198 - The T on ‘Skinny Is Back': Shrinking Bodies, GLP-1s & Where Strength Went with Jaclyn Phillps

The Find Your STRONG Podcast

In this episode of Spilling the T, we're unpacking three of the most talked-about — and misunderstood — shifts happening in health and fitness right now. From the return of ultra-thin aesthetics in media and social platforms, to the rapid rise of GLP-1 medications and peptides, to the evolution of hybrid coaching with AI and human support — these trends aren't separate. They're connected. And they're telling us something important about where the industry is headed. In this conversation, we discuss:Why “skinny is back” isn't about leanness — but about shrinking, muscle loss, and strength being deprioritized in visual cultureThe difference between thinness, health, and capability — and why muscle still matters for longevityHow body positivity was a necessary movement, but how it became distorted when acceptance turned into stagnationWhy the current push toward extreme thinness feels like a cultural overcorrectionThe real impact of GLP-1s and peptides — and why fat loss without strength, nourishment, and structure is short-sightedHow rapid weight loss can outpace metabolic health, muscle retention, and long-term resilienceWhy weight loss ≠ health, and aesthetics ≠ sustainabilityThe rise of hybrid training (AI + human coaching) as a response to both extremesHow modern coaching is shifting from pushing harder to protecting strength, recovery, and longevityWhat true body respect actually looks like moving forward Our take:Body positivity didn't fail.Discipline didn't fail.Extremes failed. The future of health and fitness isn't about disappearing — or refusing to evolve. It's about building a body that's strong, capable, supported, and able to carry you forward. This episode is for anyone who feels caught between conflicting messages — and wants a smarter, more sustainable path forward. Follow Coach Jac on IG: https://www.instagram.com/jaqioh/ Connect with Jenny (Coach JVB)Instagram: @coach_jvbWORK WITH ME - https://strongjvb.typeform.com/to/aqFEZtP1Website: coachjvb.comSubscribe  to STRONG Fitness Mag - Use Code STRONGGIRLS3 - https://simplecirc.com/subscribe/strong-fitness-magazine https:// DISCLAIMER: The opinions, beliefs, and viewpoints expressed by the hosts and guests on this podcast do not necessarily represent or reflect the official policy, opinions, beliefs, and viewpoints of Disenyo.co LLC and its employees.

Spilling the beans on food inflation: what's driving price changes?

The ECB Podcast

How much do you spend on food every month? Food is one expense we simply can't go without – we all need to eat, after all! But you may have noticed that your morning eggs, lunchtime sandwich, or favourite late-night snack is costing more than it used to. How have food prices changed over the past year? What's driving the price increases? And what's in store for our grocery bills in 2026? Our host Stefania Secola speaks to economists Elisabeth Wieland and Zivile Zekaite to answer these questions. The views expressed are those of the speakers and not necessarily those of the European Central Bank. Recorded on 20 January 2026 and published on 26 January 2026. In this episode: 02:23 Is food really getting more expensive? How do we track changes in food prices? How did food inflation develop in 2025? And what role does media coverage play? 05:39 Which foods are especially affected? Some prices are up, others are down. Why have items like coffee, cocoa and meat been hit the hardest? 08:26 Have some products also become cheaper? While meat and sweet treats have become more expensive, items like vegetables and butter have become cheaper. The overall food basket tells an interesting story and is influenced by its different components. 09:13 What's driving price increases for certain products? Raw material costs, climate change, and supply and demand factors all affect food prices. Rising wages and energy costs also play a role. 12:35 Why do food prices matter so much? Food is a big part of our budget and cannot be replaced by other items. Also, since we go to the supermarket often, food prices play a big role in shaping our inflation expectations. 19:10 What can we do about rising food prices? Temporary vs structural changes – how do they differ? And what's the ECB's role when it comes to inflation and food prices? 20:52 What's in store for our grocery bills in 2026? Good news: food inflation is set to ease in the coming year. So, what does this mean for your wallet? 22:06 Our guests' hot tips Elisabeth and Zivile share their hot tips. The conversation turns intimate as we all reflect on our long-term relationships (Taja's been with her Capricorn partner for 15 years!), the sacredness of loyalty, and not forgiving people who knew exactly what they were doing. Patrik drops wisdom about dialing numbers with intention and calling people spiritually, while Pol' brings his signature warmth and Saint Peter Paul origin story full of Armenian heritage and holiday birthday charm. Time, it marches on relentlessly outside of human control. But humanity has long found a variety of ways to mark our passage through the eons. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. But why do we count our collective journey through the ages in these integers? A day makes sense, that's one rotation of the earth on its axis and can easily be marked by the rising and setting of the sun. And a year is one orbit of the earth around the sun, traveling through the 4 seasons again and again. But why 60 seconds in a minute, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week and 12 months in a year? Jane Austen was born in the 16th of December, 1775, which means this month marks her 250th birthday. Jane lived a quiet, mostly happy life in the English countryside, surrounded by the balls, romantic intrigues and family dramas that fill her novels. Her writing was always her true passion. She glimpsed success, with 4 books becoming wildly popular in her lifetime. But she died tragically young, depriving the world of her talent. Her stories have been adapted and re imagined countless times. And in this, Jane's 250th year, she continues to be a mainstay in pop culture. But let's look past the endearing characters and timeless stories, and met the woman holding the quill. Let's get to know Jane Austen... Sense and Sensibility (1811) Pride and Prejudice (1813) Mansfield Park (1814) Emma (1816) Northanger Abbey (1818, posthumous) Persuasion (1818, posthumous) Lady Susan (1871, posthumous) Join me every Tuesday when I'm Spilling the Tea on History! The girls are back and ready to spill the tee. In Season 3, Episode 4 of Birdie Little Secrets, Kassidy and Sydney dive into a whirlwind week in golf. They kick things off celebrating Hideki Matsuyama, who wrapped up his season the same way he started it: with a W. After outlasting Alex Noren in a playoff at the Hero World Challenge, Hideki snagged his second title at the event (the first dating back to 2016) and notched an impressive 21 worldwide career wins. Casual. No big deal. But you know the TEE is never far away… Wyndham Clark stirred the pot again, this time with some not-so-subtle public shade about the course conditions in the Bahamas. Let's just say his comments on Albany's Bermuda grass were anything but "politically correct," and Kass & Syd are breaking down the reactions. Then it's time to decode one of the most high-pressure, life-changing events in golf: PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. The ladies break it down stage by stage because yes, it's confusing and explain exactly what's on the line: PGA TOUR cards, Korn Ferry status, future careers… the works. And to make it even juicier, they're joined by a special guest, Lea Martinson, who gives an inside look at what it's like supporting her fiancé as he prepares for the Final Stage. But the week doesn't stop there. Kass and Syd wrap with a sneak peek at the Grant Thornton Invitational, the mixed-team event bringing PGA and LPGA stars together, with 16 powerhouse pairings ready to battle it out in Naples.  This episode is one you'll want to listen to tee to green! The landscape of restrictive covenants transformed in 2025, driven by a new administration's approach to federal oversight and decisive legislative action at the state level. Employers now face a complex environment where broad federal bans have stalled, but state-specific regulations—and opportunities—are rapidly evolving. Key Takeaways for Employers: Federal Enforcement Continues: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is still challenging unreasonable non-compete agreements despite withdrawing its nationwide ban appeal. Florida Favors Employers: Florida solidified its position as an employer-friendly jurisdiction with the new Contracts Honoring Opportunity Investment Confidentiality and Economic Growth Act, which explicitly permits restrictive covenants lasting up to four years. State Laws Evolve: Key state-level non-compete bills are pending in Illinois, Washington, and New York—employers should stay updated. Epstein Becker Green attorneys Daniel R. Levy, Carolyn O. Boucek, and David J. Clark break down these critical developments in this episode of Spilling Secrets. Each Disney Princess movie is set in a different time and part of the world. For many they are a first glimpse of history and cultures outside of our own. But have you ever wondered what life was really like for your favorite Disney Princess? Let's take a look at each of Disney's 16 animated Princesses, including the latest addition, Asha, to determine where and when they are most likely set. Then I'll match each iconic princess to a real-life royal woman from the same time and place. So we can get a sense of what life without witches, curses and singing animal sidekicks was really like. In some cases there are interesting similarities; Eugénie de Montijo really did go from rags to riches like Cinderella, Catherine of Valois was a sleeping beauty like Aurora and Mihrimah Sultan was a respected leader like Jasmine. So put on your ballgown and tiara, or strap on your armor and let's compare Disney Princesses to real history! Season 3 Episode 3 brings major chaos, questionable bragging rights, and a whole lot of golf tee. Kass and Syd dive right into Thanksgiving break stories, including Syd's borderline outrageous claim to fame: playing with a Korn Ferry Q-School player, draining a 60-foot par putt, and getting promoted to Producer. Kass, naturally, has feelings about all of this. Then the girls break down what's happening at the Hero World Challenge, Scottie Scheffler being Scottie Scheffler, Tiger dropping schedule updates, and Keegan Bradley winning a Skins Game that somehow ended with Xander Schauffele making… zero dollars. Yes, zero. They also sat down with this week's guest, PGA Professional Golf Coach, Georgia Ball, who brings the kind of insight Kass and Syd think a few pros might want to hear. And because the drama never stops, the episode wraps with a preview of next week's big storyline: Final Stage of 2025 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry, where the pressure is insane, the rules just changed, and the last TOUR cards for 2026 are up for grabs.
