This episode, Aaron and Pat are joined by Superman Forever Radio host, Bob Fisher. This time out, Bob regales our hosts (minus Matt), with tales of his misspent youth reading comics about a certain Kryptonian and how he fell into comic books. Also, the guys discuss some of Superman's past tv shows and movies, and of Bob's thoughts on the upcoming Krypton tv show, after a few sidebars about other comic trivia. Somewhere along the way, they also talk a little about DC comics and it's various Crisis', reboots and revamps. Where they went right and where they may have gone wrong... Four new stories! Three origins! Or, like, nine depending on how you look at Secret Origins #48. It starts when Ryan Daly and the Irredeemable Shag try—with little-to-no success—to crack the origin of Ambush Bug. Then Doug Zawisza and Ryan discuss the origin of Stanley & His Monster. Then Shag returns to talk Rex the Wonder Dog. Finally, Ryan enlists Bob Fisher to class up the joint by uncovering the origin of the Trigger Twins. Hello out there, you wonderful people you, and thanks for listening to another episode of Just One of the Guys. This week, our look at the Green Lantern and Guy Gardner books begins with Green Lantern #61, where Kyle and his snuggle bunny (I'm pretty certain that's the correct term Kevin Dooley mandated she be called) Donna Troy are having a nice little picnic...or the surface of Mars (Hope they didn't tell J'onn J'onnz, because he might be a little miffed with them cavorting all over the barren wasteland that was once his home). But the fun and finger sandwiches will have to wait for our duo, as the Overlord of Apokolips, Darkseid, has sent Kalibak to break up their happy-fun time. And Darkseid also does a little tag popping...whatever that means. Over with Guy, we get a trip to Metropolis in Action Comics 709 where our favorite morphing ginger tries to get some help dealing with his wacky alien hybrid DNA from the Man of Steel. But mostly what he gets is a beatdown in the Metropolis Tunnel, where they appear to be pretty lax in allowing people to transport hazardous materials. This leads into Guy Gardner Warrior #30, where we find out who would win in a fight between Guy and Superman...and strangely enough, the winner is actually SuperGIRL...who saw that coming? Plus we get Mitch Byrd drawing the Last Son of Krypton, which is always awesome for me. But the biggest bonus this episode is I have another wonderful guest host with me this time. Mr J David Weter, host of PAD Smash, Superman Forever Radio, and Green Lantern's Light amongst a myriad of others was kind enough to drop by and add his humor, wit, and charm to the show. Plus he did the synopsis for Action 709, so less work for me...huzzah! As always, David was a blast to have on the show, and you should definitely go check out his podcasts. So unless you want Darkseid to whip out his mad beats on his kickin' sound system, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!
