Why do people hate lifestyle businesses? My first book (Big Ideas.. for Small Businesses) is 70,000 words long. Here are the 1,471 words that have had the biggest impact on readers over the past 8 years - in which I explain my ideal job description, why I refuse to take VC money, and why I'm banned from watching Dragons Den. (The full book is available on Audible, narrated by me).
VERSONO Medical Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been named Dragons' Den winner of the CX Innovation Prize at the international CX Symposium in London last week. The competition was between nine companies from the US, Germany, Israel, Singapore and Ireland, all of which have developed innovative technologies in the field of vascular and endovascular treatment. The US/Galway-based firm faced off in a Dragons' Den-style event in which VERSONO Medical CEO Finbar Dolan presented on the company's plans for its revolutionary FastWire Technology Platform, including its progress on enabling the endovascular treatment of chronic complex total occlusions (CTOs), and the latest developments in its FREEFLOW pivotal study. VERSONO was judged the winner by a panel of Dragons including Robert Mitchell, General Manager of global healthcare company Organon; Prof. Frans Moll, vascular surgeon; Prof. Tilo Kolbel, Director of the German Aortic Centre in Hamburg; Jeffrey B. Jump, founder of Casper-Medical; and Charles Taylor, CEO of Veryan Medical. The event was chaired by Baron Stephen Greenhalgh. FastWire is a truly disruptive technology designed to quickly access previously untreatable complex blockages in arteries, increasing success rates and reducing risk of amputations via endovascular techniques. It uses a novel proprietary ultrasonic technology developed and patented by the company to cross through severe, complex blockages in patient's arteries, above, and below, the knee with Critical Limb Threatening Ischemia (CLTI). The technology has huge potential application in endovascular procedures. VERSONO Medical is in the process of completing the FREEFLOW pivotal study for its FastWire System. Designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the FastWire device through the FDA-approved Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) study, FREEFLOW is being performed in three centres the Vascular Institute of the Midwest (VIM) in Davenport, Iowa; the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Houma, Louisiana; and the Vascular Institute of Chattanooga (VIC) in Tennessee. Subject to the successful completion of the study, the company will seek US market approval to launch FastWire. The Charing Cross (CX) Symposium took place from April 23-25th at the ExcCeL in London. The event brings together world-leading experts in the treatment of vascular and endovascular disease to discuss the challenges and emerging trends in the field. Hosted every three years, the CX Symposium is a prestige event which holds education, innovation and evidence as core values. VERSONO CEO Finbar Dolan says: "It's an honour to win the Dragons Den innovation prize at the CX Symposium in London. This is one of the prestige events in the field of vascular and endovascular treatment and we are thrilled to be selected as the standout candidates in a highly competitive group of companies developing innovative technologies." How To Master Youth Only Challenges In FM w/ Clayts On todays episode of The FM Show, Clayts joins us for the first time to discuss his current Youth Only save that he's been recording for YouTube. We talk about constructing narratives within the game, how we fall in love with certain players, and why oh why is there a ruggishly handsome Welsh newgen in Italy with what looks like a suntan mark where his swimming goggles have been? In addition to all this good stuff we patent and trademark our new feature 'Squad It' that may or may not be appearing on Dragons Den in the near future. We also speak about Clayts transition to full time content, at what some would argue, was the worst ever time... right before the cancellation of FM25! NightCap, as Shirah describes it, is a fun solution to a serious problem. She shares how having something slipped into your drink is a much more serious problem than many are aware of. This is often due to the fact that most incidents do not get reported. This happened to one of her friends when she was a teenager, and she was inspired to design a product that deters bad actors and also serves as a method of prevention for having your drink tampered with when you are out having fun. With the help of her family, she was able to turn this idea into a successful business. Most people don't succeed in their coaching ambitions, not because they're bad coaches but because they don't understand it's a business and didn't persevere for long enough. This was the very first podcast interview for Steven Bartlett. You'll know him as host of The Diary of a CEO podcast, as the youngest investor on BBC TV's Dragons Den 2024, and as a successful entrepreneur. It was also the very first interview I recorded as host of this podcast some seven years ago. You'll hear from a 23-year-old Steven who talks about starting his first business at 12 by selling cigarettes at school, not receiving Christmas or Birthday presents from his parents, and dropping out of University after just one lecture. He also offers his advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and tells us the number one skill all entrepreneurs need to master. We recorded our conversation via audio only back in 2017, so we have added video to this podcast and tried to enhance the audio - he's speaking to me on his phone! At the time Steven was CEO at Social Chain and had yet to start his podcast, yet to chat about 'my first million', but instead talks about his reading vlog and influencer marketing. The happy sexy millionaire Steven Bartlett's dragon's den journey had yet to begin. You can now of course hear him helping young entrepreneurs on a dragons den full episode. I hope you enjoy this episode as we celebrate seven years since I started Screw It Just DO It. If you've only just discovered my show on YouTube, there are 539 episodes over on Apple and Spotify (links below).
