In this episode of the Gold & Blue Breakdown, Couz and Jonathan will look ahead to WVU football's upcoming contest against the Cincinnati Bearcats in week 11 of the college football season. This Big 12 football matchup features two teams who are both 3-2 in league play and trying to stay in the conference title race. The West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Bearcats in a game that will kickoff at 12:00pm Eastern time and will air on FS1. West Virginia starting quarterback Garrett Greene is doubtful for the game due to injury, so Nicco Marchiol will once again be looked upon to lead the Mountaineer offense. Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby will look to star running back Corey Kiner to make big plays in the run game against a stiff Mountaineer rush defense. Sorsby may also rely on wide receiver Xzavier Henderson to take advantage of a WVU secondary that has struggled all season long. Meanwhile, the WVU defense will be led by new Defensive Coordinator Jeff Koonz, who replaces Jordan Lesley. Lesley was fired by head coach Neal Brown during the bye week. Marchiol will need to lean on the rushing attack with C.J. Donaldson and Jahiem White to keep the Mountaineer offense balanced. Which team can stay on the winning track after bye weeks and stay in the Big 12 championship hunt? Couz and Jonathan will answer that in the episode. #wvufootball #cincinnatibearcats #big12football ⭐️Sponsor: https://www.katzkantor.com⭐️

The West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to Tucson, Arizona to take on the Wildcats in a game that will kickoff at 7:00pm Eastern time and will air on FS1. Both teams are expected to have key players out with injury. West Virginia starting quarterback Garrett Greene is questionable, along with running back Jahiem White and left tackle Wyatt Milum. Arizona will be without their starting left tackle and also their leading tackler in linebacker, Jacob Manu. Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita will look to star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan to make big plays against a Mountaineer secondary that has struggled all season long. Meanwhile, WVU will look to utilize their great rushing attack with White (if he plays), along with CJ Donaldson. If Garrett Greene is unable to go, backup Nicco Marchiol will get the start. Marchiol is also a weapon on the ground, much like Greene. Which 3-4 team can get back to .500 in this one? They will give their three keys to victory for WVU, will take a look at key position battles and a key player to watch for Neal Brown's West Virginia team.  Sophomore phenom Avery Johnson leads K-State into Morgantown, WV to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers this Saturday, October 19 in what will be a 7:30pm EDT kickoff on FOX. Johnson, who has thrown for over 1,100 yards and ran for over 300 in just six games, will look to his backfield mate D.J. Giddens to help lead the Wildcats to victory. Giddens has rushed for 786 yards so far on the season and is averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Brendan Mott, who leads the Big 12 with 6.5 sacks, will lead Coach Chris Klieman's KSU defense into Morgantown. WVU will be led by senior quarterback Garrett Greene, who has similar stats to Johnson. Greene has thrown for over 1,200 yards and ran for nearly 400. Can Greene and running back tandem C.J. Donaldson and Jaheim White carry the Mountaineers to victory? Couz and Jonathan will give you their opinion at the end of the show. They will look at keys to the game, position battles to watch, and key players to watch for the Mountaineers. They will also recap WVU's loss to Pitt in Week 3. The Kansas Jayhawks come to Morgantown to face West Virginia in a battle between 1-2 teams on Saturday, September 21. It will kickoff at 12:00pm Eastern Time and air on ESPN2. Kansas comes in led by quarterback Jalon Daniels. The preseason hype around Daniels was strong for the second straight season, but he has struggled through the first three games by throwing six interceptions to only three touchdowns. Fortunately for Daniels, he has star running back Devin Neal as backfield mate. Neal is averaging over 100 yards per game so far this season. West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene leads the Mountaineer offense into week four. However, the storyline has been the WVU defense, which is one of the worst in the country in pass defense. This has Defensive Coordinator Jordan Lesley and Head Coach Neal Brown both possibly on the hot seat. Will this be a get right game for Daniels against that Mountaineer secondary? Or, will it be a chance for Lesley and the WVU defense to get things right as Big 12 play begins. #wvufootball #kansasjayhawks #big12football ⭐️Sponsor: https://www.katzkantor.com⭐️

In this college football podcast, Couz & Jonathan will preview the upcoming WVU football game against the UAlbany Great Danes. They will give their keys to the game, their position battles to watch and one key player for the Mountaineers. They will also wrap-up the week 1 game against the Penn State Nittany Lions, which WVU lost 34-12. The fanbase around West Virginia football is growing anxious after the Mountaineers poor performance in their week 1 loss to the Nittany Lions. Week 2 of the 2024 college football season gives Neal Brown's squad a chance to rebound and fix the mistakes that cost them in the opening week. WVU will be led, once again, by Garrett Greene. The gunslinger struggled against Penn State and completed only 53% of his passes - which actually matched his percentage from the entire 2023 season. Greene, who typically also does damage to opposing defenses with his legs, was unable to gain any significant yardage in week one, but will likely look to correct that in week two. The two-headed monster at running back for the Mountaineers, C.J. Donaldson and Jahiem White, will also look to get their mojo back against UAlbany. Can they do better than the combined 80 yards against PSU? One would hope so against an FCS opponent like the Great Danes. Defensively, WVU will be led by redshirt freshman linebacker, Josiah Trotter, who made a splash by getting 10 total tackles in week one, which was the most of any player on the team. That's impressive, considering it was his very first game at the college level and it came against a top ten Penn State team. The Great Danes have several former power four players on their roster, including wide receiver Seven McGee, who once played for Deion Sanders at Jackson State. Prior to that, McGee played for the Oregon Ducks. McGee had a big game in week one of the season as he caught five passes for 125 yards and a touchdown in a win over Long Island University. Passing the ball to McGee is former Wisconsin Badger backup quarterback, Myles Burkett. Burkett had a rough game against LIU, only completing 12 of 26 passes. However, it was his first game as the signal caller for the Great Danes and he will likely bounce back in week two. Albany also have a strong running back in Griffin Woodell. The 5 foot 10 inch back ran for 85 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries against LIU last week. He will look to have another strong outing against WVU behind a veteran offensive line that returns from last year's team, which made the FCS National Semi-Finals. Will the Mountaineers take care of business against their lone non-power 4 opponent? See what Couz and Jonathan have to say in the episode. #wvu #wvufootball #ualbany

In this WVU football podcast, Couz and Jonathan Martin will preview the upcoming week 1 college football game between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. They will look at three keys to the game for the Mountaineers, two position battles to watch, one key player to watch and then will give their score predictions at the end. Penn State travels to Morgantown, West Virginia on August 31 to take on WVU. Both teams are opening up the 2024 college football season with this game. The Nittany Lions are eight point favorites upon the recording of the show and are ranked in the top 10 in nearly every preseason poll. Most pundits also have them making the College Football Playoff at the end of the season. The Nittany Lions are led by quarterback Drew Allar and a very talented running back tandem of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton. The two backs combined to eclipse the 1,600 yard mark in 2023. They do have question marks at the wide receiver position and replace three starting offensive linemen. There are fewer question marks on the PSU defense. They have NFL talent everywhere, led by defensive end/linebacker Abdul Carter. His speed makes him a matchup nightmare coming off the edge or up the middle. They also have star safety KJ Winston who led the team with 61 tackles last season, and defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton. The speedy quarterback Garrett Greene will lead the Mountaineer offense into the game. He is also flanked by a talented pair of running backs in C.J. Donaldson and Jahiem White. The trio ran for over 2,000 yards in 2023. Greene also threw for over 2,000 yards with only four interceptions. The Mountaineer defense is led by safety Aubrey Burks and defensive end Sean Martin. The two seniors will look to improve this WVU defense that had its share of struggles last season. WVU will rely on several transfers in the secondary, including Garnett Hollis who came over from Northwestern via the transfer portal. Will the Mountaineer fans will their team to victory, or will the talent of Penn State be too much for West Virginia to overcome? Jonathan and Couz answer those questions in the episode. #wvufootball #wvu #pennstatefootball

Alec will provide a Penn State perspective on the upcoming contest and answer questions about injuries, the new offensive & defensive coordinators in Happy Valley, how PSU will replace first round NFL Draft pick Olu Fashanu at left tackle, the star running backs, and what questions need answered for James Franklin's squad. The guys will also talk about injuries, the Penn State schedule, recruiting and more. Quarterback Drew Allar leads the Penn State Nittany Lions into Morgantown, West Virginia on August 31 to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the Big 12 Conference. Allar will be flankered by two star running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who are set to have big seasons for the Nittany Lions. Defensively, PSU is loaded at just about every position, but the most talented may be defensive end Abdul Carter. Carter is moving over after playing linebacker for former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. Former Indiana Head Coach, Tom Allen, will be leading Carter and the PSU defense in 2024 after Diaz left to take the head job at Duke. For West Virginia, they will be led by senior quarterback, Garrett Greene, who looks to not only make big plays in the pass game, but also do damage with his legs. The speedy quarterback will miss his All-American center, Zach Frazier, but WVU still returns a lot of experience and talent on their offensive line. They also have two good running backs in Jahiem White and C.J. Donaldson, who will look to control the game on the ground. The Mountaineers will need to play much better on defense than they did in the 2023 game, when Allar carved up the Mountaineer secondary through the air. Can transfer cornerbacks Garnett Hollis (Northwestern) and Ayden Garnes (Duquesne) stop the Penn State passing attack? Couz and Alec will discuss this and much more in the video. #wvufootball #pennstatefootball #collegefootball
