We kick things off by accidentally introducing the wrong show, arguing about Bonnie Tyler lyrics, and discovering that turning away from the camera reveals a wall-to-wall penny situation nobody knew was there. From there, things get real fast. Spencer is having kind of a rough go of it: missing his ex, stuck on video game programming, smoking too much weed to feel high anymore, but finds unexpected joy in the philosophical similarities between Minecraft and coding. The conversation meanders through THAC0 (the famously cursed old Dungeons & Dragons combat mechanic), the surprisingly cherry-forward nature of Mr. Pibb, Kevin's deeply controversial love of RC Cola, and a Diablo 4-branded Fanta that Spencer considers one of the great sodas of our time. We also wade into the current state of society: the FBI finding reports "credible" while nobody does anything about it, data centers making people on Threads suspicious for reasons that make no sense, the Goonbug mobile game phenomenon and the observation that the American Dream has quietly pivoted from "be a doctor" to "get hit by a truck for a settlement." Spencer also delivers a passionate sermon about labor vs. ideas, and the whole thing wraps up with an AI-generated email reply, a fantastic Hulk Hogan impression, and Spencer encouraging listeners to run him over with their cars as a form of support. 70 ans !

As with many blockbuster sequels, the Shrek 2 soundtrack is filled with expensive needle drops, covers of famous songs, and a new song that was nominated for the 2004 Best Original Song Oscar. That would be the Counting Crows' "Accidentally in Love", which would end up falling to Jorge Drexler's "Al Otro Lado del Rio" from The Motorcycle Diaries. For covers, you have Butterfly Boucher covering David Bowie's "Changes", Frou Frou covering Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero" and Pete Droge covering "Ever Fallen in Love" by the Buzzcocks. Tom Waits and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds also appear in the soundtrack with previously released songs, as do The Eels, who are the connective thread between the various Shrek soundtracks. Valentine's Day is usually a parade of roses and power ballads, but Dave and Rob are taking a scenic detour through the heartbreak aisle. The 80s had a special talent for turning breakups into epic events, complete with echoing drums, pleading vocals, and choruses that felt designed for late night staring contests with the ceiling. These songs did not whisper their sadness. They announced it with synthesizers, lighters held high, and enough emotional reverb to fill an arena. Whether you were dumped, doing the dumping, or just dramatically sighing for effect, the decade made sure you had the perfect soundtrack From Foreigner's wounded resolve to Air Supply's soft focus despair, the 80s breakup song was pure emotional craftsmanship. Richard Marx captured the ache of love slipping through your fingers, while Bonnie Tyler turned heartbreak into a full body experience, raspy voice and all. These were not just sad songs, they were monuments to love gone sideways, built with key changes and unapologetic sincerity. As Dave and Rob count down their favorite tear stained classics, expect a reminder that sometimes the best Valentine's playlist is the one that lets you feel it all, preferably with the volume up and the lights low Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/totally-80s-and-90s-recall/id1662282694    Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/11dk5TUoLUk4euD1Te1EYG?si=b37496eb6e784408    Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/1960c8f9-158d-43ac-89a6-d868ea1fe077/totally-80s-and-90s-recall    YouTube Podcasts: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH9lGakNgCDZUkkHMUu88uXYMJu_33Rab&si=xo0EEVJRSwS68mWZ   Playlists: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3zA5TNw3msEJvfvLO52qF8?si=I8Cq0N-2SVaNHDjQspO59Q    Apple: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/80s-breakup-songs/pl.u-38oWrY5Ig5GBpk   Amazon: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/cd94569cced94ed3bd5c1ae36f8b4de6sune?marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER&musicTerritory=US&ref=dm_sh_mggkjq9FAokZfxKoiZef5zVTX   Contact Us: Website: https://totally80s90srecall.podbean.com/  Email: 80s90srecall@gmail.com   LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/80s90srecall

Brad Zerbo and Jaytriot take listeners on a hilarious and deeply nostalgic ride through the songs they once hid from their friends—but secretly loved. From disco denials to new-wave confessions, the guys relive the moments that shaped their musical tastes, including the awkward childhood discoveries, the high-school peer pressure, and the unforgettable “caught red-handed” stories. The episode jumps through decades of guilty-pleasure classics: Bee Gees falsettos, Motown gems, Frank Sinatra bombast, 80s pop anthems, techno nostalgia, Bonnie Tyler melodrama, Chicago love ballads, and even glam-rock oddities that neither host would have admitted to liking back in the day. Their personal stories—Halloween costumes gone wrong, uncomfortable car-ride reveals, and cringe-yet-iconic party moments—bring the music to life with humor and heart. The guys also celebrate modern rediscoveries, genre mashups, and the joy of embracing the songs they once hid “deep underground.” The episode caps off with a surprise clip from GART and a tribute spin from The Rods, tying together family, fandom, and the music that shaped them.
