James Gavsie rolls in with the ever-lovin' blue-eyed brawler—Ben Grimm, The Thing. A street-smart Brooklyn bruiser wrapped in skyscraper-grade rock. He's wrestled gods, arm-wrestled Hulk, tanked cosmic blasts, and still finds time to crack a joke between punches. When Ben says “It's clobberin' time,” that's not a catchphrase—it's a weather alert.Eric Holmes fires back with Superman's broken mirror—Bizarro, the backwards titan of chaos. A twisted echo of the Man of Steel with frost-breath colder than the grave, heat-vision that burns wrong but burns hard, and strength that casually shatters continents—mostly by accident. He means well. He just destroys things while meaning well. The arena detonates: Cosmic brick versus corrupted Kryptonian. Grimm's battle-born discipline against Bizarro's unpredictable, planet-crushing wildness. Can Ben's never-say-die grit out-slug a backwards god, or will Bizarro prove that even the strongest rock in the Marvel Universe cracks under opposite-day Superman?Listen now to find out....Who. On this episode of the Caped Wonder Superman Podcast, Jay Towers and Jim Bowers talk with Prop Store's Stephen Lane in London about December's big auction featuring the original Kal-El starship from Superman: The Movie, a Christopher Reeve tunic, General Zod's wig and boot, rare scripts, photos, Kryptonian costumes, and more. Jay and Jim get the inside scoop as only they can in this special edition.
Farewell General Zod, you were quite the idiot!Clark now has the Book of Rao, but only to find out it will teleport every Kryptonian to their "paradise" world to start fresh. Since that includes Clark, he decides to lead his people to their new lives and has to say goodbye to his loved ones. Chloe gets pissed, Oliver doesn't care, and Lois gets told she needs to pick Africa over love. BUT, before Clark can do anything, Zod and his Kandorians begin committing gang violence across the globe because that's how you take over the world (apparently). Britt Irvin, Michael Shanks and Alaina Huffman all return as DC Comics original characters Courtney Whitmore ("Stargirl"), Carter Hall ("Hawkman") and Dinah Lance ("Black Canary"), respectively. Phil Morris and Lee Thompson Young make their final appearances as DC Comics original characters John Jones (“Martian Manhunter”) and Victor Stone (“Cyborg”), respectively. As always, enjoy the show and LEAVE THOSE FIVE STARS!
Mikey & Jeremy watch S7E7 of Smallville, "Wrath". They discuss Kryptonian foreskin, super sex, and stray butt cheeks.
It took a little while for both guys to see it and then to record about it, but Preston & Todd finally review the new "Superman" movie. - Did the Geeks think this movie got the tone for Superman correct, especially when compared to the Superman interpretation in the DCEU? - Do the Geeks feel like Perry White & Jimmy Olsen know that Clark Kent is Superman, or is the hint in the movie only about them knowing Lois Lane has a thing with Superman, or is it left ambiguous either way? - Did the Geeks like the portrayals of Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and all the support characters? - In what ways did Lois Lane remind Todd of women he's worked with before? - What were the Geeks' favorite things plus nitpicks about the scene where Lois interviews Clark on the record as Superman? - What possible connections was Todd able to make between Clark's abilities as a reporter, his relationship with Lois, and the possibility that Perry knew he's Superman? - Did Preston feel this movie's version of Lex Luthor was authentic to the comics, and what comparisons did Preston make between Lex and real-life people today? - What similar complaint about Lex Luthor in this movie did talk have about the villain in "Fantastic Four: First Steps"? - Did the Geeks like the Justice Gang? - What were the Geeks' favorite things & nitpicks about Krypto the dog? - Were Clark's parents portrayed as "too country" or "bumpkiny," or were they just right? - What did the Geeks feel about the twist with Clark's Kryptonian parents, and what comparisons did Preston make to Omniman from the "Invincible" comics & cartoon? - Was Jimmy Olsen successful as comic relief, or was his treatment of women problematic, or are both true simultaneously? - Does it seem like Eve Teschmacher is in another movie, and is it left too ambiguous whether she was smart all along or only smart when it really mattered? - Was the classic "Superman" theme used the right amount in this movie? - How important was it to the Geeks that this movie is bright & colorful? - How much of a prude is Todd for feeling like there's too much profanity in this movie? - Was this a good start to the DCU, and is James Gunn the right person to be leading the franchise? - And, what direction do the Geeks want the next DCU movies to go next?Listen now for the answers to these and other super questions as we fly high with "Superman."Please rate or review us wherever you listen to podcasts. Caught between worlds (and potential world wars), Superman follows our titular hero as he attempts to navigate the political implications of his desire to save others. When he finds himself in the crosshairs of Lex Luthor, Superman (and Clark Kent, for that matter) must battle against public opinion as the villainous Luthor attempts to poison his reputation by revealing an unknown secret about the Kryptonian's parents. This week, Dave Voigt and Timothy Rideout return to the Fortress of Solitude to discuss the impact of Supes and whether or not kindness truly is 'punk rock'.

In this episode of The Biollywood Podcast, the Executive Director of the Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense, Dr. Asha M. George, Research Principal, J.T. O'Brien, Policy Principal, Robert Bradley, and our new intern, Madi Kim, tackle James Gunn's Superman (2025), the first film in DC Studios' new shared universe. Premise: Gunn's film drops us into a world where Superman is already an established hero. After stopping Boravia from invading Jarhanpur, Clark faces backlash and is publicly outmatched by the “Hammer of Boravia,” later revealed as Ultraman, a clone orchestrated by Lex Luthor. Luthor unleashes a kaiju in Metropolis as a diversion, infiltrates the Fortress of Solitude with the Engineer, and broadcasts the restored second half of a genuine Kryptonian message from Jor-El and Lara, in which they urge their son to conquer Earth and “take many wives” to repopulate their species—sparking a rapid collapse in public trust. In this week's episode of Going Back to Smallville, we're diving into one of the most baffling hours of the entire series. From weird plot choices to character decisions that made us yell at the screen, this one had it all — and not in a good way. But somewhere under the chaos, there's still heart, Kryptonian drama, and that unmistakable early-2000s CW charm. Let's unpack what went wrong, what still works, and why Kara Zor-El deserved way more than this.GET YOUR 30 DAY FREE TRIAL OF AMAZON PRIME HERE

In which the Mister joins me in reviewing SUPERMAN (2025), from writer/director James Gunn, based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film dives into the complexities of Clark Kent's (David Corenswet) dual life, exploring his struggle to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as he navigates his role as both a journalist and the Man of Steel. The film sees Superman facing unintended consequences after intervening in an international conflict, leading to a tarnished reputation and presenting his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) with an opportunity to exploit the situation. Ultimately, Superman must win back public trust and confront Luthor's schemes with the help of his colleagues at the Daily Planet and his loyal super-dog, Krypto. The film clocks in at 2 h and 9 m, is rated PG-13 and is still in theaters. #superman2025 #jamesgunn #dcuniverse There was a lot riding on James Gunn's first swing at Superman. It's the first major motion picture in his DC Universe and would mark a dramatic change of tone from Zack Snyder's last projects with everyone's favorite Kryptonian. Fortunately for all involved, it was a big hit at the box office --- but did it put wind in our capes? As two nerds for movies, comics, and comic book movies, you'll want to stick around and share your thoughts on not just this movie, but what it hints at for the future of this new chapter for DC Comics on the silver screen. Send us a textAs promised, this week on episode #109 of "Fabulous Film & Friends we're going to weigh in on the two big ticket super hero extravaganzas from the Summer of 2025: James Gunn's Superman starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisando, Wendell Pierce, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Sara Sampaio and Nicholas Hoult up against The Fantastic Four: First Steps directed by Matt Shakman and starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner and Ralph Ineson. Returning for yet another daringly detailed deep dive into the world of fantastical four colored fantasies is nephew to a comic bookstore Kingpin, author, teacher and hypnotherapist, Joe Field. Before we blast off into the Ultra-Negative Zone, the synopses: In 2025's Superman, it is 3 years into his mission and Earth's Champion, The Man of Steel has met his match in Lex Luthor who causes a distraction with a giant monster and breaks into Superman's secret Fortress of Solitude where he translates a message from Superman's parents in which they instruct their son Kal El –Superman's Kryptonian name-- to take over earth and spread his seed. Using this jarringly awkward info to turn public opinion against our hero, Luthor has also made a clone of Superman called Ultraman who continually batters and beats the Man of Steel into submission. On top of that, Luthor has a Pocket Universe where he jails his enemies including his ex-girlfriends. And Lex has Ultraman place Superman in a cage with another a super powered being named Metamorpho who can weaken Superman by turning his hands into Kryptonite. Ultimately, Luthor's cruelty overwhelms Metamorpho who helps Superman escape the pocket universe but it in doing so, the unstable dimensional rift threatens to swallow Earth. It is only with the help of scrappy reporter Lois Lane and a team of heroes called The Justice Gang that Superman that is able to beat Ultraman, Luthor and close the rift. There's also some political stuff going on with two made up countries going to War because of Luthor's manipulations. In The Fantastic Four: First Steps it has been four years since Reed Richards, Sue Storm, her brother Johnny and Ben Grimm were transformed by cosmic rays into the world's protectors, super stretchy genius Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and the rock man known as The Thing who are biggest celebrities on the planet. The exciting news that team leaders Reed Richards and Sue Storm are expecting their first child is put on the back burner by the arrival of the Silver Surfer the herald of the planet eating Celestial known as Galactus. Galactus tells the Fantastic Four that he will spare Earth in exchange for their yet unborn child, but that his too high a price to pay. With the public opinion against them, and world watching nervously, the team springs into action and devises a incredible plan to teleport planet earth into the far reaches of space. But then the Surfer and Galactus arrive and put the kabosh on the plan so the FF amends the plan to send Galactus himself into the far reaches of space, which seemed like the better strategy to begin with. Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned. James Gunn. 2025.
On this episode of The Post Credits, we're suiting up to review James Gunn's Superman (2025) — the first official chapter in the new DCU. With David Corenswet donning the cape and Rachel Brosnahan as a sharp, fearless Lois Lane, the question is: did Gunn's vision soar, or just take a cautious first flight? We're breaking down the performances, the tone, the villains, the Daily Planet vibes, and all the connective tissue (hello, Guy Gardner!) that might shape the DCU moving forward.
James Gunn is one of the most prolific and successful screenwriters and directors out there. After bringing the Marvel films, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, to the big screen, he was hired as the head of DC films to set up and bring to life the world of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. After successful products like THE SUICIDE SQUAD (2021) and PEACEMAKER (2022), he's back with the true kickoff to the DC Universe with SUPERMAN (2025).From IMDB: “Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.”The new Superman film stars David Corenswet as the lead with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The aggregate website Rottentomatoes has given it great reviews from both audiences and reviewers alike. Your co-hosts take a look at this big budget beginning to the DC Universe and give their thoughts.

today we're kicking off a special two-part deep dive into the most talked-about superhero film of the summer — the brand new Superman movie. And let me be clear: this one is spoiler-heavy, so if you haven't seen the film yet, you've been warned.I've assembled a Fortress-worthy roundtable of Superman experts and superfans to unpack every detail — the triumphs, the missteps, the Easter eggs, and the big swings this movie takes with the Man of Steel. “I'm not messing around. I'm doing important stuff.” We watched “Superman” (2025) with our friend and resident Supes expert, Billy Roach, and we welcome our newest Kryptonian overlord. In a growing list of Supermen, David Corenswet has proven himself to be quite possibly the dorkiest entry, and gosh darn it, it's so endearing! We're not going to waste too much time answering the trolls' review bombing this movie - instead, we're going to celebrate what we liked about it. Not the least of which is the chemistry between the leads - Corenswet's Superman and, yes, Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor. Okay, Rachel Brosnahan is doing some fine work as well, but we're really digging Nicky and Corny's performances as these iconic characters. It's gotta be tough to bring anything new to Superman and Lex Luthor after so many iterations, but these two brought it - and let's be honest, they're not too tough to look at either. Nicky's baby blues are worth the price of admission! We don't forget about this press tour, in which our two boys are publicizing their aforementioned chemistry and landing the crucial disposable income of the gay male moviegoing audience. Frank and Squeaks dive headfirst into James Gunn's Superman, the movie that's recharging DC with new energy and old-school heart. They break down everything—from the pacing that mimics a stack of comics, to character performances, visual highs and lows, and why this might be one of the most human versions of Superman we've ever seen. They also debate Guy Gardner's scene-stealing turn, Lex Luthor's layered villainy, the potential setup for Bizarro, and what it all means for the future of the DC Universe. This one's packed, passionate, and full of geeky joy. Our Theatrical Recommendation 51:00 Closing Remarks Key Takeaways: James Gunn's Superman blends nostalgic charm with a modern, fast-paced narrative. David Corenswet's Superman is emotionally grounded and feels deeply human. Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, delivers a fresh take that balances public genius with private obsession. Guy Gardner and Mr. Terrific both exceed expectations, with standout scenes that highlight their personalities. The film's pacing mirrors a comic book run—nonstop but rewarding. The twist about Superman's Kryptonian parents adds emotional weight without breaking canon. Visual storytelling uses lighting—especially sunlight—as a powerful symbolic tool. Bizarro may be hinted at for future films, adding another exciting layer. While some characters like Hawkgirl were underwhelming, others like Krypto left a lasting impact. Quotes: “This is the Superman I pretended to be when I was running around the house as a kid.” – Frank “Lex Luthor isn't trying to rule the world—he's just obsessed with stopping Superman.” – Squeaks “It feels like you picked up a stack of DC comics and read them in one sitting.” – Squeaks “David Corenswet might be the most human Superman we've seen on screen.” – Frank Call to Action: Love what you heard? This week, Shat the Movies finally kneels before Zod—and listener Chris Lloyd—by reviewing Superman II (1980), the sequel that gave us Terrence Stamp's immortal sneer, Margot Kidder's bathrobe thirst, and Christopher Reeve's blue-eyed beefcake perfection. This episode dives headfirst into the Donner vs. Lester debate, asks how much ejaculate the Fortress of Solitude can handle, and questions Lois Lane's true intentions once Clark Kent drops the glasses—and the powers. Gene and Big D examine everything from Superman's bizarre morality and dubious revenge tactics to the wildly impractical Phantom Zone prison system. They also debate if memory-wiping kisses and cellophane logos deserve a place in superhero canon and why Perry White's newsroom features a threatening photo of Bill Cosby. Whether you're team “Mormon Dad Superman” or “Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex,” this episode delivers laughs, awkward truths, and more than a few inappropriate questions about Kryptonian sex. Plot Summary After banishing Kryptonian rebels General Zod, Ursa, and Non to the Phantom Zone, Superman continues his life as Clark Kent—until a hydrogen bomb explosion in space releases the trio. Landing on Earth, they gain Superman's powers from the yellow sun and quickly set their sights on global domination. Meanwhile, Lois Lane grows suspicious of Clark's identity, prompting him to reveal his secret and sacrifice his powers to be with her. But when Zod and his cronies begin wreaking havoc—and Lex Luthor joins their side—Superman must reclaim his abilities and protect humanity. The final showdown brings the villains to the Fortress of Solitude, where Superman uses brains over brawn to save the world, while also redefining the meaning of romantic boundaries with a memory-erasing kiss.
