Episode SummaryDr. Ali Novitsky, MD—physician, obesity medicine specialist, and strength-focused coach—dives into six dominant stress types and how spotting yours helps you regulate at the source. Drawing on years of coaching high-achieving women (especially physicians), Ali explains why addressing root stress beats symptom management, how to get “out of your head and into your body,” and what practical resets look like in real life. Expect clear examples, quick-start tools, and a compassionate, muscle-first approach to sustainable health. The Six Ditress Types (Quick Guide)Impulsivity — Acts fast to end discomfort; struggles to pause, risking burnout. *Try:* micro-pauses, urge surfing, 60–90s delay before action.Validation — Seeks external approval; second-guesses self. *Try:* self-validation scripts, “good-enough” reps, boundary micro-steps.Catastrophizing — Jumps to worst-case; superb risk-spotter but anxious. *Try:* evidence checks, bounded “worry windows,” solution sprints.Isolation — Pulls inward to avoid vulnerability; reliable yet guarded. *Try:* one safe share/day, grounding in the body, scheduled reconnects.Control — Tightens rules and plans; rigid when life shifts. *Try:* 90% plan experiments, two-option flexibility drills.Assertive — “Fix it now” mode; can read as aggressive. *Try:* wait–observe–act protocols, clarifying questions first. Why This Matters* Early regulation > downstream damage. Catch your pattern before it drives overeating, overworking, people-pleasing, or doom planning.* Not your personality. A stress type is a *trainable* response, not your identity.* Better teams & relationships. Shared language around stress patterns creates harmony and effectiveness.Ali's Approach* Root-first: regulate stress before chasing outcomes.* Muscle-first: prioritize strength for longevity, energy, and metabolic health (especially 35+).* Personalized: plans that honor genetics, life stage, and mindset—sometimes the work is muscle-building, sometimes body acceptance, sometimes gentle resets.Key Takeaways* Name your dominant type and two “early tells.”* Pair each tell with a tiny, body-based reset.* Progress is seasonal: adapt goals without judgment.* Community and safe coaching make change stick.Timestamps00:00 - What “stress types” are and why start here00:00:49 - Targeting root stress vs. symptom management00:01:20 - Regulate upfront to prevent reactive habits00:01:52 - Stress Type Quiz00:02:14 - Chronic stress and behavior/health00:02:35 - Regulated vs. chronic stress00:02:45 -How these six types emerged from real-world coaching00:03:39 - The TRANSFORM concept: body-first regulation00:04:21 - Patterns among high-achieving women00:06:10 -Catastrophizing vs. Numbness00:06:42 - Dominant vs. secondary patterns00:07:04 - Using your type in daily life00:07:35 - Using types to improve relationships/teams00:08:20 -Types ≠ personality labels00:09:02 - Control (expectations & flexibility)00:13:01 - Impulsivity (build the pause muscle)00:15:09 - Validation (approve from within)00:19:09 - Catastrophizing (turn it into problem-solving)00:21:10 - Isolation (safe vulnerability)00:26:01 - Assertive (act without reactivity)00:30:08 - Recap of all six types + first steps00:31:04 - Common triggers by type & targeted resets00:32:18 - TRANSFORM 10.0 overview00:33:00 - What's next: research, tools, and supportWork with Dr. Ali
In this episode, we break down everything chicken and gamefowl breeders need to know about Avian Metapneumovirus (aMPV) — a fast-moving respiratory virus that threatens, not only your flock's health, but also the integrity of your bloodlines and breeding program. From swollen heads and foamy eyes to plummeting egg production and fertility issues, aMPV can wreak havoc in both commercial and small-scale breeding operations if not caught early and managed properly. We'll cover: What aMPV is and why it's a growing threat in the U.S. Subtypes and where they're spreading across poultry-producing states Clinical signs in chickens, turkeys, and gamefowl How the virus spreads — and why your own boots might be the culprit Treatment options and the real value of supportive care Essential prevention strategies: biosecurity, vaccination, and flock management How aMPV can derail your breeding progress and set back your strain development Whether you're raising birds for show, breeding champions, or producing for the table, this episode arms you with the vital knowledge to detect, prevent, and fight back against one of today's most disruptive poultry diseases. The nine Enneagram types tell us a lot, but the Enneagram subtypes descriptions offer an even more nuanced view of the personality types, shedding light on our most unconscious level of functioning so we can become more self-aware. The Enneagram describes three centers of human intelligence—the head, heart, and body. Each triad then divides into three to create nine interconnected personality types. These types also each have their own triad—the third level of three—the 27 subtypes. Subtypes are based on whether a person has a predominant instinctual drive toward Self-Preservation, Social interaction in groups, or One-to-one bonding. In this one-hour event, Bea and Uranio will discuss the Enneagram subtypes—everything you wanted to know (but didn't know to ask) ahead of their 2023 series, Mastering the 27 Enneagram Subtypes for Maximum Growth.By the way, you can watch and listen to most of our episodes now. All Enneagram types have a particular thing that they focus their attention on (often unconsciously). Understanding each of these points of focus is one of the best ways for people to learn about the Nine types and the 27 subtypes. People tend to become very good at the thing they pay attention to, but they tend to miss the bigger picture. For inner growth, it's essential to expand your vision and to be able to shift your focus to things that your personality tries hard to hide.Bea and Uranio offer tips on how to observe what you habitually pay attention to and how to expand your narrow focus to encompass a greater, more balanced perspective so that you can mature both psychologically and spiritually. If you want to discover which Enneagram Type you could be, visit our webpage cpenneagram.com/compass to learn about the Enneagram Test they just launched, CPS Enneagram Compass. If you have enjoyed this podcast, please subscribe and share it with others that you think would enjoy it. The core focus of this episode revolves around the intricate dynamics of the instincts, or instinctual biases within the Enneagram framework, specifically addressing the distinctions between the various schools of thought on this subject. We examine the varying perspectives offered by our esteemed teachers, highlighting how these biases or drives can influence behavior and interpersonal relations, while also considering their implications for personal development. As we engage in this multifaceted conversation, we invite listeners to reflect on their own experiences and observations regarding these instinctual drives, as they are essential in shaping our interactions and self-perceptions. Ultimately, we aim to illuminate the complexities and provide clarity on how the instincts can be harnessed for greater self-awareness and growth.Resources:The Narrative Tradition - https://www.narrativeenneagram.org/programs/instincts-subtypes-3/The Enneagram Institute - https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/how-the-enneagram-system-works/#h-the-three-instinctsAwareness to Action - https://awarenesstoaction.com/our-instinctual-biases-three-patterns-of-attention-and-values-and-how-they-shape-the-way-we-work/IEA Pod: Exploring the Instincts & Subtypes pt 1 IEA Pod: Exploring the Instincts & Subtypes pt 2 IEA Pod: Exploring the Instincts & Subtypes pt 3Cognitive Bias Resources - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_biasLogical Fallacies - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies Science Books“Behave” by Robert Sapolsky“Social Chemistry” by Marissa King7 ½ Lessons About the Brain” by Lisa Feldman Barrett“The Selfish Gene” by Richard Dawkins“Basic Instinct: The Genesis of Behavior” by Mark S.
