World Record vs Olympic Gold. A debate that has gone on forever between athletes and fans on which is more valuable. In a recent poll, between 100m legends Donovan Bailey, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell, the majority of people selected Asafa Powell as the the person who has a greater 100m career, while Donovan Bailey was selected the least. This was interesting considering Powell, though had set the world record, had never won an Olympic medal. While on the flipside, Bailey had both set the World Record and won Olympic Gold. So which is more valuable, a World Record or Olympic Medal? -------------------------------- Host: Anderson Emerole | @emeroleanderson on Twitter SUPPORT THE PODCAST

Are the Olympics missing a signature athlete, perhaps we've been spoiled with Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, etc. Chuck continues his ABCs series and Alton Robinson joins the show live from Seahawks training camp!
In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the United States men's 4x100m relay team was favored to win. The athletes on the American team were outstanding. They included Tyson Gay, the man who ran the fasted ever 100m time in the world. The Americans hopes for a gold came crashing down during a qualifying race when the baton pass from Darvis Patton to Tyson Gay went bad. Tyson dropped the baton. The drop was so costly the United States did not even finish the race. It doesn't matter if you are the fasted 100m runner in the world, if you can't pass the baton to the next athlete, you can't win. This week we learn the church is like a relay race. Just as important as running our race for Christ is passing the baton of leadership to the next generation that will take our place. Join us as we learn how to pass the baton of faith to the next generation and finish well.

The two then address proper acceleration mechanics and things to know when looking at mechanics for different sized athletes. To finish, Ken discusses his use of resisted sprinting, implores coaches to not be concerned with resistance "ruining," mechanics and the studies that back up the application of loads when it comes to acceleration and improving speed. All that and more on this episode of Muscles and Management!Show Timestamps:7:45 - Importance of Acceleration and Getting Behind the Center of Mass10:45 - Explaining Complex Things to Athletes Properly15:45 - Drills for Acceleration19:30 - False Acceleration Angles (Posture)23:00 - Popping Up Too Early & Causes32:12 - Impact of Size in Sprinting34:30 - Tyson Gay & Usain Bolt Comparison40:20 - The Idea of “Quick Feet”44:45 - 60’s in Baseball52:55 - Polarization Caused by Social Media54:10 - Resistance Sprinting1:05:00 - Contrast Work with SledsSupport the show (http://www.challengerstrength.com)

Just a few weeks before the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, two top sprinters tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. Tyson Gay is the fastest man this year over 100 metres and Asafa Powell is the former world record holder. They were the biggest scalps since Ben Johnson was stripped of his Olympic gold medal in 1988. Since then sophisticated testing programmes have been set up and systems to monitor athletes' whereabouts are in place. In this week's Report, Simon Cox examines why so few cheating athletes are being detected. He speaks to the key figures who have drawn up the most damning assessment of the anti-doping regime and the failure of individual national bodies to properly address the problem. And he travels to the German laboratory who developed a test for the latest banned drug which can still be bought legally in the UK.
