Reading: John 16:25-33- I have overcome the worldJohn 16:33- “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.' Please note that the 1st part is in English, and the 2nd part is in Malayalam starting at 14:40 mark. Before His crucifixion takes place, Jesus encourages His disciples by telling them about the things they may have to face. When tribulations occur in our lives, peace can be found nowhere or in no one else other than in Jesus because Jesus is the only person who has overcome the world. I have not heard from many people that their life is very easy going and smooth, especially from people who give priority to God in their life. There are moments when a frustrated person prefers death to living any more, finds hard even to smile in front of others, wants the life to end somehow, wants to isolate from others, and feels terrible in many ways. Outwardly everyone seems OK and happy, but in their private life they may be facing mountains of problems. If we feel that we cannot bear the mental pain any more, understand that God is able to give us courage and strength if we call upon Him. I have experienced that. During any kind of hardship, the best and only physician to reach out for strength, comfort and divine healing is Jesus Christ. How Jesus overcame the world and how we can overcome the world are discussed. My name... Cicilysunny@gmail.com

Jesus prepares His disciples for the trials ahead, promising that sorrow will transform into joy and that the Spirit will guide them into all truth. Amid coming struggles and suffering, He offers profound comfort and hope, declaring, “Take heart—I have overcome the world.” This scene reveals the Spirit's role and Christ's ultimate victory, equipping believers to face whatever challenges arise. The Rev. Dr. Brian Kachelmeier, pastor of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, San Antonio, TX, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study John 16. The Gospel of John takes us on a journey through the Good News of Jesus in a unique way. It reveals Jesus as the incarnate son of God from eternity. From His miraculous signs to His profound "I Am" statements, we witness Jesus offering living water to the thirsty, light to those in darkness, and life to the dead. But this is also a story of conflict: Jesus is relentlessly pursued by those who reject Him, yet He willingly goes to the cross, showing the depths of God's love. As we travel from His first miracle to His ultimate victory over death, John invites us to see and believe—that in Jesus, we find eternal life and the very presence of God among us. Connect to God's revealing Word in this series that uncovers the rich, layered truths of John's Gospel and the unshakable hope it offers. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. We can overcome the world and its struggles because Jesus already has. Rather than trying to take matters into our own hands, we need to trust in Him, allow Him to direct our steps, and apply His teachings into our lives. Whenever we feel without hope in our trouble or distress, we need to remember that the Lord has overcome the world and we can take heart in this promise. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). If there is one thing I'm familiar with, it's trouble. Growing up, I often found myself in the vice principal's office for a myriad of reasons. Due to having a speech impediment when I was younger, I would often say things incorrectly, which would then be taken the wrong way. I was also notorious for coming up with different names for teachers and people at the school because I was never good with names. For example, instead of remembering Mr. Smith, Mr. Jones, or Mr. Hanks, I would make up a name for them, based on what they looked like, such as “turtle man,” “Mr. Giraffe,” and “the alien.” As one could imagine, the vice principal didn't enjoy being called an alien. In addition to being sent to the vice principal's office for mispronouncing words and referring to teachers by different names, I often had a hard time calming down if someone said something about my family. There was one specific girl who always tried to get me upset by saying something mean about my mom or my sister. One day, this girl made a very derogatory remark about my mother, to which I called her a few bad words that I had heard from my father. Yet again, this landed me in the vice principal's office. “Vivian, you're a good student. Why are you always in my office?” This is what I was asked each time I was in the vice principal's office. I explained the situation to him and while he understood why I was upset, he told me it was never right to say bad words or to call people mean names. He validated my feelings that what she did was wrong and he would talk to her about it, but that it didn't make it right for me to be mean back. Rather than following after anger, he cautioned me to follow after peace. I'm not sure if he knew how much his words affected me at 9-years-old, but it did change many of my future actions. When this girl would be mean to me, I would tell her that she was just mean. I didn't go any further than that and I did my best to try to apply what the vice principal had told me. This girl was still mean to me, but I no longer fed into her cruelty. I chose to strive for peace. Intersecting Faith & Life: The Lord tells us, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus tells us here that we will have trouble in this world, but we can take heart because He has overcome the world. Through the Lord, we can have peace. While we cannot fully obtain peace on our own, we can obtain peace through Jesus. Troubles will abound in our life, but we can trust in the Lord. He has already overcome the world, therefore, there is nothing for us to fear. We might cause trouble or we might be the victim of trouble, but we can take heart because of the Lord. Due to living in a fallen world, sin is ever present and we will face many difficult times. We will hurt others and they will hurt us. None of us want to hurt others, yet it is part of living in a sinful world. With this knowledge, we need to allow it to lead us to follow Jesus and strive for peace with all people. Challenge Questions: What does taking heart look like in your life? Are there any troubles you are facing today? How can you bring them to Jesus today? When life feels overwhelming, remember that Jesus has overcome the world. How can you praise Him for this today? “Dear Jesus, You have overcome the world! I praise You and I thank You. Please help me to remember this when trouble is at my door. I have often caused trouble for others and others have caused trouble for me. Help me to follow after Your example and to strive after peace. In Your Name, I pray, Amen.” Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

John makes clear that each person who trusts in Jesus will be transformed, no longer prey to sinful temptations but characterized by love and obedience. We are called to confidently and consistently live out our faith because of Jesus' life-transforming victory.
Pastor Kevin's sermon focuses on overcoming worldly troubles through partnership with Jesus. He emphasizes four key ways: prayer, aligning plans with God's will, partnering with others in faith, and trusting in God's provision. He concludes by stressing the ultimate victory comes from "dying to the world" by following Jesus's example of self-denial and sacrifice.
7/21/24 - John 16:26-33 - "I Have Overcome The World" (Rev. Justin L. Hunter)
Send us a Text Message.Today, we finish the 16th chapter and ease into chapter 17. Jesus told us the reason He was saying these things… it was so we could have peace. In this world, we have tribulation, but we should be of good cheer, for Jesus has overcome the world. Jesus continued His high priestly prayer by asking the Father to give the disciples life eternal. He prayed for the disciples, and He prayed some very specific things of which we try to break down and discuss. In our Q&A segment, we were asked this question: Is all compromise wrong? This study is full of nuggets, so come on and listen in!

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world,” writes John, and then he adds, “And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith” [1 John 5 v.4]. What is faith? That's is a fundamental question – and the answer is simple! Or is it? Consider what happened in the First Century – beginning with 12 ordinary men, most of them fishermen. Yes, miracles happened at times, but though these were a spur to faith, think of how many times Jesus said to them, “O you of little faith” (e.g. Matt.8 v.26; 14 v.31;16 v.8) Only later did they develop the faith that spurred them and so many others to be faithful in the face of all sorts of persecution. This arose because the pagan Greek and Roman world was challenged as to what it really believed, who really was the God that should be worshipped! The ‘god' of atheism is starting to be ‘worshipped' today and its dedicated adherents are starting to create more and more problems for genuine Bible believers. Paul in his letters to those converted from paganism reminds them “how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” [1 Thess. 1 v.9,10] These former pagans had reached a conviction as to the real nature of the Creator who sent his Son into the world. A conviction that included the realization that we are nothing, we are like a cloud floating through the sky, dissipating into nothingness unless …!! Unless we seek a relationship with God! There is a well known verse which tells us, “without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” [Hebrews 11 v.6] Today the challenge to our efforts to develop such a faith – is the fiction of evolution – the impossible idea that everything by some means “created” itself! So we turn from human fiction to the wonder of what happened 2,000 years ago and has challenged human minds ever since. It is “our faith” in that event which enables us to “overcome the world” writes John. It is “our faith” that inspires us on to “victory.” John stresses a key point as he ends his first Epistle. “We know the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ” [v.20] Real faith inevitably leads us know God, it results in us having a ‘living' prayerful relationship with him, in the same sense, but far greater, than the way men and women should aim to ‘know' each other in marriage. Feeding on God's word every day is an essential part in maintaining and developing that relationship. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christadelphians-talk/message
Jesus was newly clear about the facts that He had come from, was going to, and was always with the Father and that all who believe Him concerning these things will know persecution, the love of the Father, and peace that surpasses understanding; and all of that because Jesus overcame the world! Therefore, seek out all of Jesus' teaching, believe it, and live in light of it no matter the cost.
