    Ivy Insights

The Austin Enneagram podcast is a breath of fresh air in the saturated world of enneagram podcasts. In a sea of well-intentioned hosts who only scratch the surface of their knowledge, Elizabeth and Leigh stand out as experts who truly understand the enneagram. Their expertise shines through as they cut through the noise and frivolity that is common in this current moment. They strike the perfect balance between depth and approachability, making it an excellent resource for both beginners and those well-versed in the enneagram.

One of the best aspects of The Austin Enneagram podcast is Elizabeth and Leigh's ability to provide context and real-life examples of each enneagram type. Through relatable stories, they bring the types to life and help listeners understand how each type manifests in everyday situations. This makes it easier for listeners to identify their own type and relate it back to their own lives. Additionally, their insights into wings, lines, and other aspects of the enneagram add even more depth to their discussions.

While there are many positives about The Austin Enneagram podcast, there are a few areas that could be improved upon. Firstly, although their discussions are relatable and easy to understand for beginners, some episodes may feel repetitive or too basic for those with a deeper understanding of the enneagram. It would be beneficial if they could find ways to cater to both audiences without sacrificing clarity or complexity.

In conclusion, The Austin Enneagram podcast is an excellent resource for anyone interested in delving deeper into the world of enneagram. Elizabeth and Leigh's expertise and ability to convey complex information in an accessible way make it enjoyable for both beginners exploring their type and seasoned enthusiasts looking for further insight. Their no-nonsense approach cuts through the diluted information often found in popular culture, providing accurate and concise explanations that are relatable to all listeners. With each new episode, I am eagerly anticipating what they will uncover next about the enneagram.

Susan Piver, meditation teacher and writer of the nuanced book The Buddhist Enneagram, merges concepts of Buddhism and Enneagram, emphasizing how the Enneagram is a spiritual tool and not a self-help program, personality typer, or life hack. She talks of our 3 centers of intelligence (mental/head triad-delusion, heart/emotional triad-grasping, and body/instinct triad-aggression) as the 3 poisons. And arrows of integration and disintegration as peaceful and wrathful deities. We just grazed the early chapters of her very helpful book, with my dog Wendell repeatedly groaning in her lap. There is much more to dig into. Also, when I talk about “centering” myself in this podcast, I am talking about the compulsion to see myself as the center of my experience. I am not talking about centering prayer or grounding oneself. I am literally talking about overfocusing on self and individual identity.End music is by artists Adam Hilton and Henna Chou created in collaboration with my exhibition Treespell (3:35pm, clearing not far from camp on the album Forest Meditation)
