A movie with this reputation and this level of talent should be expected to at least be a competent film. But somehow Clint Eastwood chose the most tepid, non-committal way to tell a story that has more in common with great existential novels than Westerns. And that might be interesting, if it weren't for the fact that this movie is also convinced it's a western. Gene Hackman is acting his ass off and being just about the meanest son of a bitch you've ever met. But everything else in this movie just feels totally and completely missed, and that's a problem we can't solve because it happens to be one of the most lauded films of all time. Another round of Sinister Six comes to a close, but our monkey business is far from over. 1976's A*P*E confronts us with an all-too-familiar question: “What If King Kong, But No Plot?” The answer may shock you. A 36-foot-tall gorilla escapes his captors at sea, battles an extra-large shark, and then makes landfall in South Korea. Also visiting the country is movie star Marilyn Baker, quickly joined by her old flame, “jokester” journalist Tom Rose. The Korean and U.S. militaries are hesitant to believe reports about A*P*E roaming the countryside, so the giant monster manages to elude them for about 80 minutes of runtime. Not helping matters is Col. Davis being perpetually drunk and Capt. Kim giving Tom free jeeps. Ultimately, the only thing capable of stopping A*P*E is the viewer turning the movie off once the 15-minute montage finale begins. In this new episode, Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna speak about the disappearance of Zebb Quinn from Asheville, North Carolina since January 2nd, 2000. Robert “Jason” Owen, was a 21 year old co-worker who Zebb occasionally played pool with.  On the night of January 2nd, 2000, Zebb had been working and clocked out of Walmart at 9:02 p.m.  He met up with Jason in the parking lot.  They headed south on Hendersonville Road and stopped for drinks at the Citgo gas station. In this new episode, Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna speak with Worcester State University archives librarian Ross Griffiths about the mysterious Bennington Triangle disappearances of Vermont and the disappearance of Paula Welden on December 1st, 1946. Paula Welden was last seen on the afternoon of December 1st, 1946. She left the campus that afternoon after telling her roommate she was going for a hike. Several hikers reported seeing her on the Long Trail, just off Route 9 near Glastenbury Mountain. She was reported missing by her roommate the following morning, after she did not return to campus. An extensive search of the area did not show any signs of Welden. Investigators from New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut assisted in the investigation, due to limited police services in Vermont at the time. Numerous theories were investigated, but no conclusive outcome was ever determined.
