We can all be avid readers. No matter how technology advances, we need to be a people of books! If you feel like you are not a good reader, as though good books are over your head - don't worry, you can learn to be a good reader! Sarah shares her story, which should give us all encouragement and confidence that we, too, can become readers of great books. What should we do if we start reading a book that's garbage? Are audiobooks OK? Which books should we read with our kids? Sarah and E.J. also talk about the amount of reading. Especially as busy moms and dads, we might feel like we don't have time to read. But we do! 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there. Look at your screen time, you've got the time in there. Books shape our character and our worldview. We also need to be reading great books with our kids to help share theirs. While doing so, we create strong and special bonds with our children, we grow and we laugh with them, and - with the right books and, most notably, the Good Book - we understand God and His ways more fully along with our spouses and children. Book-lovers will certainly enjoy this episode and we hope it will motivate and encourage everyone who listens to be readers of great books! Episode Summary. One of the great truths of life is that one's mental perspective determines one's attitude. Eve believed the lie that God's command not to eat the fruit was selfish and that God was keeping something to be desired—the knowledge of good and evil—from her. That perspective led to the attitude of rebellion which led to the action of sin. This episode seeks to better understand how wrong thinking leads to wrong attitudes, which is why we need to protect the rising generation from the destructive ideas invading their lives. For Further Prayerful Thought:What examples most stood out to you about the way our mental perspective determines our attitude?Of the eight ideologies identified and evaluated through a biblical lens, which ones do you see most clearly in the culture? Which ones do you think are most deceiving teenagers? What are the evil parallels between Marxism and cultural Marxism? Why do you think that otherwise mature Christians who are calling the church back to a concern for social justice are falling into some of its evil tenets? Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Corinne Britti. Corinne is a comedian and an actress. Her recent projects include: For Sale, Condor's Nest, Take Care of Emily, and Saturday Night. In this episode, we chat about what made her want to be an actress, and why she felt NYU Tisch was the place to go. We discuss some of the things that you DON'T learn in acting school, and some of the things she learned at the Stone Street Conservatory. Corinne shares funny audition stories, and even a story about why there were bodies strewn all over her apartment during Covid! I ask her about the live comedy show / therapy session she co-created, and whether she plans to bring it back. She shares how she came to work on an ICE T music video, and we talk about some of her previous projects, and some of the weird ways that filmmakers find their talent. Naturally we touch on her new film SATURDAY NIGHT; which is in theaters NOW. In this film, Corinne plays real life comedian Valri Bromfield; and the film covers the back stage events in the hour or so leading up to the LIVE pilot of Saturday Night Live. Since this film is directed and co-written by Jason Reitman, naturally I ask what it was like to work with him, and I ask if she would ever work with him again. Her answer may surprise you..... but probably not! GO SEE SATURDAY NIGHT!!
This week's fan-favorite, two-time Emmy award-winning actor, Eric Stonestreet, thinks Modern Family missed its chance of a spin-off featuring his character in Missouri despite the script being ready. Stonestreet talks about the small reunion with some of his castmates for a recent commercial and discusses the possibility of a larger reunion sometime in the near future.
Graham travels to Kansas City for a day with Eric Stonestreet. The Modern Family star shares his unique midwest upbringing tending to livestock as a kid. He also explains how his clowning side hustle got him in trouble once, and the heartbreak that lead him down the path to becoming an actor. The Emmy winner goes into detail about the grueling audition process to get the role of Cam and reveals behind the scenes stories on the set of the hit show. Stonestreet also remembers the emotions of his father's passing, and explains how he became friends with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The success of America is, at least in part, dependent upon its citizens' ability to “self-govern,” John Stonestreet says. “Faith and family are the most obvious” ingredients required for people to be able to govern themselves, says Stonestreet, president of the nonprofit Colson Center and host of the “Breakpoint” podcast. The Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Colson Center was founded by Chuck Colson, who served in the Nixon administration and went on to become one of the most influential Christian thought leaders of his time. Why?Because faith and family “play the most significant role in forming us,” he explained. But today, much of the U.S. population has lost sight of these two necessities for self-governance. According to a recent Gallup poll, 68% of Americans say they identify with a Christian religion, whether in the Protestant or Catholic tradition, but 24 years ago, that number was 86%. Today, children being told they may have been born in the wrong body, abortion still the leading cause of death among babies, and about 1 in every 4 U.S. children is growing up without a father in the home, according to the National Fatherhood Initiative. Stonestreet joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss how Christians can rise to meet the current moment in history with hope and solutions to the troubles facing America. Stonestreet also discusses Christians' role within politics. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It was 2017 and President Donald Trump had just arrived in the Oval Office. The Women's March took to the streets of D.C. proclaiming a message of “strength,” but Sarah Stonestreet did not see empowerment, but anger. “The overarching message was [a] middle finger to the chauvinistic world,” Stonestreet says of the marchers, adding that the underlying theme appeared to be “pursue your own happiness, no matter the casualties.” With three daughters of her own, Stonestreet did not want the Women's March to be telling her daughters, or women across America for that matter, what it means to be a strong woman, so she took action and launched a podcast to speak truth into the lives of girls and women. Now, every week, on the “Strong Women” podcast Sarah sits down with women like Joni Eareckson Tada, Kori Robertson, and Katy Faust to ask them to share their stories of overcoming hardship to daily live out what it means to be a woman clothed in strength. Stonestreet joins the “Problematic Women” podcast to answer the question, what is a strong woman? And What does the Bible say about what it means to be a woman of integrity and courage?Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Another day, another celeb called out for being an A-hole. Last month, on Paige DeSorbo's Amazon Live show, “In Bed with Paige DeSorbo,” podcaster Taylor Strecker was asked who the worst guest was on her podcast “Taste of Taylor." Her answer - former “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet. Taylor told Paige that unlike the lovable fan-favorite Cam that he played for 11 hit seasons, Eric was not so lovable in real life. In fact, she called him “nasty.” Not only are people online weighing in with their personal takes on Eric, so is Brooke. What exactly is a ‘strong woman'? How are women a crucial part of God's ministry of reconciliation? Our culture has so much to say about what a thriving woman looks like in the 21st century. But have these ideas been shaped by secular ideas, or by a biblical worldview? Sarah Stonestreet, host of the Strong Women Podcast, shares what a strong woman of God looks like and how every woman has a story of real strength. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslims set fire to Christians' homes in Egypt On Tuesday, April 23rd at 11:00 p.m., Islamic extremists set fire to several homes and shops owned by Coptic Orthodox Christians in Egypt's Minya Governorate, reports International Christian Concern. Shockingly, as the flames grew, the Muslims attempted to prevent the Christians from leaving their burning homes. Extremists later shared a video on social media showing Coptic homes on fire as a song, praising the attack, played in the background. The attack occurred after word spread that residents of the village, which is home to 3,000 Christian families, had obtained a permit to construct a church building. Some associated with the church received threats after the building permit was issued. Despite promises of safety from security forces, the cries of help from the archbishop and the local Coptic community went unanswered as the attack unfolded. Security forces arrived only after the attack, leaving a yet unknown number of Christians to perish in their burning homes. According to Open Doors, Egypt is the 38th most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. America to militarily withdraw from Niger, Africa Niger, Africa has demanded that the United States militarily withdraw from the country, reports CNN. In response, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell met with Niger's Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine on Friday to put those plans in motion. The major drawdown will significantly impact the U.S. troop presence on the continent of Africa. The move comes amid serious U.S. concerns about the country's deepening relationships with Russia and Iran. Haitian Prime Minister resigns Haiti's Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigned on Thursday as a new council was sworn in to lead the country gripped by deadly gang violence, reports the BBC. He agreed to step down last month after armed groups blocked his return to Haiti. Gangs now control most of Port-au-Prince, the capital. Teen suspended for “Only Two Genders” t-shirt A Catholic teenager has been suspended from his Ontario public high school for wearing a sweatshirt that said, “There are only two genders,” reports LifeSiteNews.com. Malachy O'Kane, age 16, was suspended on April 18, the second day he decided to wear his gender critical shirt to the Granite Ridge Education Centre in Sharbot Lake, a village near Kingston, Ontario. He was excluded from school for six days, beginning Friday, April 19. O'Kane was first told to remove his shirt by the school's vice-principal, Wojtek Czermak, after the teenager was called out of his classroom about 30 minutes after the school day began. When the student asked what the problem was, a school counselor said, “It's considered hate speech.” In Genesis 1:27, the Bible says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Harvey Weinstein's rape conviction is overturned Yesterday, New York's highest court threw out Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction because the trial judge unfairly allowed testimony against Weinstein based on allegations that were not part of the case, reports The Associated Press. The ruling shocked and disappointed women who celebrated historic gains during the #MeToo era and left those who testified in the case bracing for a retrial against the ex-movie mogul. Weinstein, age 72, will remain in prison because he was convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of another rape. But the New York ruling reopens a painful chapter in America's reckoning with sexual misconduct by powerful figures — an era that began in 2017 with a flood of allegations against Weinstein. Youth need (1) the truth and (2) connection to intergenerational relationships John Stonestreet, president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, warned an audience that young people today are "untethered" from the truth and disconnected from meaning and purpose, reports The Christian Post. Last month at City Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he said, “Students today, just quite simply, need two things. They need, first of all, to hear the truth. … We live in a world that's detached itself from the source [of truth]." Stonestreet quoted a British survey conducted over a decade, which found that initially, 13 years ago, 90% of young people, aged 18-28, believed that life had meaning. However, when the same question was asked 10 years later, only 10% of respondents reportedly felt that life had meaning. He said, "There's never been a generation so untethered from God. Even in generations past, when we fooled around with ideas about whether God exists or not, we still lived in a culture where family was the norm and largely stable.” According to Stonestreet, the solution is the reintroduction of truth through intergenerational relationships and mentoring. God's meteor shower And finally, every year from April 15 to April 29, dozens of shooting stars streak through the sky in this spectacular show from God, reports Business Insider. The Lyrid meteor shower is in full swing this week. Unfortunately, the bright supermoon could make it harder to see it. The meteor shower was most active from Sunday night to Monday morning, but it will remain visible for the next week. In the Northern Hemisphere, the best time to see the Lyrids is during the early morning hours after the moon sets and before the sun rises. Psalm 19:1 declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Friday, April 26th in the year of our Lord 2024. Chris Jackson of Stonestreet Estate Vineyards and Jackson Family Wines (Kendall-Jackson) joined Bruce to talk about all things wine, including why Healdsburg, California, is the best wine town to visit in America, the truth about how the family business got started (and how it was pretty much a “catastrophe”), and other wine destinations he loves and why you should visit them. Should Sonoma Valley be your first choice over Napa? Before revealing what regions the Jackson family feels represent the future of wine (and why a shift in wine regions proves climate change is real), Chris talks about what makes Stonestreet Estate and its 54,000 acres so unique, what wines you'll taste on the Stonestreet Mountain Excursion, why Stonestreet releases wines five years of age minimum, and how the Jackson family makes decisions centuries, if not decades, out. He then takes us on a wild tour of McLaren Vale and gives us a taste of his top spots in Italy and Oregon. Impress your fine-wine-loving friends by sending them this earthy and elegant episode!
