In this episode of the Growth Show we have the pleasure to talk with the Founder of podcast hosting service bcast and media company SaaS Marketer Tom Hunt. We are talking with Tom about how he started with Virtual Valley and how easily he solved the chicken egg problem of this marketplace, one of his favorite SaaS growth strategies from SaaS Marketer (spoiler: it has something to do with videos), the growth strategy he likes to use for bCasts growth, when a SaaS company should think of a deal plattform like AppSumo and how bCast leverages the growth coming from AppSumo and much much more. Today he is Managing Director of bCast a Podcast hosting service for marketers by marketers, writes SaaS growth case studies at SaaS Marketer, helps other SaaS businesses grow with a very specific podcast process and is a business angel in several startups like an AirBnB for Storage, an automation tool, a blockchain startup and much more.
Tom Hunt has experience at building several startups and SaaS businesses from scratch. After graduating from the Imperial College in London, he decided to build Virtual Valley, a marketplace connecting online entrepreneurs and virtual assistants from scratch whilst travelling the world. He then sold 90% of the businesses in 2017. He then joined Repairly as the COO, which was on demand mobile phone repair delivery service. He is now the Co-Founder of BCast, a podcast hosting platform for high growth businesses. Tom is also the Managing Director at SaaS Marketer, where they publish biweekly SaaS growth case study and runs his own podcast: Confessions Of A B2B Marketer. At SaaS Marketer, he also helps SaaS businesses grow with their own profitable podcast. Finally, Tom is an Angel investor at different companies, such as Gleam, Dusk Foundation, Taz.com, Ebsta, Parabola Labs and Stashbee. Tom Hunt is a real interesting character. He told me he moved to Poland so he could finally get a bunch of work done on his startup. Before that he was living like a king in Venezuela with black market currency exchange. His first venture was selling men's leggings - which I can totally get behind. When I was a speedskater, my mom used to make me neon colored tights to race in! From giving a TED talk to hosting his own podcast, Tom is all about letting people look under the hood of Virtual Valley on the way to his goal of selling it for $1 million.
