Amazon pulled out of New York City (NYC) signalling the death of NYC. Seems extreme, right? But...NYC has been dying for ~15+ years. New York State has continued to lose population. And Western New York is one of the poorest districts in the country. New York City acts like people are lucky to do business there. NYC is old, expensive and the quality of life is not high. But... if you're young and looking for a job, then NYC is a good experience. The Amazon HQ2 NYC controversy is an issue because NYC will need those 25,000 jobs from Amazon in the future. Having an Amazon Headquarters NYC and an Amazon Headquarters in New York would have solidified NYC as a technology powerhouse to rival San Francisco. NYC Is seeing a wave of crime worse than they have seen in a very long time.As far left activists continue their demands that police be defunded or abolished crime is skyrocketing across the country. Activists in NYC are demanding that the city reinstate the anti crime unit to prevent the wave of harm being caused.AOC on the other hand is blaming the wave of crime on people who need bread or food which has nothing to do at all with the loss of life. Ocasio Cortez is getting ripped for being tone deaf and not even knowing what is happening in her own community. The defund the police and abolish the police experiment has already failed and its time Democrats back away and started supporting police more. Even though there are issues we can still have reform.#Democrats#AOC#Republicans Support the show (http://timcast.com/donate)
Comedian Steve Mazan is joined by his co-host Denise Mazan, who had never seen the film, to discuss "Midnight Cowboy" along with multiple time viewer The Irish Critic. Is this a top 100 film? Should it have been X-rated? Is Hoffman's cab thumping scene not dissected enough? What the hell is Joe Buck's truth? Is Joe Buck the baseball announcer worse? Does anyone miss this NYC? Is this blacklist redemption? All these questions and more get answered on this week's Mazan Movie Club podcast "Midnight Cowboy" on IMDb Denise Mazan Interior Designer on Instagram Steve Mazan on Facebook Home of the Mazan Movie Club Home to Corporate Comedian Steve Mazan
Southern belles, Drea G and Tasha The Black Rogue of G.R.I.T.S. and the City are back with episode 14, "Good in Every Hood." In this week's show, we discuss the good, bad, and ugly of living with roommates in an overpriced and gentrified NYC. As well as ponder the questions, how old is too old to be living at home with the parentals or with roommates in NYC? Is there a cutoff? From tales of crazed roommates to real life "Single White Female" situations.....near fistfights, roommates with live-in boyfriends, deal-breakers and more. We discuss it all. See how we've managed to keep our sanity in the big city and find the best balance for our pocketbooks.
Is Trump's rhetoric of canceling the diversity lottery on the basis of a terrorist act, far-reaching or within limits. Are recent killings by white civilians in the U.S. condemned enough or received the same reaction as the Islamist act of terror in NYC? Is there an element of the double standard? In this episode hosted by Nana Hemaa; the panel discusses the topic in question. We hope you enjoy it.
Woody Allen double feature! Yes, we both get a little neurotic and wacky talking about the newest Woody flick (Midnight in Paris) and one of his classics (Manhattan). One of us has seen most of Woody's output of films while the other has seen only a handful! Like always, we answer the important questions on everyone's minds: Did either movie make us want to move to Paris or NYC? Is it cool for someone to have a favorite cinematographer? What is the true Golden Age and is nostalgia really that bad? How can Owen Wilson be in a crappy movie like Hall Pass and a great one like Midnight in Paris in the same year? Is it the same guy? What's up with that? This episode is rated PG, which is really great when you compare it to some of our recent output! You could practically listen to this with your grandparents, by gosh!
