The bargain hunters are in the market but many big funds and family offices are concentrating more on building cash: That’s because investment markets are more than 'uncertain' just now - in reality they are unfathomable.Today's guest spot goes to one of the best-known investors (and philanthropists) in Australia, Chris Cuffe. --------- In today's episode, we cover: * Asset allocation in an age of extreme uncertainty * What investors at the big end of town are doing now * Philanthropy for the active investor * Tax optimisation in charitable giving See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
New research has revealed that large numbers of motorists are making changes to their driving habits in response to the ongoing increase in petrol and diesel prices across the country.More than 13% of motorists are now using public transport more frequently, with 11% opting to walk more, but what about those in more rural areas? To discuss this news, I'm joined by former Green MEP for Dublin, Ciarán Cuffe.
We continue looking at a bold new approach to sustainable living—neighbourhoods that don't just cut energy use but actually generate more than they consume. With the EU ramping up its housing and climate commitments, Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods (SPENs) are proving that entire districts can be energy-positive while remaining affordable and inclusive. One initiative leading the way is syn.ikia, an EU-funded project demonstrating how social housing providers across Europe an deliver these climate-friendly communities. But what will it take to movefrom pilots to widespread adoption? To help us answer that, we're joined by Ciarán Cuffe, recently elected Co-President of the European Greens and a key architect of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). We'll discuss why theneighbourhood approach is essential for decarbonising Europe's building stock, the biggest political and practical barriers to scaling up SPENs, and how the social housing sector can play a leading role in this transition. And with major developments at the EU level—including the first-ever Commissioner for Housing, a European Commission task force working across policies, and growing momentum for a pan-European investment platform—couldthis be the breakthrough moment for energy-positive neighbourhoods? Stay with us to find out.The syn.ikia project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 869918.
Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 79-71 win over Boston College. The Orange used a late 22-6 run and were clutch at the free throw line down the stretch to earn its first road win of the season. JJ Starling was one of first Syracuse players in double figures with 26 points. Eddie Lampkin added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Kyle Cuffe gave SU a major lift off the bench in the second half, including two clutch 3-pointers. Brent also discusses how Adrian Autry needs to flip his starting lineup to JJ Starling, Cuffe, Eddie Lampkin, Jyare Davis (if Donnie Freeman is still out with injury) and Lucas Taylor and if Syracuse can "punch up" and beat Louisville on Tuesday night at the JMA Dome. Brent also got amazing feedback from Syracuse Sports Insiders on SU's win over BC. Become a Syracuse Sports Insider today! With the EU closing in on a major revision to perhaps the single most important legislative driver for decarbonisation of buildings, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), we spoke to the architect of the proposed changes, Ciarán Cuffe, who gave us some fascinating insights. It was a chance to talk about thinking big and the challenges associated with instituting large-scale change.A veritable sustainability, built environment, and political polymath, Ciarán is the Green Party MEP for Dublin and rapporteur for the European Parliament on the next recast of the EPBD.Originally published in 2002, the EPBD is the reason we have EPCs/BERs/DPEs, for all their flaws and benefits. It's also the reason we have the nearly zero energy building (NZEB) standard as a mandatory requirement for new buildings across Europe since 2019.But the original directive and previous recasts have left certain problems unresolved, and Ciarán told us about work to update the directive to ensure it can help to drive meaningful change in decarbonising the European building stock. It's worth noting that Ciarán's not just a politician too. He's a qualified planner, architect, lecturer at Technological University Dublin, and a former Minister for Planning in the Irish government.**SOME SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**We don't actually earn anything from this, and it's quite a lot of work, so we have to promote the day jobs.Zero Ambitions Partners email address - zap@eiux.agencySubscribe and advertise with Passive House Plus (UK edition here too)Join ACANJoin the AECB Email Alex and Dan about websites, branding, and communications - zap@eiux.agency; Everything is User Experience**END OF SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**

Hi everyone! I'mmmm baccccckkkkkkk lolol. Welcome to my new podcast "Back Atcha with Brandon"! I planned on making a short premiere episode but ended up ranting for an hour. I delve into the origin of my new podcast and what you can expect moving forward. I then move onto some pop culture and discuss the unfortunate passing of the iconic Betty White, my true feelings on the Kardashians, and a recent divorce that took place in the Biden family. I then move onto some reality TV and discuss the newest episodes of Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives of Miami. This was so fun to record and I can't wait to record more! Hope you all enjoy :)

In this epsiode, I discuss the history of resettlement or re-colonization efforts on behalf of black and white Americans. This episode focuses on Frederick Douglass and his complex relationship with President Abraham Lincoln. Their opposing stances on the issue of African American re-colonization will be put into conversation with the pro-resettlement initiatives of a slightly lesser-known figure, Paul Cuffe, and his relationship with President James Madison.
