The Road to ‘Service-as-Software.' Salesforce co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff is articulating a bold vision for the next era of enterprise software. In an exclusive interview with theCUBE on April 25, 2025, Benioff outlined how AI-driven agents and a unified data architecture will transform Software as a Service (SaaS) into what we're calling “Service as Software” – a model where software-based digital agents augment every business process. The Salesforce chief has often quipped that today's CEOs are “the last generation of executives leading exclusively human workforces,” underscoring his conviction that AI agents (what many call agentic AI) will soon work alongside humans in every enterprise. Our premise is that this “digital labor” revolution could be more disruptive than the cloud and mobile waves of 15 years ago, fundamentally redefining how applications function. In this Breaking Analysis, we focus on Salesforce's Agentforce and Data Cloud strategies – the twin pillars of its agentic vision – and how they position the company to become what we call the first software-only hyperscaler. We also examine the broader industry context, including competitive dynamics with Microsoft and Salesforce's interoperability with platforms like Snowflake, Databricks and AWS.FULL ARTICLE: https://thecuberesearch.com/276-breaking-analysis-salesforce-agentforce-data-cloud-a-path-to-the-software-only-hyperscaler/

Boosting Hotel Revenue Through Exceptional Customer Service and Upselling with Geoffrey Toffetti Frontlinepg.com About the Guest(s): Geoffrey Toffetti is the CEO of Frontline Performance Group, headquartered in Florida, where he partners with over 2,500 hotels across more than 100 countries to generate millions in incremental revenue. His career in the hospitality industry began humbly as a valet at a Florida hotel, but his passion for sales and deep understanding of the industry propelled him quickly up the ranks. Leading FPG, Geoffrey Toffetti has guided the company through strategic growth phases, including acquisitions such as Drake Beal in the U.S. and TSA Solutions in Asia. The latter acquisition was notably carried out during the height of the COVID-19 crisis. Episode Summary: In this episode of the Chris Voss Show, listeners are introduced to Geoffrey Toffetti, CEO of Frontline Performance Group, a trailblazer in enhancing hospitality service standards and driving revenue growth for hotel clients globally. Geoffrey Toffetti shares his journey from a frontline hotel valet to leading a prestigious company influencing performance in the hospitality industry. His experience and initiatives have empowered many frontline employees to enhance customer service while influentially increasing profit margins. Through FPG, Geoffrey Toffetti established a bridge from being a service provider to a technology-first organization, especially vital during and after the pandemic era. Focusing on the myriad of possibilities within the hospitality industry, Geoffrey Toffetti discusses the unique challenges and opportunities with incremental revenues, including upselling tactics. Engagement and effective training of frontline employees have proven to pay high dividends, not just for the organizations but for the employees themselves. The conversation delves into the transformation of customer service standards over the years, implicitly hinting that true customer satisfaction and incremental sales go hand-in-hand. Geoffrey Toffetti elaborates on their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings that integrate learning management systems, which empower hotel and restaurant employees to excel by engaging customers effectively and increasing profitability. Key Takeaways: Incremental Revenue: Understanding and leveraging upselling at every customer interaction point significantly enhance the guest experience and the business's profitability. Employee Empowerment: Proper training and incentive systems can transform employees into top earners and significantly improve staff retention levels. Service First Philosophy: Sales should be viewed as a service to the customer, enhancing their experience rather than just a transactional necessity. Technology and Training: FPG provides powerful tools and training to ensure teams can maximize their potential, reflecting positively on both revenue and customer satisfaction. Consistency in Service: Achieving consistent exemplary service across every interaction is key to fostering customer loyalty and positive experiences. Notable Quotes: "Sales isn't something you do to your customer, it's something you do for them." "We want your guests to leave fat, happy, and broke." "Entrusting your best services to the guests is the best way to garner that trust and brand loyalty." "Turning common sense into commonplace." "Offer your best services is the best service you can offer."

Despite regulatory progress, investment crowdfunding has yet to reach its full potential. A newly proposed tax credit aims to change that, incentivizing millions more to participate in funding small businesses while boosting local economies.Brian Christie, co-chair of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA), and Levi Brackman, CEO of Invown, joined me on Superpowers for Good to discuss this groundbreaking proposal. The initiative, led by a broad coalition of industry players, seeks to provide a tax credit for investors who fund businesses under Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF)."The way this tax credit works is that you get half of the dollars that you've invested as a credit—up to a $1,000 cap," Brian explained. "So if you invest $2,000 in one or multiple companies in a given year, you get a $1,000 tax credit when you file your taxes."The potential impact is staggering. Although crowdfunding has already enabled millions of Americans to invest in startups and small businesses, the vast majority of the population remains unaware of the opportunity. Brian sees this tax credit as a pivotal mechanism for awareness and engagement. "If all of a sudden it shows up on your annual tax filings, a lot of people will learn about it very quickly."Levi, an outspoken supporter of the initiative, believes it could dramatically shift the financial landscape for small businesses. "Capital formation is really difficult," he noted. "In the old days, you had a local bank manager who knew you and could vouch for you. That's gone. Crowdfunding fills that gap, but we've barely scratched the surface. This tax credit could help scale it massively."Levi envisions a future where tens of millions of Americans actively invest in small businesses. "Imagine if 50 million people each invested just $500 a year. The amount of capital flowing into the economy would be enormous, creating jobs and strengthening communities."Keep reading below. Learn more at ccajp.us.tl;dr:* A new tax credit proposal could dramatically boost Regulation Crowdfunding by incentivizing millions of investors.* Brian Christie explains how the tax credit offers a 50% refund on investments up to $2,000 annually.* Levi Brackman highlights crowdfunding's potential to fill small business funding gaps in a post-local bank era.* The initiative could channel billions into small businesses, creating jobs and strengthening communities nationwide.* Advocates urge action by joining the coalition, contacting legislators, and spreading awareness to drive policy change.Beyond sheer economic growth, the proposal aligns with how the government has historically incentivized positive behaviors. "The U.S. incentivizes things like home ownership, charitable giving, and child-rearing through the tax code," Levi pointed out. "Why shouldn't investing in small businesses—arguably the backbone of the economy—be encouraged the same way?"Opponents of tax credits often raise concerns about costs or who benefits most, but Brian argues that this particular incentive pays for itself. "Our preliminary analysis, along with industry data, suggests that every dollar invested in small businesses has a sixfold ripple effect in the economy. Over ten years, the net impact on the Treasury could be an $80 billion surplus."The coalition behind this initiative isn't limited to crowdfunding platforms like Invown, StartEngine, Republic, and Small Change. It also includes investors, accountants, attorneys, and small business owners who recognize the broader benefits of democratized capital access. For those eager to support the effort, joining the coalition is free and simple. Brian emphasized that beyond signing up, individuals can make an impact by calling their legislators, sharing the initiative on social media, and writing letters to the editor. "We even provide templates to make outreach easier," he said.Levi added that persistence is key. "I've been cold-calling congressional offices, and it's amazing how quickly you can reach someone influential just by making the effort. If this matters to you, just pick up the phone and start the conversation."The proposal is strategically timed, given that key tax policies from the 2017 tax bill are set to expire. Advocates hope to see the crowdfunding tax credit included in the next major tax package or passed as a standalone bill. For those ready to take action, the coalition's website, ccajp.us/join, offers resources to get involved. This is a grassroots movement, and every voice counts. If successful, this initiative could change the game for small business investing, making crowdfunding more accessible, impactful, and widespread than ever before. In this episode of SCW for Pharma, host Evren Ozkaya welcomes Bryan Holmes, Vice President of Information Technology at Andelyn Biosciences, to discuss the evolving role of IT in pharmaceutical manufacturing and the transformative impact of digitalization on Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs). The conversation begins with a deep dive into the fundamental differences between traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing and the rapidly growing field of cell and gene therapy, a market that exceeded $5 billion in 2024 and sustains an annual growth rate of over 25%. Bryan explains how these personalized treatments, often targeted for rare diseases and small patient populations, require an entirely new approach to manufacturing, one that prioritizes agility and responsiveness. Evren and Bryan explore how IT strategy plays a pivotal role in modern pharma operations. They discuss the challenges of digital transformation, from ensuring regulatory compliance and data security to bridging communication gaps between CDMOs and their clients. Bryan highlights the ongoing shift toward data sharing, transparency, and accountability in CDMO partnerships—critical for optimizing production processes. The discussion then shifts to the cost-benefit analysis of digitalization, weighing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions against customized approaches. Evren emphasizes that while change management is difficult, companies that invest in digital transformation today will secure a long-term competitive advantage, as the pharma shop floor is poised for dramatic evolution over the next two decades. Looking ahead, Bryan and Evren explore AI's biggest opportunities in pharma. From automating routine tasks to enhancing quality assurance, AI-driven solutions are unlocking new efficiencies. Bryan underscores that the younger workforce expects technology-driven workplaces, making digitalization not just a competitive edge but a necessity for attracting top talent. Evren and Bryan wrap up their discussion with a call to action: embracing IT and digital transformation is no longer optional but essential for pharma companies looking to stay ahead in an industry evolving at an unprecedented pace.

Show Notes: Marilyn Lin, a customer support thought leader with over two decades of experience, discusses the importance of customer support in driving business success in the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry. She has led global Technical Support Teams that not only resolve issues but also foster customer loyalty, drive renewals, and inform product strategies. In today's competitive SaaS landscape, customer support is not just a cost center but a linchpin of retention and growth.   Customer Support in the SaaS Industry The conversation turns to the different terms for customer support, such as customer support, customer service, customer care, and customer success. Marilyn identifies the difference between terms. She equates customer success to the team focused on the health of a customer, focusing on how they are leveraging and using the product and solution, realizing value from their investments. They are more akin to the account management side of the organization, taking care to understand the customer's top priorities and helping guide them through leveraging and using the solution and products they have purchased or subscribed to. She explains that customer support and customer service are terms used interchangeably to describe the teams that help customers resolve issues with using their products or services. In B-to-B environments, customer support are more technical support teams, while customer care and customer service is more tactical and often describe teams within B-to-C environments.   Subcategories within Customer Support There are different subcategories within customer support, such as onboarding teams, which help new B2B customers onboard with a SaaS company. Major functions  tied to customer support include customer training and onboarding, customer delivery teams, and customer escalation teams. The support delivery team handles cases and interacts with end users, helping them find solutions to their issues. A customer escalation team is involved when customers escalate issues or outages, ensuring timely resolution. Marilyn explains that historically, customer support organizations have been seen as reactive and cost centers rather than a strategic arm. However, there is a treasure trove of insights from the interactions with end users, which can be used to drive improvements in the product and solution. This information can feed into the product development cycle, helping product and engineering teams prioritize their roadmaps and drive the voice of the customer. Support teams can also provide insights related to training and enablement, usability, and user experience, which can be shared with the enablement and design teams. The Importance of Customer Support in Business The importance of customer support in a business is discussed, including the need for analytics to understand the impact of the customer support team and how that ties back to customer retention rates. A high retention rate can lead to increased value and a better brand image. Marilyn talks about key metrics she pays attention to as VP of customer support, including the importance of understanding the time to resolution, common themes of issues, and the financial impact of these metrics is mentioned. In a recurring revenue environment, it is crucial to highlight top case drivers or issues tied back to the customers and provide the ARR to the executive team. The need to prioritize areas like product bug fixes or feature enhancements is stressed, and the cost to serve customers, breaking it down by segments and regions to better understand customer needs and improve efficiency. By focusing on these metrics, businesses can better serve their B2B customers and drive more value. Examples are shared.   Tracking Trends and Changes in the Support Business In a VP of Customer Support role, key metrics include time to resolve issues, first time to resolve, and the ability to address user issues with the first interaction. Additionally, the team and individual level is monitored to identify areas for improvement. Employee engagement is a key focus, with companies conducting quarterly or twice a year employee satisfaction surveys. The focus is on analyzing trends and identifying high priority areas for improvement. In a support organization, it is crucial to prioritize employee experience, provide the right tools and processes, and listen to employee feedback. Support leaders should prioritize their team's well-being, as it translates into better customer service and interaction. By taking care of their employees, support leaders can improve their overall customer experience.   Evaluating a SaaS Company's Customer Support In evaluating a SaaS company, it is essential to consider whether the support organization has a strategic roadmap outlining their vision and quarterly milestones. This roadmap should evolve as business objectives and priorities change. A more holistic view of investments should be considered, not just focusing on key metrics. Marilyn suggests that organizations should give their team the support to take time to step back and look for ways to make things more efficient, such as creating knowledge articles based on interactions to prevent customers from having to log cases. Training and enablement should be provided for employees to continue learning and grow.   AI Customer Support Solutions AI solutions are being evaluated and implemented by support organizations to enhance customer service. Marilyn led the first support team at Salesforce  to leverage AI and machine learning within their support processes, using SupportLogic. The app helped identify potential cases that would escalate, allowing managers and teams to be aware of potential cases and provide timely resolutions to end users. The SupportLogic app has improved the way managers manage their teams and assigned cases to the right agents with the right knowledge and experience to handle unresolved cases more efficiently. This has led to improvements in the way managers manage their teams and elevating the customer experience provided by their support agents.   Timestamps: 03:40: Defining Key Customer Service Terms  07:47: Classification of Customer Service Roles  10:22: Transforming Customer Support from a Cost Center to a Revenue Driver  13:00: Metrics and KPIs for Customer Support  18:00: War Stories and Practical Examples  21:48: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Metrics for VP of Customer Service  25:44: Evaluating Customer Service in SaaS Companies 29:07: Implementation of AI in Customer Service    Links:  Resource: https://umbrex.com/resources/how-to-analyze-a-saas-company/ Website: Golotusgroup.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marilynlin/   Unleashed is produced by Umbrex, which has a mission of connecting independent management consultants with one another, creating opportunities for members to meet, build relationships, and share lessons learned. New research report finds AI adoption poised to transform European businesses in 2025, driving SaaS growth and workforce automation

A new European research report reveals that artificial intelligence is on track to overhaul businesses in 2025, with over two-thirds expected to integrate AI-powered software by the end of next year. While AI is set to redefine many industries in the year ahead, not all sectors and markets are equally positioned to benefit, the State of European BusinessTech 2024 report found. It paints a nuanced picture of European BusinessTech, highlighting both transformative potential and emerging disparities expected in 2025. Contrary to fears that AI might disrupt the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, the report highlights that AI is supercharging SaaS growth rather than replacing it. The report found that businesses are increasingly turning to SaaS solutions enhanced with AI capabilities, driving a surge in spending. In 2024 alone, investment in SaaS and supporting tech infrastructure grew by over 20%, while spending on Generative AI infrastructure surged by 30%. The report highlights that workforce disparities are becoming more pronounced in Europe with automation advancing rapidly in desk-based roles, such as sectors like tax, accounting, HR and legal seeing AI adoption rates as high as 85%. The legal and regulatory sectors have seen AI adoption jump from 17% to 79% in just two years, signaling a dramatic shift in how businesses approach compliance and legal frameworks. However, 80% of Europe's workers - those in deskless roles such as medical, industrial, hospitality and retail sectors - are being largely left behind, according to the report. These workers receive only 1% of enterprise software funding, highlighting a critical gap in digital transformation efforts. This divide is further exacerbated by broader funding trends identified in the report. While mid market M&A activity remains strong, particularly for deals under €500 million, the lack of significant VC-backed exits above this threshold since 2022 suggests that capital flows are not aligning with the scale required for systemic transformation. Combined with a 26% drop in business technology funding across Europe in the first half of 2024, these challenges could slow the region's progress toward a more inclusive AI-powered economy, the report found. The European funding picture The report, authored by European growth capital firm Finch Capital, reveals largely dynamic BusinessTech funding across Europe, with the UK firmly retaining its position as the leading hub. The UK accounted for more than 50% of all capital raised in Europe, driven by record-breaking investment in AI for customer support, analytics and process automation. Over £6 billion was invested in UK data centres last year to prepare for the AI era, and BusinessTech funding surged by 83% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, reaching €2.9 billion compared to €1.6 billion in the same period last year.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, boasts a thriving startup ecosystem centred in Amsterdam, now home to a record 4,000 active startups. Despite this growth, BusinessTech funding in the Netherlands declined by 23% year-on-year for the first half of 2024, signalling challenges in maintaining investment momentum. As the industry forges toward more and more tech adoption, how do we keep track of these new goalposts, tools, and processes? In another live episode from Autodesk University 2024, Benny Baltrosky joins the podcast (in his second appearance) to discuss the oncoming adoption of prefab and offsite construction, the very recent transformation of DeWalt into a technology company, and how MSUITE plays into improving productivity for MEP contractors—even when brand-new tech is on the scene. Benny Baltrosky is COO of MSUITE. He is a B2B Sales as a Service (SaaS) leader driving sales and growth. He is also VP of Partnerships and Go To Market at Stanley Black & Decker, Board Member & Cofounder of Construction Progress Coalition. TODD TAKES Offsite Construction and Prefabrication are on the Rise: A major trend in construction is the growing move toward offsite construction and prefabrication, which brings greater speed, safety, and efficiency to projects. By preparing components in controlled environments, teams can avoid on-site delays and reduce overall project risks. With labor shortages affecting both field and design teams, this shift to offsite work is becoming essential for meeting tight schedules and maintaining quality standards. The Trades Are Leading the Way in Tech Adoption: MEP contractors and tradespeople are embracing technology faster than ever, transforming how they work on complex projects. They're integrating digital models, automated processes, and data-driven tools to streamline workflows, improve safety, and boost productivity. This proactive adoption is positioning the trades as leaders in the construction industry's tech evolution, quietly driving innovation from the ground up. Collaboration Across Tools and Technology is Essential for Success: Bringing together different tools and technology into a single, unified workflow is making a big impact on construction projects. By integrating processes, teams can reduce inefficiencies, improve communication, and ensure every phase—from design to field work—runs smoothly. This approach of centralizing technology and collaboration helps construction teams manage their projects more strategically, making it easier to achieve goals on time and within budget. On this week's Stansberry Investor Hour, Dan and Corey welcome their colleague Bryan Beach back to the show. Bryan is the editor of Stansberry Venture Value and a senior analyst on Stansberry's Investment Advisory. Bryan kicks the show off by discussing the GameStop meme-stock craze and the deep-value market dynamics that were at play during the whole debacle. He argues that the "dumb money" folks (such as Keith Gill) got a bad rep and the self-titled "smart money" folks weren't very smart. (3:13) Next, Bryan talks about the bubbles in special purpose acquisition companies ("SPACs") and Software as a Service ("SaaS"). He points out that the pendulum can quickly swing from overloved to overhated. Bryan shares that, because of this, he's still finding winners in the SPAC scrap heap and he believes SaaS valuations are far too low today. He also explains how retail investors got clobbered by the smart money on SPACs and why cannabis stocks present such a good opportunity now with the impending reclassification of marijuana. (17:33) Lastly, Bryan emphasizes the importance of stop losses and "guideposts" since they take the emotion out of investing. This leads to a discussion of Amazon and its many drawdowns over the course of its trading history that would have stopped investors out. After, Bryan brings up small-cap restaurant-software company Par Technology and why he has so much hope for its future performance. (28:02) Dan and Corey close things out by talking more about the resurgence of meme stocks – GameStop and AMC Entertainment, in particular – and what it means for the market as a whole. Plus, they talk about this new era of inflation we're in, the worst-case scenario of rebounding inflation, and the long-lasting consequences of low interest rates. (55:39)

As a former Navy aviator and aerospace engineer, Ali prided himself on navigating difficult situations. However, nothing could have prepared him for the challenges of caring for his ill mother-in-law while balancing work and family responsibilities. Ali and his wife decided to bring her into their home without hesitation. Still, they soon found themselves overwhelmed trying to manage her complex medical needs and navigate the healthcare system alone. At his wit's end, Ali was introduced to the TCARE protocol. Developed by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, TCARE helped Ali and his family better understand the emotional toll of caregiving through clinical assessments. To Ali's surprise, the recommended care plan focused on marriage counseling rather than just medical support. This unexpected recommendation opened Ali's eyes to how caregiving impacted every aspect of his life. Through TCARE, Ali also discovered local resources he didn't know existed, like free family counseling. Inspired by the difference TCARE made, Ali developed the program into the caregiver support platform it is today. Now, Ali dedicates his career to helping other caregivers avoid burnout through TCARE's individualized support plans and focus on preventing emotional hardships. Driven by his caregiving experiences and commitment to family, Ali continues working tirelessly to validate caregivers' challenges and connect them with the resources needed to care for their loved ones without sacrificing their well-being.About Ali:Ali Ahmadi is a veteran of three venture-backed tech startups, having raised over $100 million in funding. In this lively conversation, Elzie and Revolancer founder Karl Swanepoel explore the dynamic world of freelancing. Revolancer, born out of personal frustration with existing solutions, stands out with over 20,000 users in just two years, aiming to revolutionize freelancing by eliminating commission fees. Karl, with a background in AI and robotics, sheds light on the strategic shift to a Software as a Service (SaaS) model and the importance of first-principle thinking in overcoming industry challenges. The episode emphasizes key insights for entrepreneurs and freelancers, touching on self-confidence, networking, and standing out in a crowded market. Karl shares tactics to combat the race-to-the-bottom pricing dilemma, offering valuable advice to businesses and freelancers. The conversation dives into broader business lessons, with Karl emphasizing perseverance, learning from failure, and adopting a customer-centric approach. Highlights:09:40: I think it's really important to work with clients who kind of develop a good relationship with clients. I can tell you that from my freelancing experience, I actually noticed a really strange kind of trend, which is that for my 2 clients, I have 2 clients who paid me a lot more than every other client I had. And those two clients were by far the best to work with. They were the most understanding, the most reasonable, and just a real pleasure to work with. I felt like I was really contributing something, and the clients who were constantly trying to push the price down and had tiny budgets were often horrible to deal with.19:32: I don't think it's likely that some AI is going to start launching nukes or go terminate, or whatever. But I think it's more so in automating jobs that there's now suddenly a large portion of humans who cannot do anything better, more efficiently than a machine can. And at that point what do they do? I think there are a lot of big questions around that, but there aren't really good answers, and people aren't moving fast enough to find good answers there. 23:21 People think that when you start a business, you have a cool idea. You go out there and build the idea and put it out there, advertise to people, and they buy from you, essentially. But, really, what I found is that the best way to start a business or any kind of project is to identify your target audience and then sort of like understand what their problems are and then build a solution for a very big problem for a very specific group of people. That way, your chances of success and your chances of guessing the right idea are just so much higher. 25:59: That's why you start with finding a target audience that you want to help or kind of a certain, just broader, industry that you want to be involved in. But as for what your business very specifically does, I think it needs to be driven by what the audience wants. So, for example, I could say that I used to be a freelancer. I face all kinds of issues. I want to make the industry better for freelancers. I don't know. I want to build a platform that's going to help freelancers.Connect with Elzie LinkedInSupport the journeyJoin the Flame Starters Contact Karl Swanepoel
