Tami turned 50 and is asking "what's next". We sit down and gain a bird's eye view of her life and what intentions she'll be bringing to her future as she rebalances her entrepreneurial work with more of what truly brings her joy.
I sit down in conversation with Mr. Davidson. Who is Mr. Davidson you ask? Well, I grew up across the street from Mr. Davidson and his son was one of my closest friends. This is where the story gets interesting. There were 3 men in our neighborhood all named Richard (aka: Dick) and they all were diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Two of them passed away (including my dad) and one has been a survivor for 7 years. I talk with Mr. Davidson about his journey and what he thinks helped him to be a PC survivor for 7 years and at the ripe old age of 83. This episode was difficult for me as I lost my father 10 years ago to this disease and I know how much Mr. Davidson misses him, as you will hear him refer to him as Dickey Neumann. I do have more questions. How could 3 men within 3 blocks of each other get Pancreatic Cancer? This boggles me and I want to know more. For now take a listen to this podcast and stop by my website for a quick blog about Mr. Davidson as I talked further with his daughter Debby. www.TamiNeumann.com Follow me on Instagram: @NeuTam And as always I am featured on the Whole Care Network. www.WholeCareNetwork.com//unscripted-life-improvised/ Looking for some help with Pancreatic Cancer? Join Dave Nassaney, The Caregiver's Caregiver, as he interviews Co-Founders,Tami Neumann and Catherine Braxton, Founders of Silver Dawn, Senior Friendly Cities What Does Senior Friendly Mean? In the simplest of terms Senior Friendly is a concept that challenges us to pro-actively prepare for a major change in our current demographic. The Baby Boomer generation. Senior Friendly means taking a long hard look at senior issues such as health care, lifestyle, dementia and senior consumer behavior and facilitating an inclusive environment. Why Certification? As our nation ages we will have more seniors aging in their own homes. It is important that we have the necessary supports and understanding to help our seniors thrive in their own environment, the place they call home. This certification will help to delay age-related illness and promote health and independence for as long as possible. By creating this type of environment, the community will find that seniors will continue to thrive and contribute to the city through involvement in the city and patronage of local businesses.
Please join us to learn about making your community senior friendly. We hear that we need to prepare for the Silver Tsunami as the boomer generation ages and become seniors. How do we even begin to face this daunting task? Our guests today, Tami Neumann and Catherine Braxton, have confronted this challenge and created comprehensive programs to facilitate businesses and entire communities in becoming certified as senior-friendly. Tune into our show to learn what it takes to become senior friendly in areas such as health care, lifestyle, dementia care and in creating an inclusive environment. Learn about how their efforts enabled the first city in the state of Illinois to become certified as senior friendly. What did it take to make this goal a reality for Blue Island, Illinois? How did this change life for the seniors, their families, area businesses and overall quality of life? What can a change like this do for your community? How can you advocate for this program in your community? We hope you will join us for a time of learning and conversation.During our 30 minute segment, you will be able to submit your questions for Tami and Catherine via the web chat or our call-in number.
