ALAN OLDHAM has been called “Detroit's Renaissance Man,” equally as known for his art as for his music under the pseudonym DJ T-1000. The Detroit-born polymath, now living and working in Berlin, began his dual careers in the late 80s. First as the host of the “Fast Forward Program” on WDET FM 101.9, Detroit's first-ever radio show devoted exclusively to electronic music, and as a young indie comic artist, writing and drawing his own original creation, “Johnny Gambit” (predating the Marvel character). Oldham was later tapped by his childhood friend, Derrick May, to illustrate the label art for the record, “Nude Photo,” on the fledgling Transmat label, and Detroit Techno history was made. Oldham was later hired by another childhood friend, Jeff Mills, to do PR for the nascent Underground Resistance collective, writing press releases for the label. When Mills departed for a solo career, partner “Mad” Mike Banks tapped AO to replace him as DJ for their Australian Tour of 1992, and the codename DJ T-1000 was adopted. Jumpstart to infamy. Since then, as an international DJ, Oldham has spun all over the planet, as far afield as Manila, The Phillipines, and Shanghai, China. When he's not behind the decks at home clubs Tresor Berlin and Suicide Circus (Berlin), on the road or in the studio making music for BPitch Control, Suspected Music, Third Ear, Elypsia Records, or his own Pure Sonik Records label, he is making new paintings and organizing art openings showcasing his iconic works. Oldham has put on art happenings in Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, and Detroit, as well as his works being currently on view at the Design Museum in London, as part of its “Electronic: From Kraftwerk to the Chemical Brothers” exhibit. On the graphic novel side, he has also worked on the Afrofuturist classic “The Book of Drexciya, Vol 1.” Oldham is keeping busy during the current pandemic, drawing and painting, doing commission work, online teaching for RAMP Academy, making new music and remixing with MASCHINE MK3 and ABLETON, and generally moving forward in one of the world's most creative cities, Berlin. In venues such as, Space Ibiza, Suicide Circus Berlin, Rex Paris, Razzmatazz Barcelona, Hyte Amsterdam, or festival as DGTL, Nature One , MAYDAY, to name a few, the Argentinian´s definition of techno has been clearly demonstrated not only through his DJ sets that are as devastating as they are uplifting with his serious kick drums, use of hi-hats and reverberating basslines, but also through driving his own organically produced techno forward with an EP released on Chris Liebing imprint CLR - 'Sincrodestino', remixes for SOMA - Slam Reverse Proceed Remixes, his recently releases on Jam, Sam Paganini's label and Spanish best seller label Suara only to scratch the surface, cutting his industrially chizzled sound with melodical rythms both elegant and almost eloquent in nature. His album ‘In Safe Hidding' released on mid 2016 on the german label Nachtstrom Schallplatten by far his most personal and reflective piece of work, as it is, in his words, "statement of freedom” was acclaimed by the press, Mixmag Germany album of the month, and rated with a 10/10. His music is now recognized and played worldwide having artists such as, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, Sam Paganini, Amelie Lens, Len Faki, Dave Clark, Ben Sims, Speedy J, DVS1, Joseph Capriatti, among many others, as supporters of his work. Errorbeauty - Mix for Modulations Bulgarian born, London-Berlin based Errorbeauty has been meticulously piecing together her impressive catalog of releases since beginning Djing back in 2003. A professional flute musician by way of background, she gradually became drawn to electronic music's intricately textured soundscapes - more specifically the broken, aggressive shades of Detroit Electro. In 2012 she moved to London where she started her musical journey as a producer, meeting many artists whose music she's been collecting for ages, and rapidly appeared on the scene playing alongside Plaid, Mr Switch (4 times DMC World champion), Andrea Parker, ADJ, Bitstream, Flint Kids to name a few. Errorbeauty's work continues to evolve and offers listeners a distinct reflection of Motor City's relationship with the genre whilst demonstrating her own unique perspective of Electro, which brought her twice to the legendary Tresor Club for Berlin Atonal. Earlier this year she has performed at Berlin's underground well-respected event series Skizze in OHM as well as Bold, Exquisite Berlin and Disobedient Circumstance at Suicide Circus Berlin where she proudly became one of the residents in the club this year. Here´s our 42nd Podcast mixed by... ...Andlee, from Berlin. When DJ Andlee emerged for the first time “onto the deck” from his small, humble Thuringian cellar beginnings, no one suspected what consequences these self-initiated ventures would have. Today he is one of the most booked DJ’s in central Germany, having already left in his path numerous great performances to sparkle on the steps of his career. Given where he now is, he would not have recognized himself, had one asked him way back then. From there he assembled DJ experience from his countless gigs, later moving to his absolute favorite club, the Joue Joue Club in Erfurt. Since then he’s been a permanent feature of the JJ Allstars, yet another gem in his fairy tale story rise to fame, opening doors to various festivals like the SonneMondSterne Festival, Sommernachtstraum meets Loveleeday, Waterbeats Festival, Sunside Festival, etc. These appearances at well-known clubs like Suicide Circus Berlin, Bienstädter Warte, Club Zooma, Locca, Klangkino, Chemiefabrik Dresden, altes Salzwerk Wilhelmshall, etc. have also called attention to Andlee, advancing him bookings for their parties. And if all this wasn’t enough, Andlee also creates his own tracks to optimize his sets in order to stand out from the crowd by defining his own style, as no one more than Andlee despises ready- made commercialized mishmash. “What ever” being one of his first creative outpourings and proving popular at the clubs, we look forward to what he’ll regale our ears with next.
