How Astrology Can Be Used For Self-Care October 9th, 2022 In this episode, I talk about how we can use astrology as a form of self-care. Self-care is not just about bubble baths and $17 smoothies, but about aligning with your cosmic blueprint and moving to the next level in your life. Astrology and self-care have more in common than some people think, it can provide insights into our individual needs and how we can best take care of them. For example, understanding our birth chart can help us understand our natural strengths and weaknesses, and how we can use this knowledge to take care of ourselves in a way that is tailored just for us. Astrology gives us a cosmic roadmap of our energetic blueprint, that helps us proactively and intentionally take steps toward the kind of self-care that helps us discover more about ourselves and continue our personal evolution. I also remind you that you are so unique that the planets won't be in the exact same place in the sky a they are in your chart for 25,000 years! time stamps00:00:00 Solo Episode: An Introduction to Astrology as Self-Care 00:02:39 What Is Self-Care? 00:05:29 The Relationship Between Astrology and Self Care 00:07:19 Astrology and Self-Care: Discovery 00:08:17 The Power of Astrology in Understanding Yourself and Others 00:10:17 How Astrology Can Help Us Understand Ourselves and Care For Our Shadow 00:12:49 Astrology and Self-Care: Validation 00:16:37 If It's In Your Heart, It's In Your Chart 00:18:32 Contemplation Prompts 00:22:49 Places In Your Chart Where You Shine 00:23:47 You Are Perfect where to find lynnettehttps://cosmicmoves.com/ (cosmicmoves.com) https://view.flodesk.com/pages/602db78354e757011a4f4178 (weekly newsletter) https://www.instagram.com/cosmic.moves/ (Instagram) people and resources mentionedhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs (Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs) https://anneortelee.com/ (Anne Ortelee) The transcript of this episode can be found https://www.dropbox.com/s/t7f2esr6edr2r1a/Ep%2010%20-%20Solo%20-%20An%20introduction%20to%20astrology%20as%20self-care.docx?dl=0 (here). Welcome to “The Emergent Human where we explore Optimizing Health, Embodied Spirituality and Post Conventional Living. I am Michael Ostrolenk, a therapist, coach and educator and I am your host. Today's show is brought to you by Somatic Psychotherapy Today. https://somaticpsychotherapytoday.com/ A shout out to my colleague Abby Hand, an epigenetics coach, who does Preconception health coaching which focuses on optimizing the health of both parents, before becoming pregnant. This may involve improving sleep, correcting nutrient deficiencies, balancing body systems, managing stress, increasing fitness level, reducing inflammation, and even removing exposure to chemicals, medications, and other substances that may impede health and fertility. Ostrolenk speaks with Steven Kessler, a psychotherapist who has studied many different healing modalities and maps of personality, including the Enneagram (with Helen Palmer), NLP, energy work, Thought Field Therapy, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques or tapping). For 20 years he has been a student of Lynda Caesara, studying Character Structure, the direct perception of energy, and shamanism in the lineage of Grandfather Two Bears and the Southern Seers tradition. He is the bestselling author of The 5 Personality Patterns: Your Guide to Understanding Yourself and Others and Developing Emotional Maturity. During the interview, Steven takes us through the developmental tasks a person needs to master, both in utero and during childhood, and the consequences of failing to master each of those tasks. He outlines the safety strategies we adopt to try to feel safer during that time and how each safety strategy develops into a pattern that becomes part of our personality. He then discusses how our personality patterns shape our interactions with others and the value of getting out of our personality patterns and returning to simply being present in the moment. We will close out today's show with one of my favorite singer/songwriters Stuart Davis and his song “Nothing in Between”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdRqCc3LfDI
Understanding YOURSELF and the other human beings around you is one of the trickiest and most complex aspects of life and relationships — Your personality begins to form from conception, in the womb, and as you grow as a child. You don't start to become aware of this until much later in life (and some people never gain awareness of who they are and what makes them do the things they do.) For a long time, Greg and I were not fans of personality tests — until Jordan Peterson's Big 5 Personality Test. They felt too confining and victimizing, labeling you as a certain color or number. They weren't holistic. Human beings are more complex than that. This personality test is different and has been peer-reviewed and works across cultures. Greg and I analyze our personal levels of Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience. There's a lot of laughing at ourselves through this process. :D In this episode, we walk through (and psychoanalyze) our personal results on the Big 5 Personality test — in order to help you understand how these play out in yourself, your relationship, and in your parenting. We also give a quick answer to a question we received regarding sex and conversation — the cycle of intimacy — after this spouse listened to Episode #174 Marriage Q&A. We address falling in and out of love, major reasons for divorce, and deepening the intimacy in your relationship by making deposits instead of just withdrawals. We also cover why your wife cries and wants to talk while you just listen because she needs a mental and emotional outlet. A woman wants her man to be someone who will listen to her. Without this emotional vulnerability, she will never be able to open up sexually. Stick by the woman when she ugly cries and she will love you even more. :D This is a very insightful and informational episode that will give you the vocabulary and words you need to articulate what is happening in your marriage and life. This episode is sponsored by our Best Self Bundle. This bundle of courses gives you all the tools, resources, and strategies that you need to reach upward and become your best self — to develop your personality into what you would like it to be instead of accepting what you currently have even if you don't like it. All the theory around our human needs has been amazing to share. The truth is, if we stay on that level of theory, then it won't be of much use to you.I dedicate this whole episode to you. To help you find which needs are important to you. To find the needs that light you up. The ones that make you come alive. And also the ones that make you feel "dead" inside. Personality quizzes. Love ‘em or not? Well, we've got a secret for you… we don't know our Myers-Briggs types, our Enneagrams, or any other personality types out there. The truth is that we don't love them. So we sat down to discuss the great and maybe not so great sides of personality quizzes. Everything from the (often lack of) research and whether they can help us understand ourselves better or to getting different results on different days, we covered it!Even if you love a good quiz (let's be honest, who doesn't?) and you're all over your Enneagram and Myers-Briggs types, this is still one you're going to want to listen to!Support the show (https://buymeacoffee.com/empathup)

UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF: Jesus said, All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). What do you believe? Do you believe the divine blood has all power? Why Understand Yourself Better? We are caught in a cycle. The result of filling our desire for God—apart from Him—is a complicated mix of pride, insecurity, shame, fear, unwanted behaviors, damaging reactions, and deeply painful memories of being hurt by earthly disappointments. The better we understand ourselves and our need for God, the more effectively we can deal with the obstacles that keep us from Him. It is time to break out of the cycle! It is time to turn and feast on God!"Understanding Yourself" is practical evidence why you should believe God will draw near to you intensely enough that earthly sources are no longer nearly as much of a distraction. The problems in the paragraph above don't have to be issues because you can taste heaven now!

Written in Greek by the only Roman emperor who was also a philosopher, without any intention of publication, the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius offer a remarkable series of challenging spiritual reflections and exercises developed as the emperor struggled to understand himself and make sense of the universe. While the Meditations were composed to provide personal consolation and encouragement, Marcus Aurelius also created one of the greatest of all works of philosophy: a timeless collection that has been consulted and admired by statesmen, thinkers and readers throughout the centuries.

I remember when I first started learning about my intuition… or even that I had one! I was a teenager and I loved the idea of something smarter than me guiding me. But I had no idea how to even reach for it. I was completely disconnected and it felt like someone handing me a book written in Spanish and saying now read this and understand it. I don't know Spanish and even though I might hold that book and look at the words with true desire in my heart to understand, there is no way I could. Tapping into intuition, honestly felt like that back then. In the beginning I was trying to jump straight to full understanding, loud and clear... But, if I want to read that Spanish book, first I will need to go elsewhere to learn and practice before being able to understand the Spanish text. It's the same with your intuition. First you need to learn and practice and then over time you will get better and your intuition will become clearer to you.So if you are brand new on this journey and have the desire to be more intuitive, but no idea how to move forward, just know that you CAN move forward and today, we are talking about HOW you can do that. www.michellemarsh.com.au/aromanosis-practice@happymemichelleSupport the show (https://michellemarsh.com.au/aromanosis-practice)

Welcome back to The Round 12 MOTIVATIONAL MASTERY Podcast Show! Episode #59 "UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF! ... And the Power That Comes With It" MUCH OF THE REASON WE FAIL TO UNDERSTAND OTHERS, IS BECAUSE WE RARELY TAKE THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND OURSELVES. Listen in to this weeks episode to refresh your understanding, focus and tools... And maybe even get a renewed perspective. “A man only begins to be a man when he ceases to whine and revile, and commences to search for the hidden justice which regulates his life. And he adapts his mind to that regulating factor, he ceases to accuse others as the cause of his condition, and builds himself up in strong and noble thoughts; ceases to kick against circumstances, but begins to use them as aids to his more rapid progress, and as a means of the hidden powers and possibilities within himself.” ― James Allen, As a Man Thinketh Intro & Outro Music Provided by... Just as we watch a bird fly across the sky, we can observe our thoughts and feelings simply and clearly. How can we live in relationships without conflict? Do we feel unsettled and long for peace within? How can we find love in our lives, and be happy? Is it possible not to be emotionally hurt? The answers to these and other questions can be found through a deeper understanding of how our minds work, by observing our thoughts and feelings as they arise in us, and then exploring what lies behind them. In this episode Jon interviews Manoj where they discuss this deeper understanding of our thoughts and feelings.

After attending a rally for women of color, I met some heart-led entrepreneurs who invited me to participate in a campaign to raise awareness about bullying. 6 months after a photoshoot that terrified me to let my guard down and publish it, I caught up with the founders to learn about how their movement is growing with more people choosing to own their story and let go of the labels that have been prescribed to them. Do have someone in your life that intimidates you at every turn? How about those who interrogate every move you make? There are many ways to deal with these people, however, many of those options serve only to boost the behavior and little to defuse it. Pam Thomas joins the conversation to chat about how to honor and empower yourself while effectively dealing with the difficult people in your life. We all have those difficult people in our lives. Some folks intimidate us, others interrogate us. Usually, we fight back or let them step all over us. Either way, our energy is zapped and we are left with a feeling of lack and a devalued belief in self. Pam Thomas joins the chat to talk about how we can honor ourselves through the process of dealing with difficult people in a productive and empowering way.
In this episode I have a very special guest. My wife Sherry and I introduce you to the four temperaments. Sherry and I also co-host the Home School Support Network (HSSN) podcast and blog. We have produced a HSSN episode on temperaments as well. Why temperaments? Our understanding of temperaments has been most helpful in understanding what makes our family members tick. This is helpful in a marriage relationship, with understanding why grandma and grandpa do things a certain way, and most importantly what makes our children “tick”... so to speak. We have taught parents on the subject of temperaments for over five years. We have learned over the years from books, observations of parents we have mentored, and from various speakers throughout the country. Your temperament is God given and does not change. Each temperament has strengths, weaknesses, and one specific area of weakness that is more dominant than other weaknesses. There are four types with many “blends”- most people have a primary and secondary and keep in mind you may have the strengths of one and the weakness of another. What are the four temperaments we will cover in this podcast episode? Choleric (lion): task oriented-extrovert Sanguine (otter): people oriented-extrovert Melancholy (beaver): task oriented-introvert Phlegmatic (golden retriever): people oriented- introvert Resources mentioned in this episode: Spirit-Controlled Temperament by Tim LaHaye Personality Plus: How to Understand Others by Understanding Yourself by Florence Littauer The Treasure Tree: Helping Kids Understand Their Personality by Dr. John Trent and Gary Smalley Wired That Way: An Easy-to-Use Questionnaire for Helping People Discover Their God-Given Personality Type Leave feedback in the comments below or contact us via: Daddy Life on Twitter Voice Mail: (864) 372-9833 Subscribe to this podcast via iTunes or RSS:

You've heard me use the following phrase on my show a few times: 'life gets in the way'. When big things happen to us that threaten our journey (whether is be loss of a loved one, ending of a relationship, loss of home, job, pet, etc) one might find themselves immediately putting their spiritual gifts and spiritual journey on the backburner -- missing out on valuable learning and growth that's needed for your spiritual abilities and life mission. This is also a time when we tend to forget about ourselves altogether, and we forget to care for ourselves and give ourselves the love and appreciation that we need as spiritual beings of light to help guide our path onward. Listen as I share some messages that my Guides have given me over the years on ways of dealing with life when 'life gets in the way', and how to acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses, love yourself for who you are without any judgement and how you can appreciate yourself by just being yourself!
