Too Many Voices, Not Enough Truth: Why Many Christians Are Stuck, Confused, and Unstable Website: www.PastorTodd.org To Give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Too Many Voices, Not Enough Truth: Why Many Christians Are Stuck, Confused, and Unstable We live in a time where advice is everywhere. Social media, YouTube, podcasts, self-help books, and even well-meaning friends and mentors are constantly offering their opinions on life, faith, relationships, and purpose. As Christians, we're told to seek wise counsel—and that's a good thing. But what happens when we're listening to so many different voices that we lose sight of the only voice that truly matters? For many believers, this is exactly what has happened. They're bouncing from one spiritual leader to another, taking bits and pieces of advice from different sources, and as a result, they've become spiritually unstable, confused, and double-minded. Too Many Voices = Spiritual Confusion There's a reason James 1:8 says: “He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8 NKJV) Double-mindedness happens when we don't have a firm foundation. One day we're convinced God is calling us to something, and the next day, after hearing a different perspective, we start doubting everything. We shift from one teaching to another, from one prophetic word to the next, from one pastor's message to another YouTube preacher's opinion—all while neglecting the one place that should be anchoring us: God's Word and a strong, biblical community. When we're constantly looking for fresh revelation from multiple sources instead of being planted where God has called us, we end up more confused than we were before. The Danger of Unfiltered Influences Not every voice speaking into your life is from God. Some are mixed with personal opinions, cultural influence, or even deception. The Bible warns us: “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV) Yet many believers have invited confusion into their lives by exposing themselves to teachers, influencers, and “spiritual guides” who may sound good but are not actually speaking truth. Some Christians run from conference to conference, church to church, mentor to mentor, never truly rooting themselves in one place. They're spiritually spread thin, and it's keeping them from growing. Being Planted vs. Being Scattered The Bible makes it clear that stability comes from being planted. “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:13 NKJV) When you plant something, it stays in one place long enough to grow roots. It doesn't uproot itself every time the wind blows or a new gardener comes along with a different watering technique. But many believers today are spiritually uprooted—always looking for the next exciting revelation, the next big teacher, or the next prophetic word that will finally make everything clear. This constant uprooting leads to: ✅Spiritual instability – Never feeling settled, always questioning. ✅Confusion – Not knowing whose voice to trust. ✅Lack of direction – Feeling like you're in a cycle of waiting but never moving forward. ✅Discontentment – Feeling stuck and unsatisfied in your current season. What's the Solution? 1. Stop Chasing Every New Voice & Anchor Yourself in the Word • There's nothing wrong with listening to sermons and podcasts, but your main source should be the Bible. • If a teaching contradicts Scripture, it's not from God—period. • Be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11—test everything against God's Word. 2. Get Planted in a Biblically Sound Church or ministry. • If you're constantly hopping between churches and ministries, ask yourself: Why am I avoiding commitment? 3. Be Discerning About Who You Listen To • Just because someone has a platform doesn't mean they're speaking truth. • Ask: Does this teaching align with Scripture? Is this pointing me to Jesus or just exciting my emotions? 4. Pray for Clarity & Obedience • Sometimes confusion comes because we're hearing what we want to hear instead of what God is actually saying. • Pray for wisdom and the courage to obey what God has already spoken to you. Final Thought: It's Time to Get Rooted If you feel stuck, frustrated, or spiritually unstable, ask yourself: Am I listening to too many voices? Am I truly planted where God has called me, or am I constantly uprooting myself? God doesn't want His people confused or double-minded. He wants us rooted, growing, and bearing fruit. It's time to stop chasing every new word and start trusting the One who never changes. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV) It's time to get planted. It's time to stop running. It's time to trust Him.

Matthew 13:1-23 On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.” The disciples approached him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” He said to them in reply, “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand. Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: You shall indeed hear but not understand, you shall indeed look but never see. Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and be converted, and I heal them. “But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. “Hear then the parable of the sower. The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart. The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away. The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.” Understanding the Word There is a symmetry in today's Gospel around the seeds that bear fruit and those that do not. Jesus describes three conditions in which the seeds will not bear any fruit—along the path, in rocky places, and in thorny places. He also describes three levels of fruitfulness in the rich soil: “A hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.” The meaning of “along the path” may be obscured to us. Living in cities with modern roads, many men seldom see natural paths. As these natural paths are frequently traversed, they acquire a stone-like rigidity. When the seeds fall along the path, they fall onto packed dirt, and they cannot penetrate the earth. When the word of God reaches the soul of a man like this path, his heart has already been hardened—he is pre-resigned not to accept the word of God. Rather than experiencing joy, these souls will be eaten up by the birds. Those who do not allow the word of God to take root will be devoured. The seeds that fall on the rocky ground take root. The soul who hears the word of God is filled with unearthly joy. But when tribulations come, the initial joy the soul experienced quickly dies. The soul burns in the hot sun. The last condition of failure is the seeds that fall among thorns where “worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.” The soul in this condition is verdant and fertile. When the word of God comes to this soul, it takes root and springs forth. However, not only the word of God but also vices take root. Like weeds, these unholy anxieties and perversions choke the word of God, and it bears no fruit. These three fruitless souls well depict our understanding of hell. For their hard-heartedness, they are trampled and devoured. For their weak faith and failure to seek to understand God‘s word, they are burnt. For their vices, they are choked by a bed of thorns. St. John Chrysostom gives a comforting explanation of the rich soil. He says, “Take note that even the person yielding thirtyfold is saved. The Lord said that to make the way of salvation easy. What that means is this: Are you incapable of practicing virginity? Then live a chaste married life. Are you incapable of giving up all your goods? Then give some of what you own. Are you incapable of carrying that burden? Divide your possessions with Christ” (Matthew: Interpreted by Early Christian Commentators, 264). In your prayer this Sunday, reflect on Jesus' explanation of this parable. How will you respond to the word of God? Are you cultivating a life that leads you to understand his word? Ask the Lord to make your soul like the rich soil in the parable so that you can yield fruit a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.

My name is Norman and my goal is to help you Run Your Race Well, not just Surviving but Thriving as a Disciple of Jesus! There are a LOT of things you could do with your life, but I don't think anything compares with following Jesus and joining Him on His mission of bringing Hope to the nations. Thanks for including me in your journey! Have you ever reached a spot in your spiritual life where you felt you just couldn't manage to make a single step forward? I think it happens to many of us ore often that we would like to admit. In the past few shows we have been looking at the process of spiritual growth and you may feel like you just aren't making any progress. Today, I want to give you some thoughts about how to get past those roadblocks and get your spiritual life moving again. First, lets examine a few reasons people get bogged down. 1.Sin that hasn't been dealt with. This is a big one. Gotta deal with sin, ASAP. 2.Unhealthy relationships. The people you hand around with make it easy or hard to follow Jesus. 3.Lazy/ Busy – You know what to do but can't seem to get it done. This can often be a symptom of misplace priorities. 4.Doubt/ Discouragement – A little mistake or slip here and there can steal your confidence and make you consider your ability more than God's Grace. 5. Earthly Desires – We all easily get distracted by the things of this world. Promotion at work, the approval of others, new “things” are all competing for the place Jesus demands. Obviously not a complete list. You need to do the personal hard work of examining your own life to determine where you are aligned with God and where you are pursuing something else. Next, lets consider the obvious tools that we need to always be using to build a healthy spiritual life. Here is me, the broken record, telling you that God has given you three things specifically to help you grow. You have heard this hear before and will hear it again! 1. God's Word - There is no way to really grow without increased time with God which equates to time in His Word. Read the Bible. Meditate on it. Memorize it. Think about it. Talk about it to others. This is foundational to a healthy spiritual life. 2.Holy Spirit – God has given you the Holy Spirit to guide you, help you understand the Bible and to change you from the inside out. When you don't know what to pray, trust that the Holy Spirit does, and pray! 3. The Church – Hey that church takes lots of hard knocks. It is definitely not perfect, but then, how could it be, it is full of former enemies of God who are still learning what it means to be part of His family! As a resource for spiritual growth the church will include music that points you toward God, books, sermons, podcast and videos that teach, encourage and motivate you to keep on keeping on. Now, lets look at a few tools you should have in your spiritual toolbox to pull out when you need them. Spiritual Disciplines - 1. Disciplines of Abstinence: Solitude: Time away from people, leaving more space for God. Silence: Not speaking and going to a quiet place to clear a space for God to reach us. Fasting: Going without food (or something else like media) for a time. Replacing the food or media with more of God's Word and Prayer. Sabbath: Intentional rest in God's person and provision. 2. Disciplines of Engagement: Bible Reading: might include Bible study, Scripture meditation, and praying God's Word. Worship: Praising God in words, music, or silence. (privately or in community.) Prayer: Talking with God about what we're experiencing and doing together. Fellowship: Intentionally seeking out believers to encourage and speak with about spiritual things. Service: Humbly serving God by overflowing with his love and compassion to others, especially those in need. (Also tithing and giving.) A great way to “get out of your head”. Finally, lets consider how to make a plan that will give us structure and intentionality as we face our spiritual battles. If possible, identify the main area you are struggling with right now. Are there any obvious reasons or ways to address it? Ask a good Christian friend to help you evaluate your life and current lifestyle. Talking through your choices with a friend who want to see you grow may be the best way to see your own life more clearly. Make sure you have a consistent plan to include the basic activities of the spiritual life in your week, every week. Have a bible reading plan, journal what you are learning, share it with a friend. Pray throughout the day every day and invite God into every activity. Put the church on your calendar, not just the service times but plan to reach out to others throughout the week. Ask your church family to pray for you. Consider the spiritual disciplines and make a space in your life for those you believe would help you given where you are right now. Don't be afraid to try something you haven't done before! KEY POINT: Invite a friend to go through this time with you and pray for you as you apply these tools to your life. You are not meant to walk the Christian life alone! That is a recipe for stagnation and a nasty spiritual fall. Most of all, keep it up. Persevere. The reward is worth the struggle. Remember that God promises to be with you in the middle of every trial and He is working in you to complete the work HE started! OUTRO Thanks for joining me today! Today's Word: There will be no more delays between punishment for sin and blessings for obedience, faith and righteousness. "In your day I will lay to rest your obsession with sin and with defending the wickedness among you. I will root out the tares from among you and burn them in the fire, but the wheat I will gather into my barn." The Church is guilty of LOVING SINNERS AND THEIR SIN, of covering for the lawless ones in our midst. Repent if you have done this, asking one more chance for unrepentant people while crucifying victims a second time by accusing them of being liars or not believing them. God is settling accounts, He will NOT overlook anyone who is guilty of doing this [Romans 1:32]. A Word On the WORD There was a Psalm last week that I mentioned to you was the Mount Sinai of Charles Spurgeon, it was the Psalm to which he feared greatly to enter upon knowing that any effort he made with respect to its commentary would be woefully insufficient even to disrespect to it; It is a bush burning with fire, yet not consumed, he said. And with that psalm he felt a voice that seemed to cry to him The post A Word On The WORD appeared first on Hope Baptist Church.
One of the more frequent questions that we receive has to do with time management. How can a preacher or Bible teacher manage his or her time in order to maximize their effectiveness as they deliver God’s Word? There are only 168 hours per week and 24 hours per day; and many important commitments already claim many of those hours. How can a busy Christian carve out time to study in the midst of an already busy week? This question and more are answered in today’s episode, a live Q+A panel recorded in San Diego featuring Pastor Rob Salvato, Miles Debenedictus, Shawn Stone, Nick Cady, Riley Taylor, Rob Salvato and Pete Nelson. The Expositors Collective is a growing network of pastors, leaders, and laypeople which exists to equip, encourage, and mentor the next generation of Christ-centered preachers. Route 119: A Roadmap for Life’s Journey Living Up to Snuff Sadly, over the years, Christians have come up with their own standards for godliness. Topics We Cover On This Episode [1:23] All of the exciting things happening at 40 Days for Life [6:20] Socialists, Anarchists, and Satanists in Madison, Wisconsin [10:05] How the arguments against life have changed [14:48] Irony will destroy the abortion industry [17:43] What happened when common sense ceased in New York [20:21] This is what evil looks like [25:52] Why persecution is the best soil to grow fruit [30:40] The one image that will be the end of abortion The topic of spiritual warfare seems to be a hit or miss subject in Christian culture. While some give the Devil too much power others are content with ignoring the existence of the enemy altogether. The truth is that there is a very real spiritual battle going on. This was never more evident than during the recently concluded Fall 40 Days for Life campaign. From socialist protesters banging pots and pans to in-your-face abortion advocates dressed up as Catholic priests, this campaign had it all. Hear Shawn, Steve, and Matt break down the realities of spiritual warfare on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. In just a few short years the arguments for abortion have drastically changed Not long ago the argument for abortion was based on a “scientific” approach. It centered around the dehumanization of the unborn and a convenience based definition of life itself. Due to the crumbling foundation of these positions, a new approach seems to have risen from the rubble. Fueled by an unprecedented level of hate, current abortion advocates are now arguing that Pro-Life views are somehow a direct attack on their identity and that they seek to deny women basic healthcare rights. How does this affect the fight for life? Find out on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Irony is killing the credibility of the abortion industry One of the loudest cries heard from those protesting the most recent 40 Days for Life campaign was the accusation of bigotry. That somehow wanting to protect the lives of the unborn was an overtly intolerant act. Ironically, while 40 Days for Life volunteers were peacefully expressing their views the ones calling them “bigots” were seeking to silence the Pro-Life message by any means they deemed necessary. These “tolerance warriors” acted with such hate and aggression that even Planned Parenthood asked them to leave because they were creating physical and emotional barriers that prevented women who were seeking abortions from getting inside. Learn how these poignant examples of spiritual warfare are killing the abortion industry on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Recent actions of protesters reveal the evil nature of abortion All throughout Scripture we see the Devil’s plot to end the lives of innocent children from the attempts of kings to kill the firstborn to the prophets of Baal sacrificing babies as an act of worship. Today the blood lust of ancient history masquerades itself as abortion. Typically you see this procedure supported by well-dressed politicians and scientists doing their best impression of someone who cares about women’s health. However, Pro-Abortion protesters have been letting the mask slip to reveal the truly evil nature of abortion. At numerous vigil sites they dressed up as Satan and intentionally engaged in behavior that mocks God and those who believe in Him. Discover how far some protesters will go to deter those who stand for life on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Pro-Life legacies will be the end of abortion Amidst a vast backdrop of spiritual warfare during the most recent 40 Days for Life campaign, one image stands out. Mother after mother returning to the place where they decided to choose life to tell volunteers about the difference they made. Not only that, but these mothers came back to show volunteers this difference by bringing or showing pictures of the children who wouldn’t be alive without their efforts. It provides an incredibly important reminder of the legacies being created by those who are willing to persevere against persecution for the sake of the unborn. These children will grow up to stand where their parents stood and be a voice for life for generations to come. Just a Word There is nothing wrong realigning your house! If you can Identify some areas where you have begin to compromise or that have gotten out of control, it's never too late to stop and get it in order. Allowing satan to jump around in any area of your life can cause irreparable damage. When your spirit man is picking up that uneasiness that you may have taken a turn that is not of God. You have to be mature enough and value your salvation enough to fast and pray seek God on what it maybe. Remember the devil is slick and cunning. Eve was deceived through a suggestion that maybe what God said meant something else. The enemy is doing this very thing today...BLURRED LINES... But God wants us to be sure, stable minded. I just want to encourage you to lean not to your own understanding. But in all your way acknowledge him and he will direct your path! PastorJennice Cook Jackson

Wisdom is the plans and purposes of God. To know means to be familiar and be intimate with whatever it is you are doing. Have an open heart and a teachable spirit. We have the mind of Chirst. Are we having a relationship with the Word or just reading the Word? There are no excuses why we cannot have a relationship with the Word. Natural understanding always limits God. Lean not to your own understanding!
