We are now in the middle of our series, No Longer Strangers. Talk 3, God Has a Family, affirms that we are not strangers from one another. Every single human being has equal dignity, equal identity, and equal inheritance—because we're all children of God. No exception. Even if we look at the world today, there is so much painful inequality. Which makes us think: “Maybe God loves some more than others.” Sadly, inequality is the undeniable mark of the world around us. But Ephesians says this is not God's Plan. In Ephesians 3, Paul gives a summary of everything he's talked about so far and then prays that we'll be able to understand—just a bit more—the greatest mystery of all— God's awesome Love for us. The key message of Talk 3: We are equally loved.
WELCOME to our brand-new teaching series: No Longer Strangers. For six weeks, we'll take a deep dive into Ephesians. If you were with us last year, we did a teaching series on 1 Corinthians, with the title, MESSY SAINTS. These two letters—1 Corinthians and Ephesians—belong to the same group of letters St. Paul wrote when the early Church was spreading in the first century. Some Bible scholars call Ephesians the Queen of the Epistles, the masterpiece of Paul's theology. Ephesians declares God's cosmic, eternal plan from the very beginning of history to its ultimate completion. And what is that cosmic plan? The unity of everything under Jesus. The key message of Talk 1 is: God Has a Plan.
WELCOME to Talk 2 of our new Feast Talk series: No Longer Strangers. Talk 1 explored the first chapter of the Apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians, where he opened with a majestic hymn of praise celebrating the Father's glorious Plan. He recalled how God wanted to bless the entire world, starting with the family of Abraham. Through Jesus, that small circle has burst wide open. What was once exclusive to one ethnic group—the Jews—has now extended to everyone—Jews and Gentiles alike. That means everyone can now belong to God's House. Talk 2 starts the second chapter of Ephesians. Paul preaches the same message in two parts, with each part looking at the same story but using a different lens. The first part—verses 1 to 10—takes on a more meta view—retelling the entire history of the world from a cosmic perspective. The second part—verses 11 to 22—is more micro—retelling the same history of humanity—but from a Gentile vs. Jewish perspective. The key message of Talk 2: You belong to God's House.

Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to belong? Drawing from the powerful story of Michael Oher in "The Blind Side," this powerful message explores our fundamental human need for connection and how the church fulfills that longing as a spiritual family. The speaker unpacks Jesus's remarkable promise in Mark 10:28-31, where followers who sacrifice relationships for His sake receive "a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children." This isn't metaphorical—it's a tangible reality that believers experience through their church family. While following Christ may involve loss and even persecution, the spiritual family gained is worth infinitely more.Looking at the early church model in Acts, we see believers sharing meals, possessions, and lives together, truly becoming "of one heart and mind." This close-knit community stands in stark contrast to our modern tendency toward isolation and independence. The message challenges us to move beyond Sunday-only relationships and create intentional connections that mirror family bonds. The heart of belonging comes through treating fellow believers as family—older members as parents, peers as siblings. Like the Tuohy family who didn't just provide Michael Oher with temporary help but fully embraced him as their own, we're called to fully incorporate others into our lives. When major life events occur—births, deaths, illnesses, celebrations—church family shows up, providing support that reflects Christ's love.Ultimately, true belonging begins with a relationship with Jesus. If you're seeking connection and purpose, take that first step toward the family that will never abandon you. In God's household, as Ephesians 2:19 reminds us, we are "no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people." Welcome home.

We all have experienced the awkwardness of standing alone at a social gathering, sitting by yourself at the school lunch table or looking around a room unable to name anyone there. We feel alone without significant connections. Paul teaches that in Christ, we are never strangers. We are citizens in God's nation, embraced by His family and become a temple of collective worship. The grace of God does more than forgive. It shapes us as God's Household. Empowered Living Vol 2: Too many Christians live uncertain of who they are in Christ, or what Christ has made available to them. They feel impoverished despite Christ's riches. They feel powerless despite Jesus' strength. They feel alone and without purpose despite being chosen by God. We are, at times, blind to the resources granted us as God's children. In this series, Dr. John continues his teaching from Ephesians. Paul elaborates on the spiritual blessings promised us and we find that truly, we are enriched beyond expectation.

This week, we continue on in our journey through Ephesians as we turn to the author's declaration that Christ is our Peace. He holds a PhD in English from Penn State and lives in Boise, Idaho, where he works as a writer and speaker. Greg is a Senior Research Fellow at The Center for Faith, Sexuality & Gender. In this podcast conversation, we talk about his book The Limits of My World, which includes themes around the philosophy of language, anthropology, gender, and the nature of reality. This leads to a broader conversation around fiction vs. nonfiction literature (including the Bible), the role of genre for determining meaning, and the possibility that fiction helps us see the truth more than non-fiction.
