We welcome the second coming of Tomas Bexton, a veteran crate digger and deep house & techno specialist from Maidstone in Kent, England. This is yet another vinyl-only session from a true master, hot on the heels of his debut for us in December last year as part of the Avenue Red Is 10... mini series (link below). Now, let's just quickly make an observation - Tomas knows how to select and mix. There ain't no sync button, for he is the sync button. More black gold bullion from his magnificent and broad record collection heaped onto the Avenue Red deep summer house vibes 2024 bonfire! Hit it crew. "Very honoured to be invited for a second run with the unstoppable Avenue Red portfolio of talent! I think some spring & summer feelings were in the air with this one as once again, deep and jazzy house rule the way for the majority of the mix. I did want to change the direction at the end though with a tiny sprinkle of dub techno or the like. Featuring tracks from Alton Miller, DJ Q, Derrick Carter, Altone, Juniper and others - I hope you enjoy this vinyl-only mix... big love to the global house family! PS. The pic is taken from an avenue round the corner right where I live in Maidstone. And strangely, everything looks red today!" Welcome back guys, here on ESOA Podcast. Unfortunately, once again my guest for this episode cancelled just before the end. This immediately inspired me to record a musical special for you. I decided on a Chicago House and Techno special. Alongside Detroit, Chicago is clearly an important cornerstone. Without it, techno and house would not exist in their current form. Think about the impact that tracks like Move your Body or Acid Tracks still have today. Frankie Knuckles began playing early electronic productions back in 1977 in the then newly opened, rather run-down but well-equipped Warehouse club. A sound that continued to develop into later house and techno, with great, unforgotten names such as Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, Adonis, Tyree Cooper, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Frankie Knuckles, Steve "Silk" Hurley, DJ Pierre, Phuture, Mike Dunn, K-Alexi Bad Boy Bill, "Fast" Eddie Smith, Ron Hardy and Derrick Carter made history. The sound was released on labels such as DJ International, Dance Mania, Jack Trax, Underground Records and Trax Records. Friends, let this sound inspire you for the next two and a half hours. Have fun with ESOA Podcast 072 by myself, Thomas Schubert. Thanks for tuning in. Hello Decisive Series Subscribers,Roberto Ingram your podcast host and producer here, I'm thrilled to bring you yet another insightful conversation with a remarkable artist shaping the landscape of electronic music. Today, we have the privilege of delving into the world of Jan Kincl, a Croatian DJ, record producer, remixer, engineer, and live performer whose work has captured the attention and admiration of audiences worldwide. International media placed Jan among "the most interesting voices coming from the region", and his debut album, a deeply jazz-informed house record "In Plain Sight" recorded with a French keyboard player Regis Kattie, got described as “one of the most significant pieces of regional contemporary dance music” with support from Laurent Garnier, Derrick Carter, Alton Miller, Jazzanova, Volcov, Tony Humphries, Lefto, Claude Young, Jimpster, DJ Bone, Mark Grusane, Kai Alcé and many more.“An amazingly beautiful album! Very deep.” - Claude Young“The funk's all over this project!” - Kai Alcé“Superb deepness!” - Laurent GarnierBorn and raised in Zagreb, Jan is a product of the late 90s clubbing scene emerging in Croatia. A then-teenager, who embraced the music of the Motor City as a teacher has grown into a recognizable presence in the regional music life. Today, Jan is equally recognized for the music crafted in his Cycle studio, and life-long dedication to the art of DJing. Influenced equally by jazz and hi-tech jazz, he is devoted to a more traditional way of presenting music and feels more aligned with artists not limited by genres or eras. New, old, fast, slow, soulful, or rough. For Jan, the juxtaposition of all this is what DJing is about.Even though the majority of his work is dance music, this broad approach allowed him to operate in different scenes. Remix for a Brazilian legend Ivan Mamão Conti (Azymuth) on the legendary Far Out Recordings, remixes for a German jazz-funk band Key Elements on Jazzanova's Sonar Kollektiv label, a solo 12” under CVER alias on Oye Black Label, and a track on Deep Inspiration Show Records' ‘Family Things Volume 1' all came out in a period of a single year. The last project to hit 2020, though, were reinterpretations of Radojka Sverko's ‘Kud Plovi Ovaj Brod', a special 50th-anniversary re-release of a 1970 chanson classic which holds a unique place in Croatian music folklore. In 2021, Jan is continuing the string of releases for BBE Records, PDV Records, Get Physical, and Deep Inspiration Show Records. On top of that, a debut record from Cycle Records, his recently launched label, is coming out. Titled "For A Minute", a 12" features two of Jan's original versions, and two remixes from a Chicago house legend Gene Hunt.In parallel with working on his own music, Jan's had a decade-long run lecturing on the subject of ‘History of Electronic Music' at the Music & Sound department of United Pop Academy, still ongoing, and is running CYCLE - a studio, and music production company based in Zagreb.Contact us here to book Jan for a DJ show, live performance, or lecture/workshopJoin us next time for another episode of the Decisive podcast series, where we'll continue to explore the stories and sounds shaping the world of music today. Press correspondents for Coda and Trax Magazine between Chicago and Paris, the two guys helped promote the Underground sound in Europe, interviewing some of the greatest legends: Paul Johnson, Cajmere, Derrick Carter, Dance Mania Crew and more. 25 years after the most beautiful private parties, Alex returns to the mix to promote the underground once again, through various Radio Shows on SoundCloud, with current tones and the launch of a label planned for next year. "I don't complain, I create." The house DJ talks about her new multi-platform project, Honeyverse, and using music as a way to celebrate the Black queer community. Honey Dijon is a queer house music icon whose reputation precedes her. Originally hailing from Chicago, she grew up experiencing the city's nightlife, eventually beginning to DJ and produce alongside contemporaries like Derrick Carter, Mark Farina and other artists who shaped the Chicago house music canon. Throughout her career, she's been an active spokesperson for trans rights and a champion for the BIPOC community, and last month she put on her greatest platform for queer Black culture to date: Honeyverse. The multi-platform Honey Dijon experience took place at London's Southbank Centre, bringing club nights, live sets, orchestras and intimate conversations together in a takeover that drew its inspiration from her roots in Chicago's Black queer community. In this RA Exchange live from Southbank Centre, Honey Dijon talks to Josh Caffé about her connection to house music, an art form made from rejection and thus marginalised in the annals of music history. Her work, she says, is about giving visibility to the voices that were lost in its development and creating a more expansive platform for queer artists from the Black and Latinx diaspora. "This is a celebration of love, joy and acceptance," she says of Honeyverse. Back to the house music because this is where house music rests and thrives.Thank you for stopping by and taking a listen. I appreciate you for that. There aren't many guarantees in life, but I guarantee that you'll LOVE this 3.5hr journey of house music bliss. You can fight it, but that smile will creep on your face and stretch from ear to ear. You'll start to nod up and down to this hypnotic rhythm. You might even move and dance. It took over a month to find the tracks in this new session!! Bought 53 new tracks from Traxsource and got a bunch of free tracks from download links from videos by this YouTube channel that I recently found, Child of House (Check them out). Lots of cool house bootlegs, especially some fantastic Sade tracks. Anything with this Goddess sounds great with a four-four beat. Probably take another month to get through this channel's videos. The process is all the fun. The journey in different areas of my life creates joy. It makes the struggles less painful and the good things more wonderful. All the best to you. Till another time.---------------Image Credit:1997 at 9am on a Sunday at Comfort Zone. I was 23yrs old and 135lbs. Had a full head of hair. LMAO!! B.P.M. Session Podcast "Lives" 2023, LFG!!! (http://www.facebook.com/TheBPMSession) Created from the Los Angeles, California Studio Apartment over looking DTLA. Your dance mix designed to make you move, this time mixed by Adam Auburn @daytripla dad. @insomniacevents party thrower. house music player. 1/2 of @friendlyfiredjs, https://linktr.ee/adamauburn, http://www.facebook.com/djadamauburn2 or https://twitter.com/adamauburn or https://www.instagram.com/adamauburn Firmly planted in the riches of house music history, but neatly poised to move forward into the future, Adam Auburn has dedicated his life to the music he loves. The buzz probably all began for Adam in 2004, after winning the first ever Traxsource DJ Competition, sparking a whirlwind of international attention for the East Coast native. In 2008, the ginger-bearded house music advocate moved to Los Angeles, where he was blessed to be discovered by Insomniac, placed on display at their weekly events at Exchange, and ultimately the Festival Stages at Beyond Wonderland, Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape From Wonderland, and EDC Week Las Vegas, and Orlando. Auburn's unique versatility as a DJ has allowed him to play alongside a range of Artists as wide as his love for dance music—including everyone from Tiesto, Kaskade to Diplo, Knife Party, TJR, Oliver Heldens, Duke Dumont, John Digweed, Maceo Plex, Maya Jane Coles, the Martinez Brothers, Hot Since 82, Claude VonStroke, MK, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Louie Vega, and so many more across 15 years of DJing. Auburn's deep love of house music can be found not only in the infectious energy that resonates from his DJ performances, but also through the award-winning house music events his production company, Auburn Events, has put on for over 10 years—including Afternoon Delight (#2 Pool Party in the US—Thrillist 2015). In 2014, Adam began working as the Director of Marketing & Entertainment at Exchange LA & Academy LA, and more, continuing to do whatever he can help push the music he loves forward into the future. This is his mix recorded Live at Beyond Wonderland 2023, if you would like to hear the entire mix go to his Soundcloud at http://soundcloud.com/adamauburn and download it in it's entirety, lots of other goodies are also available for free, the track list is also available there! dattrax: HiYaAAA Fellow House Freaks!! I hope you're all well and doing what you can each day to better yourselves.Whatever you're going through, it will pass and you can displace negative with music. This mix is 'smooth as butter'... as the saying goes. This mix took three attempts in order to get the right feel. In search of that elusive perfect mix that never happens. Sometimes the first take is fantastic. Usually, it can take up to 12 attempts. Yes, DJing for 30yrs and still making tons of mistakes. LMAO. I've always made mixes for my enjoyment and fulfillment first, then for my best friend and DJ partner (when we DJ at live events), Jimmy Zoo. We grew up together loving house music (met in our late teens), going out dancing, DJ'ing and we were crazy "Black Crack"/vinyl record junkies. House was and is our release from our shitty jobs and life.If someone outside of us two like our mixes, then that's a bonus, so thank you for visiting us here.Any track that we bought that we loved and had never heard of before was "new" to us regardless of when it actually came out. It was always about the combinations. Endless, fun, and sometimes inspiring and magical. The right tracks on top of each other or in any way that it's mixed. It's beautiful. I have a personal rule to never repeat a mix combination. I've only broken that a handful of times. One of Jim and I's favourite house music DJs is Derrick Carter because his mixing style is so interesting and unique. His combos are surprising and delightful. He could play out of our collection of tracks and because of how he selects tracks and mixes, the mix will have his sonic signature. The same can be said for many good house DJs.All the best to you as always.---------------Reach out to us and comment if you've enjoy our mixes.Just Google 'dattrax' and find all places online that we've been a part of.Please share with your family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances who could use a dose of musical candy.Isn't music such a great escape?---------------DJ Bookings for Canada, the US, or Global: dattrax@gmail.com---------------Any amount of support would be appreciated if you'd like to donate or support our music addiction. L!TO [ linktr.ee/litojaxx ] is a house music DJ, Producer & Label Owner based in Oakland, California. Born and raised in Manchester, England, he became exposed to early rave sounds, acid house and oldskool hip hop! This introduction into the world of music were what made making and mixing beats second nature to him…. Nowadays L!TO is heavily influenced by the jacking sounds of Detroit & Chicago house music from artists such as Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Daft Punk and the man himself DJ Sneak! Through this, a vinyl junkie was formed. Technics 1210s were an investment in perfecting the art of mixing with L!TO moving out of his bedroom and into bars, and clubs. Establishing residencies and promoting nights in Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds. 4 hour, VINYL ONLY sets on Saturday nights became a weekly occurrence, with recognition in local and international journals respectively... Later, L!TO began to produce his own sounds and has tracks released on some globally respected labels such as Ammo Recordings, Chicago Skyline, Seventy Four Digital and more recently a 4 track EP on Phil Weeks label Robsoul Recordings. The track 'Brules Groove' featured on 'THE BEST OF ROBSOUL 2018' compilation. After meeting with Barney Osborn at ADE, they formed their own label Jacked Out Trax in 2018. A flurry of releases followed from renowned artists within the House Music scene - Filta Freqz, Rich Martinez, Jonene and many more! Jacked Out Trax has 40+ releases under its belt, extending its global reach to a select roster of producers, and is set to continue gaining recognition within the jackin house genre. As a DJ, L!TO continues to push his own unique disco-infused, jazzy, jackin house sets to crowds around the world, with label parties and global guest appearances alongside luminaries such as DJ Mes, Colette, Arturo Garces and Jason Hodges to name but a few... Episode 038 with Justin Martin Video Version: https://youtu.be/tsmSWtnKs9A Justin Martin is a San Francisco-based house DJ and producer whose best tracks and remixes tend to be lean, finely melodic, and a little playful. He debuted with the 2003 single "The Sad Piano." Released on Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly label, played by Derrick Carter and Pete Tong, and licensed by Steve Bug, the single got Martin's recording career off to an impressive start. Additional singles for Buzzin' Fly and Utensil were out by the time Martin and Claude VonStroke co-founded the Dirtybird label, an outlet for both producers' solo tracks, Martin's partnership with Christian Martin (as Martin Brothers), and other artists such as Ardalan. Martin's debut album, Ghettos & Gardens, was released on Dirtybird in 2012 with new productions, a handful of remixes, and a "remake" of Goldie's "Kemistry" all part of the program. Justin moved away from dirty bird pursue in his new sound and focus on his productions. With this Justin had started his own label, whilst not ready yet, Justin continues to put the hard work into his new label by doing all the designing, editing, organizing you name it, his 100% effort has started and will continue to grow his label. DJ Colette on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 About DJ Colette - DJ, producer, vocalist – Colette has grown from an integral part of the Chicago underground into a breakout musical triple-threat releasing her most accomplished and fully realized artistic statement to date.  Combining the tunefulness of classic pop songs with the thump of classic house of her hometown, the album ventures into new sonic territory for Colette, from intimate bedroom beats to stadium-shaking dance anthems. When the Music's Loud is the sound of an artist at the peak of her powers. Always seeking to push boundaries and explore new territories, Chicago native DJ Colette, continues to discover ways to push her craft and career forward even after over two decades of leading the pack. A founding member of the pioneering DJ collective Superjane—along with DJ Heather, Lady D, and Dayhota—Colette has been an integral part of the Midwest underground since the birth of the 90s. Crafting events in Chicago—ones that would see most of Chicago's second generation of house music artists and DJs graduate to global scales—her Material events at the storied club Shelter in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood were seminal in the development of the house sound of Chicago's North Side, from the early 1990s on. Colette's groundbreaking combination of incorporating her live vocals over into DJ sets became her signature and a definitive technique that's won her fans from six continents. As a natural extension of her formative musical academia at Lane Tech College Prep, she began making recordings, with her first release appearing on 1995's “Moments of Epiphany” produced by Mazi & DJ Motion for Shroom Records. With an ever-increasing velocity of singles released for independent mainstays such as Icon Recordings, Moody Recordings, Nordic Trax, Brique Rouge, including Derrick Carter's seminal Classic Music Company, eventually led to recording two successful full-length efforts—2005's Hypnotized and 2007's Push—for San Franciso's legendary imprint OM Records. With multiple Dancestar Awards, commercial licenses, TV placements, and a Top #5 Billboard Hit, Colette was ready to make the next move in her career from not only just making records and playing them, but the upward motion to releasing them as well. Colette launched Candy Talk Records in June of 2010 as a platform for more creative control with her own music, their collaborations, and the choice and freedom to work with other record producers of whom she is a fan. Since then, Colette has personally released eight singles and two full-length efforts of her own work—2013's crowd-funded When The Music's Loud (named one of Vice's 99 greatest dance albums of all time) and 2017's Retrospective. Releasing remixed and original works from the likes of Gettoblaster, Sonny Fodera, Late Nite Alumni, Lawnchair Generals, Rubb Sound System, Scrubfish, WhiteNoize, Demarkus Lewis, Chuck Love, Golf Clap, Local Options, Change Request, and more she has created a home for other like-minded creators to have a platform for their work. With an ever-growing roster of musicians, producers, and DJs, 2019—thus far—has seen Candy Talk release East Coast production stalwart Pete Moss' mixes of Colette's “Dreams”, which peaked at #4 on the Traxsource Deep House Top 100. Establishing a remix series highlighting particular producers, Candy Talk has released two volumes in this series thus far with The Rubb Sound System Remixes (CTR015) and The Gettoblaster Remixes (CTR016), and The Demarkus Lewis Remixes (CTR018) featuring his reworks of "Call On Me", “Dreams”, and “We Feel So Hot” slated for the last quarter of 2019. Looking forward, the label anticipates celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020 with a compilation centered around the best of the Candy Talk catalog—including some new tracks—(CTR019) in the first half of the new year.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. As a DJ, L!TO continues to push his own unique disco-infused, jazzy, jackin house sets to crowds around the world, with label parties and global guest appearances alongside luminaries such as Arturo Garces and Jason Hodges to name but a few...
