In a region filled with churches, it's easy to think of church as just another building or event, but Scripture calls us to something deeper. We are not simply attendees; we are the living, breathing body of Christ, each uniquely gifted and called to belong, not just to show up. The New Testament uses powerful metaphors—temple, bride, family, and body—to describe who we are together. Today, we focused on what it means to be the body of Christ, drawing from Paul's letter to the Corinthians, a diverse and sometimes divided community much like our own.Corinth was a bustling, multicultural city, and the church there reflected that diversity. Paul wrote to them because, like any group of people, they struggled with division, pride, and feelings of inferiority. He reminded them—and us—that the church is not an organization but a living organism, made up of many different parts, each essential and uniquely gifted by God. Spiritual gifts are not for personal status or self-fulfillment, but for the building up, healing, and encouragement of the whole body. When we use our gifts, we bring comfort, guidance, and even healing to others, as seen in the story of Debbie, whose wounds were met with love and service from people she barely knew.Yet, just as a physical body can get sick, so can a church. Paul warns against the dangers of comparison—feeling inferior because our gifts seem less important, or feeling superior and looking down on others. Both attitudes fracture the unity and beauty of the body. Instead, we are called to mutual appreciation, to honor every part, and to recognize that God has placed each of us exactly where we are for a reason. No one is here by accident. Whether you're making coffee, praying behind the scenes, or leading from the front, your role matters deeply. The health and witness of the church depend on each person stepping into their God-given purpose. As we look ahead to opportunities like Servapalooza, let's remember: we are made for more than just attending or making payments—we are made to serve, to love, and to shine the light of Christ together. When every part does its work, the body is healthy, the bride is beautiful, and the world sees Jesus in us.Youtube Chapters[00:00] - Welcome[01:00] - Celebrating Baptisms and Life Change[03:00] - The Abundance of Churches in Our Area[05:00] - We Are Not in Competition—One Kingdom[07:00] - What Is the Church? Hey team! Our guest today is Dr. Otito Iwuchukwu, who is here to talk about the emotional and psychological aspects of belonging and how it impacts our day-to-day lives. Dr. Iwuchukwu has a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology from the College of Psychology and Counseling, a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a specialization in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, from Temple University, and is currently an Associate Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her scholarly contributions appear in a range of peer-reviewed and indexed publications and have been presented at numerous research meetings and symposia across the world. Additionally, Dr. Iwuchukwu has recently written The Belonging Paradox, a book that presents a new way to understand belonging as an adaptive journey rather than a static destination. In this episode, we talk about why belonging is a dynamic, ongoing process, not a fixed state, and how we can create more inclusive environments for ourselves and others. We'll also discuss how masking impacts our sense of belonging, the role boundaries play in maintaining our authenticity, and the importance of giving ourselves and others grace. If you've ever struggled with finding your place, especially in social settings or work environments, you'll find practical tools in this conversation for navigating those tough moments. Belonging isn't a fixed state, but an ongoing process that changes with both your internal state and the external environment. Recognizing this can help you manage expectations and frustrations when your sense of belonging fluctuates. 2. Recognize that you don't have to belong to every group, and not all groups are meant for a deep, personal connection. Don't force yourself to belong in every situation; if a group or environment doesn't feel right, it's okay to step back. 3. You don't have to be liked by everyone. Instead, it's important for us to focus on finding spaces where we can truly belong. It's about finding authentic connections, not chasing superficial acceptance.

Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to belong? Drawing from the powerful story of Michael Oher in "The Blind Side," this powerful message explores our fundamental human need for connection and how the church fulfills that longing as a spiritual family. The speaker unpacks Jesus's remarkable promise in Mark 10:28-31, where followers who sacrifice relationships for His sake receive "a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children." This isn't metaphorical—it's a tangible reality that believers experience through their church family. While following Christ may involve loss and even persecution, the spiritual family gained is worth infinitely more.Looking at the early church model in Acts, we see believers sharing meals, possessions, and lives together, truly becoming "of one heart and mind." This close-knit community stands in stark contrast to our modern tendency toward isolation and independence. The message challenges us to move beyond Sunday-only relationships and create intentional connections that mirror family bonds. The heart of belonging comes through treating fellow believers as family—older members as parents, peers as siblings. Like the Tuohy family who didn't just provide Michael Oher with temporary help but fully embraced him as their own, we're called to fully incorporate others into our lives. When major life events occur—births, deaths, illnesses, celebrations—church family shows up, providing support that reflects Christ's love.Ultimately, true belonging begins with a relationship with Jesus. If you're seeking connection and purpose, take that first step toward the family that will never abandon you. In God's household, as Ephesians 2:19 reminds us, we are "no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people." Welcome home.

Whether your relationship with your father was beautiful, broken, or somewhere between, we all carry father wounds that shape how we experience love, security, and belonging. For some, the phrase "God is Father" brings immediate comfort; for others, it triggers confusion, distance, or even fear. What if understanding the Father heart of God could transform these broken places? In this series, Elizabeth Gunter Powell and Kimberly Roddy gently guide us through this healing journey, sharing their own unique experiences with their fathers and how those relationships continue to impact their understanding of God's fatherly love. Sylvia Gunter also shares her story of how abandonment by her father created a "daddy hole" that even wonderful surrogate fathers couldn't fill completely and her journey to understand that God is her true Father. As we revisit this powerful message, we discover God not as a reflection of our earthly fathers but as the perfection of everything we've longed for—unwavering presence, complete acceptance, and unconditional love. Whether you've walked this path before or are taking your first steps, God has something fresh to reveal about his heart toward you.Join us for this deeply personal exploration of what it means to be truly safe in the Father's heart. Get your copy of the book and study guide at thefathersbusiness.com and begin your journey from abandonment to belonging, from hiding to being fully seen and loved.

Who are the “Redshift Wranglers” and what can they tell us about the evolution of our universe? To find out, Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu welcome back astrophysics PhD candidate Sadie Coffin from the Rochester Institute of Technology whose focus is galactic evolution, and in particular, the spectroscopy of galaxies and their lights. As always, though, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing: the Lucy spacecraft fly-by of asteroid 52246 Donaldjohanson, which was named after the American paleoanthropologist who discovered the Australopithecus afarensis “Lucy” fossil the spacecraft was named after. Then it's time to learn a little about Sadie, who explains how questioning the unknown is what drove her to study astronomy. Chuck, Allen and Sadie talk about the awe embodied in the study of the universe and the universe itself. Like Chuck, Sadie studies galaxy evolution, but Sadie focuses on a galaxy's light, spread into spectra, and dissecting different features in that light. You'll hear about the citizen science project called “Red Shift Wranglers” that helps Sadie sift through all the spectroscopic data, and get an awesome explanation of the doppler effect and the way red shift, which measures speed, can be used to help build better maps of galactic evolution. Find out how you can get involved with the project and join the ranks of the 3,500 Redshift Wranglers who've participated so far in “Wrangling galaxies and the universe together.” (See below for links.) You'll also hear about other citizen science projects on Zooniverse like Galaxy Zoo. Sadie talks about the value of non-experts engaging with experts in a community, and the surprising number of people who want to get involved. For our first audience question, Nina asks, “If nothing can go faster than the speed of light, why can galaxies have Z greater than 1?” Sadie's explanation gets pretty technical, so we'll let her do it in the episode. Our next question comes from Jerry, who asks, “Will we someday no longer need scientists and have AI do all our research?” Sadie, who gets similar questions all the time relative to citizen science, believes these two things can be complimentary, and that in the name of improving science we can't forgo either for the other. We finish with a discussion about what defines an act of science and a work of art, the process of questioning, and the roles of humans and machines in these processes. Plus, Sadie tells us about the science-themed travel posters by Dr. Tyler Nordgren on her walls. Chuck also gets Sadie to talk about rowing and the lessons she's taken from the sport into other aspects of her life and journey as a scientist. If you'd like to know more about the Redshift Wrangler project on The Zooniverse and get involved, or to reach Sadie, visit https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/jeyhansk/redshift-wrangler or find Redshift Wrangler on Facebook and X (Twitter). Listen to the COSMOS project episode referenced in this show with Dr. Jeyhan Kartaltepe, an astronomer and professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Watch Sadie's previous appearance in this short video shot at the COSMOS Team Meeting 2023. We hope you enjoy this episode of The LIUniverse, and, if you do, please support us on Patreon. As we end our “Forward” series it's time to ask the question, “What about my place in God's plan for realizing His dream for His church?” In the bible, God compares the church to the human body. As our bodies are one body with many parts, so also the church is one body of Christ with many different parts. Every believer has a place in Jesus' church and every believer has a role to fulfill. We'll learn today how we can begin to discover where our spot is in Jesus' church. When we discover our place in the body and the gifts, talents, and abilities we've been given to serve God and His people, we can be part of moving forward into God's dream for His church.

In this episode, I'm diving into a conversation that's been circling the design space for a while: Do you really need a niche to succeed—or is versatility the key? There's been a lot of noise out there: "niche is dead,” “you are your niche,” “be the one-stop-shop.” And while there's some truth in the intention behind those ideas, they can also create confusion. So, today I'm breaking it down.We talk about the role of experimentation, why staying scattered too long can hold you back, and how niching doesn't mean restriction—it means clarity. I also share my own journey from specialist to generalist and how that path helped me attract aligned clients, build authority, and avoid burnout. Here's what I want you to walk away with: → You can be versatile—but start with a foundation. → You can specialize—but still stay creatively expansive. → You can find your place—by choosing intentionally. We'll talk about:Why niching isn't the enemy—it's actually your anchor. How I evolved from working in Illustrator to directing design teams. The real reason many designers stay stuck (hint: it's not skill). What “you are your niche” really means—and how to not get boxed in.How to use your strengths as your starting point to attract the right work.If you're tired of feeling scattered and unsure about where to focus your time, this episode will help you clarify your next step.

Welcome back to another episode of Fratello On Air! This week, we discuss the watch community and how to find a group of like-minded (or differently minded) people within it. Whether you seek to meet people in person or online, there's even a great option if you don't live in a major city. For our listeners, the watch content begins after 25 minutes. At times, it feels like the watch community is an exclusive place. Flashy Instagram photos in New York show groups of people having fun around watches. But how can typical watch fans living in more rural areas have fun and meet people? Plus, are you missing something if you're not at these parties? We chat about the community and how to find your cadre of collectors. A big thanks to Kevin, who suggested today's topic!HandgelenkskontrolleGuess what? The dad joke is back, and Balazs falls for it hook, line, and sinker! We deliver on our promise to discuss sneakers, including the latest Nike announcements. New Agassis and the Deion Sanders Air Diamond Turf "Falcons" models are coming in a few weeks! For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing a 34mm stainless steel Movado ref. 14775. It's a simple three-hand watch with a lovely dial. Balazs is opting for a modern Ming 17.09 with the fantastic new Ming rubber strap. The watch communityLook, we get it: the watch community seems daunting at times. The same names show up everywhere, and the whole environment feels exclusive rather than inclusive. Don't fear, though, because there are many ways to get involved and enjoy watches with friendly people. Reaching out to collectors of a similar brand or theme on Instagram is a great way to learn and become active in a subcategory. Chat groups are all over that app, WhatsApp, and Facebook. Before you know it, you'll be chatting away and enjoying watches more than ever! Different meetups also occur in smaller towns and cities. If nothing is happening, why not start a group? It's easy, and you'll be surprised at the response when organizing an easy night out to chat about timepieces. We hope you enjoy today's show! If you have ideas for future episodes, please let us know.
The Advent of Jesus is more often described as an arrival of Christ to the world, but implicit to an arrival is a story of departure. In this perspective, the departure of Christ from an eternal status quo to corporeal calling in the gospel of Matthew sets the scene of Nativity and the drama implied by Christs arrival. The significance from Christs introduction to the world to the present invites us to take part in the story of redemption and create space for Gods movement in our lives. The First Noel reflects an opportunity to pause from our own norms, make space for the Fathers prompting for our lives, and find our place in the story of Advent.
