him an absolute legend on this podcast. Starting off with the story of his film THE CELLO and how one of the greatest production experiences of his career suddenly turned south… to the making of his upcoming feature (tentatively titled THE MONSTER) and working with Dijon Hounsou (AMISTAD) and Lauren LaVera (TERRIFIER 2 & 3)… to the MUST HEAR second hour about how the three directors each wrestle with feeling responsible for anything that goes wrong on a production even when it was completely out of their hands… to how they deal with the disappointment of working on a project for years only to have it snuffed out in an instant… to how anxiety and depression have made them think they never wanted to make another film again and just what price “suffering for your art” can actually cost you over the long haul… this is yet another one of those conversations we only wish they would present students with in film school.  It may only be March when this episode premieres but it is already a contender for best episode of the year. Jigsaw puts a doctor through a game to keep himself alive as well as allows his apprentice to run a game herself that is somehow connected to Jigsaw's game.Saw III features a very sick Jigsaw who allows his apprentice, Amanda, to start taking over his legacy. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II and continues on to direct Saw IV. While the film isn't as strong as the first two in the series, it does add value to the series by bringing back returning characters, Eric and Kerry, played by Donnie Wahlberg and Dina Meyer and carves a new path for Jigsaw and Amanda. The movie delivers on clever traps, crazy kills, and fills in more of Jigsaw's background that makes the series more interesting. Leave it to the guys at FIlmjitsu to celebrate Easter and the renewal of Spring by reviewing a movie about organ harvesting! Having nothing to do with bunnies, eggs, baskets, or certainly anything that Jesus Christ would have died for, 2008's "Repo! The Genetic Opera" is a cinematic weapon that delivers more pain than crucifixion! As Mike cackles at the horror wrought, Jay attempts to limit the number of expletives to describe this musical from the "Saw" franchise's MVP, Darren Lynn Bousman, but likely fails. The guys then recount their Bottom Five Musical Numbers which include entries as varied as "The Jazz Singer," "Lady and the Tramp," "The Room" and... something from the "Star Wars" universe? If that's not enough, the guys play a musically-themed game of Kick Two, Pick Two that proves to be surprisingly challenging.

Tonight the C in ACAB stands for Chris Rock, as we take a look at the delayed, maligned, and overlooked soft reboot of the Saw franchise... no, the other one, 2021's Spiral: From The Book of SAW! In this Bop n' A Movie commentary track, we travel back to a time of chaos and uncertainty, where America was terrified by police brutality and the indoctrination of its youth into violent ideologies by charismatic extremists-- thank God that's over. It was a time when the horror community was shocked not just by another comedian entering the game, but by Darren Lynn Bousman's return to the series after seemingly cutting ties with Lionsgate, and the anticipated film missing its release due to a trivial complication like a global pandemic. Seen as a disappointment and forgotten by a series that keeps everything, did we miss out on a bold return to Saw's pulp roots, or does it deserve to be buried along with Jigsaw? The movie, you know, not the... well, I guess him, too.KEEP JOHN KRAMER'S NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH BY DOWNLOADING HERE.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BoxOfficePulpPodcast/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BoxOfficePulp Apple Podcasts: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/box-office-pulp/id577338641 Amazon Podcasts: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/7c11ff8b-2875-454d-8770-8b1d36d04b52 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/534ZPRmDoZzNs5GtiAhOEc Google Podcasts: https://pod.link/BoxOfficePulp.googleMore Ways To Listen: https://pod.link/BoxOfficePulp

Everything is bigger, the stars are brighter, and we get more musical religious mayhem — but this time in Heaven. Tech N9ne, David Hasselhoff, Ted Neeley, and more new additions lend their voices to the chorus of sainted sinners, but sadly, there'd be no trilogy finale. Alleluia! is the second chapter of an unfinished story, one that deserves its last hurrah, which we talk about at length.

Trick 'r Treat is a 2007 American anthology horror comedy film written and directed by Michael Dougherty and produced by Bryan Singer. The film stars Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin and Brian Cox. It relates four Halloween horror stories with a common element in them: Sam, a trick-or-treating demon wearing orange footie pajamas with a burlap sack over his head. The character makes an appearance in each of the stories whenever one of the other characters breaks a Halloween tradition.   Despite being delayed for two years and having only a limited number of screenings at film festivals, the film received much critical acclaim and has since garnered a strong cult following.   Tales of Halloween is a 2015 American comedy horror anthology film consisting of ten interlocking segments, each revolving around the titular holiday. Segments were directed by Neil Marshall, Darren Lynn Bousman, Axelle Carolyn, Lucky McKee, Andrew Kasch, Paul Solet, John Skipp, Adam Gierasch, Jace Anderson, Mike Mendez, Ryan Schifrin, Dave Parker and, in his film debut, Jack Dylan Grazer.   The film premiered on July 24, 2015, at the Fantasia International Film Festival, before receiving a limited theatrical release and through video on demand on October 16, 2015, by Epic Pictures.   Opening Credits; Introduction (1.00); Background History (43.50); Trick ‘R Treat (2009) Film Trailer (45.33); Featuring the Presentation (48.07); Let's Rate (1:19.42); Introducing a Film (1:26.34); Tales of Halloween (2015) Film Trailer (1:26.57); Lights, Camera, Action (1:29.02); How Many Stars (2:08.17); End Credits (2:18.01); Closing Credits (2:20.35)   Opening Credits– Epidemic Sound – Copyright . We're back, Darren Lynn Bousman is back, and our special guest Katherine Vienneau is back! Where does the epic 10-part anime Saw series go after the boring and bad Saw II? Can returning director DLB step up his twisted game for this sequel? Yes, oh lord yes! Saw III is the true beginning of the Saw sequel madness! We got Jigsaw, we got Amanda, we got brain surgery, we got traps and traps for days, we got Jeff. We return with part two of our series on the epic ten-part anime series, Saw. Does this sequel have two times the torture, two times the traps, two times the grime? Or does it completely suck? Listen to find out! Alex and Ben get trapped in a Toronto nerve gas house thanks to the new Saw series landlord, Darren Lynn Bousman. Can his scripting and direction hold a candle to the dynamite team of Wan/Whannell? Perhaps later in the series but not here! We'll go through each trap and let you know which one we think we have the best chance at surviving (though most of the traps in this movie also suck).Make sure to listen to the end for the triumphant, rage-filled return of Benny's Business Corner. If you ever wanted to hear Ben make ill-advised threats to a former boss, this is the show for you! (SATIRE/PARODY)Join us next week for Saw III with returning guest Katherine Vienneau!

A Chilling On Screen Presence In The Lost, Cabin Fever 2, Red White & Blue, and The Devil's Carnival Belies This Thoughtful, Creative ActorIn 2006, Kevin was invited by his friends at Anchor Bay Entertainment to attend the Toronto premiere of prolific genre writer Jack Ketchum's new film “The Lost”. Directed by Chris Sivertson, the film is loosely based on the Pied Piper of Tucson murders. The films antagonist is an eccentric and sociopathic young man named Ray Pye. It's a challenging character to play as the whole film rests on his shoulders and the audience has to stay with the character but is never charmed by him like they are with Hannibal Lecter or sympathetic toward him like with Noman Bates. The character is played by Marc Senter and it's a staggering performance. Kevin said to several people after the film, “I can't wait to see what he does next!”From his role as the damaged and vulnerable Franki in “Red, White and Blue” to “The Scorpion” in Darren Lynn Bousman's bonkers musical “The Devil's Carnival”, Marc is an actor who brings something new and surprising to every role. He's one of those actors that when they appear on screen, you see everyone in the audience sit up as they know something special is about to happen.Marc and Kevin talk about doing your homework as an actor, using a hangover to craft a part of a performance and how deep to dig when playing a real-life psychopath. And unlike the many dark and sinister character's Marc has played, he a lovely guy who's open and always present. So, put some crushed beer cans in your boots and let's explore the mysterious mind of Marc Senter!
