Hosts: Leah Murray and Marty Carpenter For a state as Western and as rural as Utah, you may have already thought this was a thing: excusing school absences for students who participate in rodeos. So, you might be surprised to learn that that's not actually a thing. State Senator Mike McKell thinks it should be; he joins us today to explain why and how his bill would make it work.
Hosts: Leah Murray and Marty Carpenter Fiery meeting between Pres. Trump and Ukrainian Pres. Zelenskyy An explosive argument in the Oval Office today between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance -- and it was all captured on camera. Presidents Trump and Zelenskyy met this morning to discuss a deal between the two countries over minerals. As far as we can tell, that agreement was never actually signed. Instead, a joint appearance following private talks spiraled out of control. Inside Sources begins with analysis and discussion on the future of Ukraine-U.S. relations... and the potential for more conflicts between Russia and Europe. On the Hill 2025: Excused absences for students who compete in rodeos For a state as Western and as rural as Utah, you may have already thought this was a thing: excusing school absences for students who participate in rodeos. So, you might be surprised to learn that that's not actually a thing. State Senator Mike McKell thinks it should be; he joins us today to explain why and how his bill would make it work. On the Hill 2025: Changes to who picks the Chief Justice on the Utah Supreme Court Currently, the Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court is elected to the position by the other justices on the bench. A proposal on Utah's Capitol Hill would change this, making the position a Governor-appointed one. State Senator Chris Wilson joins us to talk more about SB296: Judicial Amendments. He and the Inside Sources hosts discuss why this may or may not be a good idea. On the Hill 2025: Giving educators pay raises and more financial support State leaders have announced another investment into Utah’s education system. Today, they spoke about pay raises, bonuses, and more financial support for people working with students – teachers and support staff. The Inside Sources hosts analyze the salary increase and one-time bonus... and whether or not it will help with teacher recruitment and retention. The status of federal budget discussions The U.S. House of Representatives has been working on a budget resolution, and it's taken a pretty windy path to get there. Ahead of a government shutdown deadline in two weeks, Republican leaders in Congress are working to figure out the budget. Utah Congresswoman Celeste Maloy (UT-2) joins Inside Sources to talk about the budget and where things stand right now. Pres. Trump wants to make English our official language In the nearly 250 years of the republic, the United States has never had an official language. Sure, most of what we do is in English. But there's never been a legitimate law or order solidifying English as the official language of the United States. Now, President Trump says he's going to change that with the stroke of his pen. Does he have authority to do this? Hosts Leah Murray and Marty Carpenter share their thoughts.

(00:00) Zolak and Bertrand kickoff the show by sharing their thoughts about ESPN’s Adam Schefter calling Mike Vrabel “the man” for personnel decisions. (13:05) We question what the Patriots’ power structure is in their front office, pondering if it is a good idea for Vrabel to have final say over the roster. (22:34) We touch on Drake Maye’s vacation and his absence for Vrabel’s introductory press conference. This episode of the "Coping" podcast covers a discussion on the importance of soul care and the common excuses people make for not prioritizing it. Hosts Kathy and Kevin acknowledge that while the excuses like lack of time, discomfort with being alone, fear of silence, and inability to stop are valid, they provide practical tips and assignments to overcome these barriers. The key takeaway is that even small pockets of intentional time for soul-nourishing activities can have significant benefits for overall well-being. Highlights Introduction and Excuses for Lack of Soul Care The video introduces the topic of soul care and acknowledges the valid reasons or 'excused absences' that prevent people from practicing it, such as lack of time, discomfort with being alone, fear of silence, and inability to stop or disconnect from devices and constant busyness. Excuse 1: Lack of Time The speakers discuss the common excuse of not having enough time for soul care due to work and other responsibilities. They suggest that even small pockets of 10 minutes can be carved out for soul-nourishing activities, such as during school pickups or commutes. Excuse 2: Discomfort with Being Alone The speakers address the excuse of not liking to be alone, which is often confused with loneliness. They encourage scheduling a 'soul date' with oneself to engage in enjoyable activities alone, as this can lead to feeling more refreshed and present. Excuse 3: Fear of Silence The speakers discuss the fear of silence as an excuse for avoiding soul care. They suggest taking a walk or drive without any noise or distractions, focusing only on natural sounds, as a way to practice entering silence and improve listening skills. Excuse 4: Inability to Stop The final excuse addressed is the difficulty in stopping and disconnecting from constant busyness and technology. The speakers recommend a 'phone fast' for one hour a day, handing the phone to a loved one, to create space for being present and engaged in soul-nourishing activities. Closing Thoughts and Meditation The video concludes by emphasizing the importance of making time for soul care, even if it's just small pockets of time, and the benefits it can bring to overall well-being. A meditation from Jan Richardson is shared, encouraging listeners to find stillness and peace amidst the chaos.
Baldwin manslaughter trial excused.
In this episode, Michael looks at the COVID aftermath and how the wheels are coming off the Great Reset. With influential cultural figures such as future hall-of-fame quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, speaking out against the global surveillance state, it becomes easy to see that “we're not in Kansas anymore,” where “conspiracy theories” are concerned. The Wizard is fake news, and everyone knows it! Speaking of Kansas, Bishop James Johnston of Kansas City has joined Bishop Thomas Paprocki in enthusiastically supporting Harrison Butker's clarion call for bishops to “man up” and start behaving like Catholic bishops again. Butker blasted the bishops for closing the churches during Covid and, what do you know, several bishops just seconded the motion. Go figure! So, with the EU elections scoring big wins for Europe's populist/nationalist parties – a stinging indictment of Pope Francis the Globalist – is this Reign of Terror finally running out of steam? Francis seems desperate. A case in point: With the world teetering on the edge of war, Pope Francis is putting his paranoia on full display by ordering Archbishop Vigano to come to Rome to face charges of schism. Yes, you read that right! He's not trying to excommunicate Mr. Ted McCarrick – one of the worst sexual predators in Church history. Nope! Francis is going after the whistle blower. You just can't make this stuff up! And, finally, with nothing better to do, the obsessed (with traditional Catholics) pontiff finds himself at the center of swirling rumors that claim Team Francis is about to launch a “Final Solution” to permanently ban the Latin Mass. Is there anything to the rumors, and what's really behind this Vatican witch hunt?
