The episode was recorded on 20 October 2023 in cooperation with Ponto. The state-sanctioned falsification of the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus triggered mass protests across the country, resulting in an unprecedented crackdown by the police and the security apparatus on members of the opposition, protestors, civil society, and independent media. Since then, Belarus has remained largely isolated from the outside world, which was further exacerbated by the current regime's support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In this episode, we discuss the nature of authoritarianism – or indeed, totalitarianism – in Belarus, the fate of Belarusians who joined the protests in 2020 and faced state repression as a result, and the role of media (both state-run and independent) in daily life in Belarus. We also speak about what an end to the Ukraine war would mean for Belarus and how Belarusian identity can be preserved despite the ongoing cultural assimilation efforts directed by Russia. Guests: Aliaksei Kazharski is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University (Czech Republic). He received his Ph.D. from Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia) in 2015. Kazharski's research interests have included Central and Eastern Europe, regionalism, identity in international relations, critical approaches to security and terrorism studies. He is the author of two monographs: Eurasian Integration and the Russian World. Regionalism as an Identitary Enterprise (2019) and Central Europe Thirty Years after the Fall of Communism. The son of a prominent Russian poet, Tarkovsky studied filmmaking at the All-Union State Cinematography Institute and graduated in 1960. His diploma work, Katok i skripka (1960; The Steamroller and the Violin), won a prize at the New York Film Festival, and his first full-length feature film, Ivanovo detstvo (1962; Ivan's Childhood), about the experiences of an orphaned boy on the Russian front during World War II, established his international reputation. His next film, Andrey Rublyov (1965), the story of a medieval Russian icon painter, was acclaimed as a masterpiece for its vivid evocation of the Middle Ages. His subsequent films included Solyaris (1971; Solaris), Zerkalo(1975; A Mirror), and Stalker (1979).Tarkovsky's films were notable for their striking visual images, their symbolic, visionary tone, and their paucity of conventional plot and dramatic structure. Several of his films were barred from domestic distribution by the Soviet authorities, and in 1984 Tarkovsky decided to remain in the West after having filmed Nostalghia (1983; Nostalgia) in Italy. On August 5, CNN released a report on a "possible prison camp for political dissidents" located outside of Minsk. The Belarusian government didn't respond to requests for comment prior to publication, CNN said. But on August 6, both Belarusian state television and the Defense Ministry denounced the article as "fake news." Defense officials maintained that the site is the location of an arms depot for the Belarusian air defense forces, which was built in the 1950s. The independent news outlet Zerkalo.io also reported that CNN's article got "everything" wrong. That said, opposition activists in Belarus have previously warned that the Lukashenko regime may try to construct prison camps. In the face of pressure from the authorities, the most prominent independent media outlet in Belarus, Tut.by, ceased operating in mid-May. On top of blocking Tut.by's website and freezing its company bank account, the Belarusian authorities detained a number of its staff and initiated a felony tax evasion case against the publication's leadership. Despite the persecution, some of Tut.by's journalists and managers were able to flee Belarus. Now they're spread out around the world, living in countries from Ukraine to the United States. On July 8, the Tut.by team launched a new media outlet - Zerkalo.io - to hold their publication's place until it can resume working in Belarus. To find out more about this new venture, Meduza spoke to Zerkalo.io's acting editor-in-chief, Anna Kaltygina, and manager Sasha Pushkina. All of the outlet's other employees preferred not to reveal their identities for security reasons.

Chapter 2: Cthugrosh Laughs Last, we follow the Journey of our heroes Incinerus, Defender X, Nova ESR and Sky Sentinel as they come to terms with the consequences of Incinerus overzealous actions to Rush a Zerkalo base. In Episode 2 we find out why Incinerus was so concerned with retrieving the Cthul book from the Zerkalo Bloc. Komkor 001 on release was rightfully dubbed and “Apartment Building with Legs”. This Monster falls well short of what you want to see in a competitive environment. I really like the look of Zerkalo Bloc models so I wanted to challenge myself to see if I can build a list for Komkor 001 I’m happy with. Zerkalo fans shouldn’t worry too much either way since Zavod 075 and Voyaka 099 are both really strong choices!

Без всяких сомнений, можно сказать, что Роберт Рич один из тех, кто довольно серьезно повлиял на сегодняшний эмбиент, нью-эйдж и экспериментальную музыку в целом. Вот уже на протяжении трех десятилетий и более чем 30-ти альбомов Роберт Рич задает тон в данных жанрах музыки эмбиент (ambient) и дарк эмбиент (dark ambient), при этом его собственный стиль довольно трудно четко классифицировать. Уникальное звучание музыки Роберта Рича складывается из звучания электронных и акустических (флейты, гитары) инструментов, микротональных гармоний, процессинга сигнала с использованием компьютерных технологий, хаотических систем и сетей обратных связей. Роберт начал создавать свои аналоговые синтезаторы в ещё 1976 году, когда ему было всего 13 лет, затем он учился в Стэнфордском Центре компьютерных исследований музыки и акустики (CCRMA). Среди музыкальных влияний на творчество Роберта Рича - работы композиторов-минималистов Терри Райли, Джона Кейджа, а также немецких музыкантов, работающих в сфере электронной музыки - Клауса Шульце и группы Cluster.
