They reveal that by making joy a non-negotiable part of their lives, they found themselves more energized, productive, and aligned with their purpose. Tune in to hear three key takeaways: redefining success to include joy and fulfillment, slowing down to connect with what truly matters, and trusting intuition to guide decisions for deeper alignment and abundance. When it comes to Equestrians, our horses often have the best of everything but neglect ourselves. One thing that riders are guilty of forgetting about is their own nutrition which is why I have Andrea Parker from @rider.nutrition as my guest this week. Andrea is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with 10 years experience, she is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and Provisional Sports Dietitian. She has worked in a variety of settings from the Intensive Care to Community Mental Health. Andrea is passionate about helping riders learn to fuel, hydrate and recover effectively so that they can have their best ride every ride. Andrea combines the principles of sports nutrition and intuitive eating, to help riders fuel well while maintaining a flexible, all-foods-fit approach. Andrea is an equestrian first and foremost, who has tried her hand at most disciplines in her younger years, however, her true passion lies in dressage. Andrea now competes and trains an OTTT Castor. Today we talk about the importance of fueling yourself possibly when riding and competing not only for performance but also from a safety aspect. How hydration can affect your cognition and reaction times. That horse riding is actually a very energy-intensive sport, and we often don't even think about all the things that we do around riding and how much energy that takes too. That treating yourself with compassion is not a weakness She also gave some tips on how for those looking to focus on their nutrition And possibly the best pieces of advice that I've gotten from this show If you would like to follow Andrea or find out more about working with her: Instagram: @rider.nutrition Website: www.andreaparkerdietitian.com Where to find me : Instagram: @chrissyhfitness Tiktok: @chrissyhfitness Website: www.chrissyhawkins.com Want my FREE Kickstarter workout guide? Andrea Parker & Paul Adams - Melys - in conversation with David Eastaugh The group was formed by Andrea Parker (vocals) and Paul Adams (guitar and keyboards) when the two met in Betws-y-Coed in 1996. The two became both musical and personal partners and recruited Adams' brother Gary Husband on drums and their friend Carys Jones on keyboards. After releasing two EP's with local label Ankstmusik the group was signed to Pinnacle Records releasing their first album Rumours and Curses in 1998. Unfortunately their relations with Pinnacle, always strained, fell apart completely when that label went bankrupt at the end of the year. The group subsequently founded their own label, Sylem Records, on which their second album Kamikaze was released. Jones left the band at around this time to be replaced by Richard Eardley who continues as bassist with them to this day. John Peel, a long-time fan of the group (and for whom they recorded 11 Peel Sessions) introduced the group to Dutch band Seedling in late 2000 and they released a split single in collaboration with them (the song on Seedling's side was called "Cool Baby My Hips Go Woo") in early 2001.
Superfan duo of The Pretender join me in illustrating the endless appeal, why the show is even bigger overseas in places like France, Italy, Germany and Spain(!) and why its crossover show Profiler is also rather beloved! What cable channels still air reruns of either? Why is Michael T. Weiss and Andrea Parker both so downright underrated in their talent? Why can't more shows mix elements of The Fugitive, Equalizer, T.H.E. Cat and X-Files? Isn't is wild how Jeffrey Donovan started out on this before his mega-hit show Burn Notice? And more in-depth love letters to this one of a kind escapism filled show! Teacher evaluations could be a valuable part of helping educators get better at their craft. But that's not how they work at Mayor Lightfoot's CPS. Instead, they chiefly reflect whether a given school gets the resources it needs — or not. That's why a great teacher getting great ratings at a selective enrollment school can suddenly find that their ratings dip considerably when they move to a school that isn't showered with adequate classroom supplies, a rich curriculum, and top-notch facilities. In today's episode, co-hosts Andrea Parker and Tara Stamps talk with CTU Research Director Pavlyn Jankov to unpack how REACH ends up punishing rather than lifting up teachers, disproportionately striking at those educators of color who daily teach students coming into their buildings with the highest needs. In this episode of CTU Speaks!, Tara Stamps sits in for Andrea Parker as co-host alongside Jim Staros to talk with Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, who is a professor in the Department of African American Studies at Northwestern University. Prof. Taylor, who frequently writes and speaks about Black politics, racial inequality, and social movements, recently penned an article titled "Who's Left Out of the Learning-Loss Debate" for the New Yorker. Her article explains how the concept of "learning loss" is being weaponized to target teachers unions and educators. The purveyors of the idea of "learning loss" assert that the desire of educators to stay safe — and the decision of predominantly Black and Brown parents to keep their kids home while their communities bore the brunt of death and loss — is to blame rather than the massive disruption to social and civic life caused by the pandemic itself. Prof. Taylor also discusses what is needed to address the deep inequity that stalked public schools in Chicago and across the country even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The measure would add the right to collectively bargain over wages, conditions, and workplace safety to the Illinois Bill of Rights. Predictably, right-wing extremists are campaigning against the measure because they are warriors against any effort to rein in corporate power, so our guests make the case for mobilizing a big "yes" vote on November 8. We also get into the Illinois Network of Charter Schools' (INCS) decision to bankroll a series of racist mailers against the elimination of cash bail. Apparently, they think only those with money should have the right to be free until proven guilty. For more information about voting on November 8 including a full list of CTU's endorsements, go to ctulocal1.org/vote. Want to be part of the conversation? On this week's show: An update on the Case New Holland strike from the Work Stoppage podcast. Then, reports from two education-focused podcasts: from AFT In Action, a conversation highlighting the advantages that a strong labor-management relationship can have on working conditions and student learning; and, from CTU Speaks! co-hosts Andrea Parker and Jim Staros talk with Lauren Bianchi and Chuck Stark, two teachers at Washington High School that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot sought to fire this past summer. Their crime? Teaching their students about the city's plan to move the toxic metal shredding corporation General Iron from wealthy Lincoln Park to the Southeast Side, which has already suffered more pollution and toxic industry than almost any other region of Chicago. Do you get lost in all the mumbo jumbo of incentives for developers and wonder what they cost taxpayers, local government, school districts and even the public library? This week on the Heartland Labor Forum, the basics of TIFS and Star Bonds and other ways we subsidize builders. Our last segment comes from 43-15: A Labor Lab Podcast: when tour guides at Yellowstone National Park started unionizing to bargain for higher wages, a consistent work schedule, and better housing conditions, they were quickly fired. In this episode of CTU Speaks! co-hosts Andrea Parker and Jim Staros talk with Lauren Bianchi and Chuck Stark, two teachers at Washington High School that CPS sought to terminate this past summer. Their crime? Teaching their students about the city's plan to move the toxic metal shredding corporation General Iron from wealthy Lincoln Park to the Southeast Side, which has already suffered more pollution and toxic industry than almost any other region of Chicago. CPS actually requires teachers to provide “culturally relevant” curriculum to their students, but when Chuck and Lauren's students put those ideas into action and organized protests targeting the mayor, the mayor sought to retaliate against these teachers for their support of this grassroots movement. When it came time for the Board to vote on CPS' recommendation to fire these dedicated teachers, however, the Board refused to do so, voting unanimously to keep these teachers in the system. In this episode, we unpack what it took to get justice for these teachers. In this episode of CTU Speaks!, cohosts Andrea Parker and Jim Staros talk with Chris Goff from the American Federation of Teachers about student loan debt. The three of them discuss how student debt has ballooned out of control, and how the AFT sued the federal government over unscrupulous and predatory practices to help borrowers attain some debt relief. They also explain what members can do about their own debt and review some of the resources out there to assist them in the process. Are your goals and aspirations coming truly coming from your heart? In today's episode, I interview Andrea Parker, a former police detective turned human potential coach, who helps goal-oriented individuals really get in touch with a life of joy and fun. Together we talk about falling back in love with life, the pillars of a life that is enjoyable for you, and how to get back into touch with your values and your heart. Sometimes we are far in something, a project, a relationship, or career, where things aren't jiving anymore. Sometimes our goals don't have the intention or values that they need to truly be met and enjoyed. Andrea helps explain how to live from your heart instead of from a reactive place, and start accomplishing goals and live to your fullest potential. She wants you to ask yourself, “How much more fun can I make this life I'm living?” Some resources mentioned in the show: The Demartini Value Determination Exercise The Heart Freedom Method You can find Andrea at: https://andreaparkercoaching.com/ https://www.instagram.com/andreaparkercoaching/ Talk soon, Nicole www.nicoleaunaturel.com
Le catalyste Standalone: Exclusive IDM & electro & Techno Podcast sets
On this episode #127, Le Catalyste Standalone Series receives Mx.Tactful for a weird idm-braintech-electro set with lots of validated references with the regretted Mira Calix, and some other women that strongly marked the electronic music scene like Andrea Parker, K-hand, Ixindamix and Dasha Rush to name a few. This name dropping shall easily makes you imagine how vast is the eclecticism of this set and how strong will be the intensity of the journey! Mx.Tactful is one of many to have come of age in the thick of UK rave culture. As she and her friends got sick of dodging police and bad pills, they retreated to the smokey clubs and bedroom studios that could still offer respite from post-thatcher chaos. While some of her friends had found moderate success by the late '90s, Mx.Tactful's music stayed largely unheard. This all changed after a chance encounter in a welfare office led to the release of 'MARGIN MACHINEs' on Table Jelly Dishes; a new label from Lara David aka Chekov. Table Jelly Dishes is a new home for hyperkinetic techno and punchdrunk pop, curated by Lara David off the back of releases on Peach Discs and Cong Burn. To celebrate Soma's electro sub label @avoidantrecords new vinyl release ‘Dark Planet', we have invited new Avoidant artist, DJ Godfather! Listen here: https://avoidant.fanlink.to/darkplanet With techno originally hailed as The House Sound of Detroit - there's no denying the motor city has its own definitive genre: Ghetto Tech. A true pioneer of the sound, DJ Godfather, like so many in Detroit was inspired by local radio - WJLB, The Electrifying Mojo and Jeff ‘The Wizard' Mills - but for Brian Jeffries, aka DJ Godfather, it was scratch DJs, hip hop and DMC battles that kick-started his love for turntablism. Playing house parties and teen clubs as a 15-year-old, DJ Godfather quickly learned how to keep a dancefloor hot - and having actually purchased The Wizards' turntables from the man Jeff Mills himself, DJ Godfather honed his craft. At 17 he found himself playing downtown bars and gigs in the suburbs, before taking off to warehouse raves and illegal parties, like those at Detroit's Packard Plant. An intimidating force behind the decks, he's known to drop 60-to-70 records in a one hour DJ set, with plenty of flair, beat juggling and Detroit hustle in between. With his first solo record coming through the Twilight ‘76 label he set up in 1994, DJ Godfather would go on to establish the Databass imprint - still going strong with 150-plus releases - along with a specialised set of sub-labels including Juke Trax and D.E.T. Only. For more than 25 years now DJ Godfather has been an advocate for ghetto tech at large, consistently drawing the biggest daytime crowd year-for-year at Detroit's Movement Festival - uniting juke and jit dancers alike - while also exploring a myriad of genres like Miami bass, footwork, electro and more. Hooking up with the likes of Keith Tucker, Andrea Parker and DJs Deeon, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Fat Boy Slim over the years, it was only in 2020 that he saw the release of his 44 track debut solo album, Electro Beats For Freaks. Following that up in 2021 with a 46-track second LP titled This Thing Of Ours, and the 2022 D3T.3L3CTR0 album - DJ Godfather never loses faith in how his music can bring different people and genres together. “To me ghetto tech is a culture; mixing techno, house, electro, and booty records to create one vibe,” he says. “I do ghetto tech records because it's me. My one music that I'm passionate about. Love.” Tracklist via -Spotify: http://bit.ly/SRonSpotify -Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/ -Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroup Archive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/ Subscribe to our podcast on -iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh -Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3 -Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts -Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezer Keep up with SLAM: fanlink.to/Slam Keep up with Soma Records: fanlink.to/SomaRecords For syndication or radio queries: harry@somarecords.com & conor@glowcast.co.uk Slam Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

They look back at what the CTU looked like when Jesse became vice president under then CTU President Karen Lewis, and they reflect on what the CTU did to re-shape the entire debate about public education — in Chicago and beyond. And Jim and Andrea grill Jesse about what comes next after president, including where he might teach and if he plans to become a delegate again! They break down what's good and what's not so good about it as well as some of the safety resources on the CTU's website, including this chart tracking implementation of key aspects of the agreement. This episode of CTU Speaks! has co-hosts Andrea Parker and Jim Staros speaking with CTU President Jesse Sharkey and CTU Vice President Stacy Davis Gates about what the new school year might bring for educators, students, and parents in Chicago. The recent surge in COVID cases among young people is creating a wave of anxiety about school openings, not just here but across the country. CPS continues to drag its feet at the table as they unilaterally attempt to roll back last year's health and safety protocols. That means, as Jesse and Stacy explain, it will be critical for CTU members to build a robust safety committee in every school to identify problems and demand solutions when issues arise. As always, please share your thoughts and questions with the CTU Speaks! team by emailing ctuspeaks@ctulocal1.org or calling 312-467-8888. She shares her insights on how technology can shape health equity for often underserved groups and the importance of inclusive research design. We also touch upon how the digital divide impacts health outcomes and the emphasis on digital wellbeing during the pandemic.
What is the first thing that crosses your mind when you say "athlete"?⠀ ⠀ Don't worry, there is no right or wrong answer...but be honest with yourself. What thought first popped into your head? No editing yourself. No judgment here.⠀ If you're like me, I didn't picture myself or a fellow equestrian - not even a famous equestrian or Olympian rider. What does that say about us as equestrians, our equestrian cultural norms, and our perceptions of what defines an athlete? And even more importantly, what does this say about how you take care of yourself and fuel and support your body, mind, and spirit in your equestrian pursuits? It's not really even a matter of realizing that as an equestrian you are a true athlete. It's really a matter of recognizing and then building the wellness habits you need to nurture and support yourself so you can be as safe, healthy, and happy an equestrian athlete as possible. Feel like you could take a little better care of yourself? If that's you, then this podcast episode is for you. In this episode I chat with my friend, Andrea Parker, nutritionist and coach, dressage aficionado, and owner of The Equestrian Athlete. She dives into why you should realize that you are an athlete, no matter your riding level or goals. Laying bare some of the blind spots in our equestrian culture that do not serve your health, well being, or your equestrian goals, Andrea shares some thoughtful nutrition and wellness insights that you can easily apply to raise your mindfulness around caring for yourself as an equestrian. And you probably already know that riding is just no fun when you don't feel well or your head isn't in the game. So you can see how building habits to be your healthiest, happiest athlete self will help you enjoy your equestrian journey to the fullest, can you not? Ok, so ready to get started? Listen now to this episode on nurturing yourself as the equestrian athlete you are. Remember: You won't grow until you nourish.

This episode of CTU Speaks! has co-hosts Andrea Parker and Jim Staros speaking with Tara Stamps, the longtime educator and activist who is now the CTU's Administrative Director of New Teacher Development. Tara is heading up recruitment to the "We Care New Educators and Clinicians Coaching and Mentoring Program,” which connects new educators and clinicians with veterans who can provide support to them in the early years of their teaching careers. A critical aspect of this multi-pronged effort is to recruit and retain new educators and clinicians of colors, so that CPS' majority Black and Brown student body has more opportunities to work with and look up to adults who look like them. “You can say you want more freedom. You can say you want more… adventure. You could want a loving relationship. But it's not what you say you want — it's what you actually believe.” Andrea Parker From her first day at the police academy, Andrea Parker knew a career in law enforcement wasn't the right fit for her. Despite that, she went on to achieve great success, graduating at the top of her class, rising quickly to the rank of detective, making a salary over six figures. Still, even with the pride she took in serving the public, Andrea couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. That's where her personal development journey began. Within 12 months of becoming a human potential coach, Andrea not only grew exponentially more grateful and grounded, but doubled her personal finances. In this episode, we learn what can happen when we learn to let go of limiting beliefs and learn to live from the heart. Teachers are on the ramparts again. This time in Chicago where the members of the Chicago Teachers Union are gearing up for a possible strike if they can't get a decent contract to improve wages, win a hard cap on class size and increase staffing. To talk more about the struggle for a good contract, I'm joined by Andrea Parker, an English teacher and union vice president, and Robin Blake Boose, a first grade teacher. I, then, take a look at what's up in Ohio: You would think that people there would be ready to revolt, to overthrow the oligarchs and the elites and the corporate raiders who have effectively strip-mined the economy, destroying factory jobs and making sure new jobs don't have decent wages because those same raiders fight unions tooth and nail. Even though Ohio voted for Trump, the people re-elected incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown, a progressive, clear populist, quite comfortably in 2018. Populism works. I talk with Amy Hanauer, the executive director of Policy Matter Ohio, about the organization's recent deep dive look at Ohio's economy. -- Jonathan Tasini Follow me on Twitter @jonathantasini Sign up for The Working Life Podcast at: www.workinglife.org Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.tasini.3
