Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics: Yud Alef Nissan Pesach Do we say Gut Yom Tov today? How do we honor the Rebbe's birthday? What is the single most important thing each of us should do on this special day? How did the Rebbe celebrate his birthday? What were the events that led to the things done for Yud Alef Nissan 5742 – eighty years? What is the significance of the number eleven? Is it significant that “peace in Israel” are the last words in Tehillim chapter 125, which we begin reciting today? Do some people receive answers from the Rebbe more than others? Miracles and Iran Seder What is the relevance of the war in Iran to Pesach? What's the underlying message of Pesach? What does it truly mean to be free? How is the energy of Nissan and Pesach different than that of ani l'dodi v'dodi li of Elul and Tishrei? Do I have to observe the holiday if I am experiencing financial difficulties, which cause stress and anxiety, antithetical to the theme of Passover? Why is Passover celebrated on the day the exodus happened, unlike Purim and Chanukah which are celebrated the day after the miracles happened? Why do we celebrate it every year? Why does Passover have three names? What can we learn from the great miracle of Shabbos HaGadol and the other miracles of the time about today's miracles? How do we reconcile Chizkiyahu being criticized for not praising G-d's for His miracles with the ruling that one should not say Hallel every day – how do we find the right balance of acknowledging miracles in our lives? What can each of us do physically and spiritually to help protect all the innocent people and bring victory in the war against Iran? As an American who moved to Israel I am bemused by people questioning the safety of living here. How do we resolve a major conflict between husband and wife of how extreme we should be with our Pesach cleaning? Can you please share some memories of the Rebbe visiting different public Seders in Crown Heights? Why did he do so? Why did the Rebbe ask an artist to illustrate a special edition of the Haggadah for children?

The answer is that on Pesach, every single moment is permeated openly with the Exodus, both in terms of proactively leaving Egypt, and in terms of avoiding chametz. Similarly, on Shabbos Hagadol there are a number of customs that are openly linked to the Exodus from Egypt, to the extent that it is called “Shabbos Hagadol” on account of the “great miracle” that occurred etc. But if so, the question can be asked in the reverse: what is added by remembering the Exodus every day? The answer is that the Exodus from Egypt on Pesach is incomparably greater when it comes after preparing for it by remembering the Exodus from Egypt during the year. And as is seen in practice: when one experiences the Exodus every day, constantly and with vitality, then when Shabbos Hagadol arrives, it is easier for him to be awakened, and all the more so on Pesach.4 excerpts from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Hagadol, 11 Nissan 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=10-04-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

Shabbos Hagadol 5786- The Mystery of the 70th Soul by Rabbi Avi Zakutinsky
Shabbos Hagadol is called “great” because of a unique miracle that happened before Yetziyas Mitzrayim, when the Egyptian firstborn fought against their own people. Unlike other Yomim Tovim, which celebrate open miracles and are set by the lunar month, this miracle appeared natural on the surface and is therefore marked on Shabbos, representing nature. Its true greatness is that Hashem did not just break nature — He transformed it, causing the enemies themselves to carry out His will. The lesson is to recognize both open miracles and the hidden miracles within nature, and to be thankful for Hashem's constant involvement in our lives.לקו״ש לב

In this week's episode Rabbi Kohn speaks about how the clearing the ashes on the alter teach us both about routine and renewal. How we need to remeber that the things we have done yesterday we will do today and the things we do today we will do tomorrow. Continuity and routine is key to our spiritual lives. We also see from the ashes on the alter how renewal is also neccasary to keep things fresh and exciting. Additionally he speaks about the power of positive attitude and how the Torah governs our thoughts. Not just our actions. Subscribe to The Practical Parsha Podcast. The Rebbe explains why the miracle remembered on Shabbos HaGadol is commemorated on the day of the week rather than on the 10th of Nisan. Unlike other miracles celebrated on calendar dates, this miracle revealed a deeper idea: the transformation of nature itself, when the Egyptian firstborn fought their own people. https://www.torahrecordings.com/likutei-sichos/027/004_001

You get miracles and then you get miracles. Why we celebrate the miracle of Shabbos HaGadol on a Shabbos, rather than on the date it happened.
ג' חלקים משיחת מוצש"פ צו, שבת הגדול, י' ניסן ה'תשל"ט ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=11-04-2025 Synopsis The command to “Draw out and take for yourselves lambs” was fulfilled “on the tenth of the month,” which fell out that year on Shabbos, leading to the “great miracle” (“striking Egypt with their firstborns”) for which this Shabbos is called Shabbos HaGadol (“the Great Shabbos”). A Jew's ability to leave all of his personal limitations and constraints (leaving Egypt) comes about through his quality of true “greatness,” which knows no boundaries or limitations; this is why the Exodus began with a “great miracle” – because an ordinary miracle can still be subject to limitation and measure, whereas “Pesach” signifies leaping beyond all restrictions – a “great miracle.” And it came about through the “great miracle” and “leap” in the service of the Jewish people: although spiritually they were “naked and bare,” they endangered themselves with mesiras-nefesh, by taking the lamb (the deity of Egypt), on the tenth of the month, to use it for the Korban Pesach, and they did so publicly. Similarly, every Jew must “withdraw” from anything associated with idolatry, and in this way, we will merit the Redemption, already at the beginning of the month of Nissan this very year.3 excerpts from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Parashas Tzav, Shabbos HaGadol, 10 Nissan 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=11-04-2025
