Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.Support the show

So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 19 We love each other because he loved us first.Support the show

Joy in this perspective is the fruit of hope.” ― Henri J.M. NouwenPsalm 33"1 Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord;    it is fitting for the pure to praise him.2 Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre;    make music for him on the ten-stringed harp.3 Sing a new song of praise to him;    play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy.4 For the word of the Lord holds true,    and we can trust everything he does.5 He loves whatever is just and good;    the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.6 The Lord merely spoke,    and the heavens were created. He breathed the word,    and all the stars were born.7 He assigned the sea its boundaries    and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.8 Let the whole world fear the Lord,    and let everyone stand in awe of him.9 For when he spoke, the world began!    It appeared at his command.10 The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations    and thwarts all their schemes.11 But the Lord's plans stand firm forever;    his intentions can never be shaken.12 What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,    whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.13 The Lord looks down from heaven    and sees the whole human race.14 From his throne he observes    all who live on the earth.15 He made their hearts,    so he understands everything they do.16 The best-equipped army cannot save a king,    nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.17 Don't count on your warhorse to give you victory—    for all its strength, it cannot save you.18 But the Lord watches over those who fear him,    those who rely on his unfailing love.19 He rescues them from death    and keeps them alive in times of famine.20 We put our hope in the Lord.    He is our help and our shield.21 In him our hearts rejoice,    for we trust in his holy name.22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,    for our hope is in you alone."Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/beingpodcast)

Hello! We're in Season 2 of the Being Podcast: New Life!  Today we'll be going through 1 Peter 1:3-7, a passage that reminds us of the new life we've been promised, and the hope ahead.1 Peter 1:3-7"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.6 So be truly glad.  There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world."Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/beingpodcast)

For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God."Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/beingpodcast)

John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son.John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'”From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart. He has revealed God to us."Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/beingpodcast)
