Vijftien jaar oud was ze, toen Shemima Begum in 2015 met twee vriendinnen afreisde naar het Kalifaat van IS in Syrië. Negen jaar later zijn haar vriendinnen dood, de drie kinderen die ze daar kreeg van haar Nederlandse man ook, en zit Begum al jaren vast in een gesloten vluchtelingenkamp. Haar kans op terugkeer naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk wordt steeds kleiner. In 2019, een dag nadat een cameraploeg haar in het Syrische kamp wist te vinden, kondigde toenmalig minister Sajid David al aan haar Britse paspoort af te pakken. Vorige week bevestigde rechters in hoger beroep dat dat besluit rechtsgeldig is. Kun je iemand statenloos maken? En is het van belang om mee te wegen dat Begum destijds maar vijftien jaar oud was, en vermoedelijk een slachtoffer van grooming? Die vragen klinken nu aan de linkerzijde van het Lagerhuis, maar ook aan de kant van uiterst rechts.  Ook in deze aflevering Waar is Kate Middleton?
