Estimated reading time: 6 minutes We've officially reached the pinnacle of the Top Dance and Club songs for 2025, and the result is… complicated. While the year wasn't devoid of quality, it landed short of expectations when viewed as a whole. There were standout records. There were undeniable earworms. However, the depth simply wasn't there. Party Favorz is closing out the year with just two volumes instead of the usual three or four. That decision wasn't arbitrary. Typically, the year-end list overflows with must-have club records, forcing careful balance across multiple releases. This time, that pressure never arrived. Volume 2 may end up slightly longer—or not. That call will be made once the final mix comes together. Either way, the numbers told a clear story. The Songs That Carried 2025 To be fair, 2025 did deliver several massive Dance and Club songs that refused to leave our heads. Tracks like Don't Wake Me Up, Destiny, Coming Up, Beautiful People, Dior, Hypnotized, Blessings, The Days, Stephanie, Say My Name, No Broke Boys, Dreamin', and Tell Me were all high-rotation records with real staying power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us-4C6Bz5nQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QcgxGxk1kQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2fSojJqyNY Each of these songs qualifies as an earworm in the purest sense. They connected quickly. They tested well on the floor. They held up across repeated listens. Yet even with those highlights, the overall list felt thinner than what's typical for a year-end roundup. That reality forced a rare adjustment. Adjusting the Bar for a Changing Market Historically, Party Favorz has relied on combined YouTube and Spotify streaming totals, supplemented by Beatport Top 10 entries that may not dominate mainstream platforms. That approach usually paints a complete picture of the year. In 2025, however, the mega-streaming hits were fewer and farther between. To round out the Top Dance Songs of 2025, the qualification threshold was lowered to one million combined streams. That wasn't a compromise in taste. Instead, it acknowledged a shifting landscape where listener attention is more fragmented than ever. With more genre-specific releases competing for smaller slices of the audience, fewer tracks reached those runaway numbers we once took for granted. The Ultimate Spring Break Dance Party Mix 2024! The Biggest Dance Songs of 2025 ...So Far! | Catch-Up 2025 The Season's HOTTEST Dance Club Songs: Jingle Electric 2021 Catch-Up 2024 Volume II: The Biggest Dance Club Songs of the Year…So Far! Top Dance Club Songs of the Year 2024 Volume I | The Year's Biggest Bangers! [Expanded] In the end, selection came down to resonance. Which songs stuck? Which records translated across clubs, playlists, and repeat plays? Judged by that metric, this list still delivers. Why John Summit Dominated the Year One thing listeners will immediately notice across both volumes is the heavy presence of John Summit. That wasn't favoritism—it was math. Summit continues to generate reliable streaming numbers while actively pushing beyond his comfort zone. Rather than repeating past success, he's collaborating with established vocalists and artists who haven't necessarily crossed into the mainstream. That approach results in original records that feel intentional rather than formulaic. Yes, he could easily deliver another “Shiver.” Instead, he's expanding his range. Along the way, Summit has also revisited classics like Sweet Disposition, Silence, and I Wanna Go, using them as connective tissue between generations. Between those moments, he released tracks such as Palm of My Hands, Focus, and Light Years, which showcase genuine artistic growth while giving his live sets far more dimension. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2jQjvNtawA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hizmDQ83kRI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNHfPqti1V8 Other Artists Who Defined the Year Beyond Summit, several names consistently showed up in the data. PAWSA, Prospa, and Odd Mob all posted strong streaming numbers that matched their growing influence on the global house scene. Meanwhile, David Guetta and Hypaton delivered one of the year's standout reinterpretations by sampling Bonnie Tyler's early-'80s classic Total Eclipse of the Heart for Together. It's dramatic, bold, and unapologetically built for big rooms—one of Party Favorz' favorite remixes of 2025. James Hype also maintained momentum with Don't Wake Me Up and Waterfalls, proving his run over the last few years is no fluke. In a surprise twist, Jonas Blue caught listeners off guard with the house-driven Edge of Desire, which performed far better than many expected. Clementine Douglas: A Defining Voice After last year's chart-topping collaboration with Calvin Harris on Happy, Clementine Douglas made it clear she's no one-off success. In 2025, she appeared prominently across multiple key releases—reuniting with Harris on Blessings, teaming with MK on Come Find Me, and joining Sonny Fodera on Tell Me. Few vocalists shaped the sound of the year as consistently as she did. Closing the Year Strong So while 2025 may not go down as a banner year for Dance and Club music, it certainly wasn't a loss. These two volumes capture the biggest records, the most memorable hooks, and the tracks that carried us through crowded floors and long nights. As Volume 2 lands in early 2026, Volume 1 sets the tone—focused, intentional, and packed with highlights worth revisiting. Welcome to Top Dance Songs of 2025 Volume 1.Until the next time...ENJOY! In Part 3 of the Meat Loaf story, we explore the turbulent years and meteoric comeback between Dead Ringer and Bat Out of Hell II. As Meat Loaf's partnership with Jim Steinman collapses once again after Dead Ringer fails to live up to expectation and Steinman is released from his recording contract. As Steinman finds new found success penning massive hits for other artists like Bonnie Tyler with Total Eclipse of the Heart and Air Supply with Making Love Out of Nothing at All. While Steinman thrived, Meat Loaf was left to go it alone, as he struggled to write his own material while facing mounting pressures from his record label, his managers, and even Steinman himself as he would be hit with a wave of lawsuits that ultimately drove him to bankruptcy. Forced to retreat from the lime light, Meat turned his focus to his family by coaching his daughters Little League team before reuniting with Steinman for an incredible comeback that no one saw coming. As Meat earned himself a Grammy with I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That), cementing his place in rock history as an all time great as Meat finds himself in a great place towards the mid 90's and gears up for the final act of his remarkable journey, set to be explored in the final part of the Meat Loaf story. Kevin Kelly has spent more time thinking about the future than almost anyone else. From VR in the 1980s to the blockchain in the 2000s—and now generative AI—Kevin has spent a lifetime journeying to the frontiers of technology, only to return with rich stories about what's next.Today, as Wired's senior maverick, his project for 2025 is to outline what the next century looks like in a world shaped by new technologies like AI and genetic engineering. He's a personal hero of mine—not to mention a fellow Annie Dillard fan—and it was a privilege to have him on the show. We get into:How you can predict the future. According to Kevin, the draw of new frontiers—from the first edition of Burning Man and remote corners of Asia, to the early days of the internet and AI—isn't staying at the edge forever; it's returning with a story to tell. Why history is so important to help you understand the future To stay grounded while exploring what's new, Kevin balances the thrill of the future with the wisdom of the past. He pairs AI research with reading about history, and playing with an AI tool by retreating to his workshop to make something with his hands. From 1,000 true fans to an audience of one. Rather than creating for an audience, Kevin has been using LLMs to explore his own imagination. After realizing that da Vinci, Martin Luther, and Columbus were alive at the same time, he asked ChatGPT to imagine them snowed in at a hotel together, and the prompt spiraled into an epic saga, co-written with AI. But he has no plans to publish it because the joy was in creating something just for himself. What the history of electricity can teach us about AI. Kevin draws a parallel between AI and the early days of electricity. We could produce electric sparks long before we understood the forces that created them, and now we're building intelligent machines without really understanding what intelligence is.Why Kevin sees intelligence as a mosaic—not a monolith. Kevin believes intelligence isn't a single force, but a compound of many cognitive elements. He draws from Marvin Minsky's “society of mind”—the theory that the mind is made up of smaller agents working together—and sees echoes of this in the Mixture of Experts architecture used in some models today.Your competitive advantage is being yourself. Where in the world are Sonia C. and Sonia T.? Joining us this week from Paris and New Orleans, our podcast hosts are feeling the effects of the recent eclipse and blood moon. They're not the only ones who are feeling ungrounded right now. Embrace Mindfulness Live Workshop in Billings, Montana, May 2025 Highlights: The eclipses and the solstice are stirring up trouble. [1:24] Sonia C.'s clients are feeling super psychic right now. [3:25] Check your boundaries - what are others asking of you? [5:06] What are you asking of others? [7:45] We aren't always looking for solutions, sometimes we just want a listening ear. Certain aspects of the world are in flux right now, and it is so important right now to stay in our hearts and our higher vibration. Use this time to recheck boundaries and tune into vibrations, and you should not be tossed about as much. Check yourself - what are others asking of you, and what are you asking of others? Sonia C. and Sonia T. both had recent interactions that may not have meant much at any other time, but threw them for a loop during the eclipse. If this is happening to you, you're not alone! Check your boundaries, listen to your guides, and declutter your life so you are open to fresh energy! You are in control of your vibes, and your intuition knows when it's time to make the changes that will bring you joy. And while you're at it, put some joy out to others as well! You have the power to change the energy around you, and to make others glad that they encountered you, as well. Tool of the Week: Spread your brand of joy. This week, a magical marvel of a solar event stuns the world, and Kate and Caroline can't be bothered to go outside. Instead, they take a look into their mirrored furniture and do some self-reflection, such as why we always think the current version of ourselves participating in lightning-fast trend turnover is “timeless.” They also discuss various topics like avoiding popular movies and tv shows that will bum them out, fast furniture, SoulCycle music, etc. At one point, Kate goes on a rant about the marketing of a denim company that works overtime to remind her she probably hates her body post-baby, and they also spend quite a bit of time going through the Cupcakes & Cashmere archives on the Wayback machine. Israel said on Sunday that it was reducing its military presence in Gaza but rejected any suggestion that it was a sign the war was winding down. Sunday also marked six months since Hamas attacked Israel, killed 1,200 people and took another 250 hostage. Ceasefire negotiations resumed over the weekend in Cairo amid the ongoing international fallout over an Israeli strike that killed seven aid workers with World Central Kitchen.A rare total solar eclipse will cross a large swath of North America on Monday, and more than a dozen states from Texas to Maine are within the “path of totality.” It's only the second total solar eclipse to be visible in the U.S. in the 21st century. Scientists have a simple message for viewers: Don't look directly at it!And in headlines: Former President Donald Trump's campaign claimed it raised $50 million at a weekend fundraiser, a man was arrested and charged on Sunday for starting a fire outside Sen. Bernie Sanders' congressional office in Vermont, and the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks bested Iowa and star guard Caitlin Clark in Sunday's NCAA women's championship game.Show Notes:What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

A Massachusetts man who received a kidney from a genetically modified pig is recovering well. Also, on April 8, a total solar eclipse will plunge parts of North America into darkness. Scientists answer the questions you asked.Recipient Of Pig Kidney Transplant Leaves The HospitalLast month, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston announced that a team of doctors had transplanted a kidney from a genetically engineered pig into a living human for the first time. This week, that patient, a 62-year-old man living with end-stage kidney disease, was sent home from the hospital, having recovered enough to be discharged. Sixty-nine genes were edited in the donor pig, including three that coded for a certain sugar found on the surface of pig cells. The edits, hopefully, will make it less likely for the human recipient to reject the transplant.Umair Irfan, senior correspondent at Vox, joins Ira Flatow to talk about the xenotransplantation advance, and how it could affect patients awaiting donor organs. They'll also talk about other stories from the week in science, including how power grid operators are preparing for the upcoming solar eclipse, NASA's search for a new lunar rover, an advance in getting robots to make appropriate faces, research into using a drug similar to the obesity medication Ozempic to delay Parkinson's symptoms, and plans for a new time zone—on the moon.Answering Your Questions About Monday's EclipseAfter months of excitement, the 2024 total solar eclipse is almost here! On Monday, April 8, the moon will line up perfectly between the Sun and the Earth. For a few short minutes, it'll plunge parts of North America into total darkness—right in the middle of the day.More than 30 million people live in the path of totality—where the moon will completely block off the sun. It stretches from northwest Mexico, across the US, and into southeastern Canada. Depending how far you are from the path, you might experience a partial eclipse. Magical, nonetheless.Ira talks with Dr. Padi Boyd, astrophysicist at NASA and host of the agency's podcast Curious Universe, and Mark Breen, meteorologist and planetarium director at the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium in Vermont. They answer questions our readers and listeners have submitted about the eclipse, and discuss why we should be excited, how to prepare, and what scientists can learn from this phenomenon. For more eclipse-day tips and facts, visit our website.Transcripts for each segment will be available the week after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
