The federal government has the authority to deport foreign nationals in the U.S. illegally over the objection of local authorities, a panel of three judges on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled. The 29-page ruling was written by Judge Daniel Bress, with judges Michael Hawkins and Richard Clinton concurring. At issue is an April 2019 executive order issued by King County Executive Dow Constantine, which directed county officials to prohibit fixed base operators on a county airfield near Seattle from servicing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement charter flights used to deport illegal foreign nationals. Constantine's order prohibited King County International Airport from supporting “the transportation and deportation of immigration detainees in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, either traveling within or arriving or departing the United States or its territories.”

OU beat writers Ryan Aber and Colton Sulley discuss the Sooners' quarterback switch from Jackson Arnold to Michael Hawkins Jr. and the Auburn game.
Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss College Football Pick Prediction 10/26/2024 by Tony T. Oklahoma at Mississippi 12PM ET—Oklahoma fell to 4-3 following their 35-9 home defeat to South Carolina. The Sooners gained 291 yards with 53 rushing for 1.3 yards a carry. On defense they held the Gamecocks to 254 yards with 180 passing on 27 attempts. Michael Hawkins completed 3 of 5 passes for 18 yards and two interceptions. Jackson Arnold was 18 of36 for 225 yards and a touchdown. Ole Miss sits at 5-2 with their 29-26 road defeat to LSU. The Rebels put up 464 yards with 180 rushing for 4.3 yards a carry. Defensively they allowed 421 yards to the Tigers with 447 passing on 51 attempts. Jaxson Dart hit 24 of 42 for 284 yards with a touchdown and interception.
South Carolina vs. Oklahoma College Football Pick Prediction 10/19/2024 by Tony T. South Carolina at Oklahoma 12:45PM ET—South Carolina sits at 3-3 after their 27-25 road defeat at Alabama. The Gamecocks put up 374 yards with 132 rushing for 3.4 yards a carry. Defensively they allowed 313 yards to the Crimson Tide with 104 rushing for 2.7 yards a carry. LaNorris Sellers went 23 of 31 for 238 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Oklahoma fell to 4-2 with their 34-3 defeat to Texas. The Sooners gained 237 yards with 89 rushing for 2.3 yards a carry. On defense they surrendered 406 yards to the Longhorns with 177 rushing for 5.9 yards a carry. Michael Hawkins completed 19 of 30 for 148 yards.
Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview South Carolina's road trip to Oklahoma, which can be seen on the SEC Network at 11:45 Central. Topics include: The Gamecocks nearly pulled an upset at Alabama, while injury-plagued Oklahoma couldn't move the ball last week against Texas. Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is a headache to handle as a big guy who can really run. Rocket Sanders has flashed good things much of the year, just as he did against Alabama. Is Nyck Harbor nearing a breakout after a big catch last week? Oklahoma's run defense, led by Grayson Halton and Danny Stutsman, has been excellent. South Carolina turns the ball over frequently, and could be at risk of a Billy Bowman pick-6. But Oklahoma also turns the ball over, and the Carolina defense, with Dylan Stewart and Kyle Kennard up front and Nick Emmanwori, O'Donnell Fortune, Vicari Swain and others on the back end, can also create scores of its own. Michael Hawkins did big things in the win over Auburn, but does he have enough help to beat an outstanding defense? Texas vs. Oklahoma College Football Pick Prediction 10/12/2024 by Tony T. Texas vs. Oklahoma 3:30PM ET—Game played in neutral site in Cotton Bowl. Texas improved to 5-0 following their 35-13 home win to Mississippi St. The Longhorns gained 523 yards with 198 rushing for 6.4 yards a carry. On defense they held the Bulldogs to 294 yards with 150 rushing for 3 yards a carry. Quinn Ewers has practiced and leaning towards playing after his ab injury. In three games he is hitting 73.4% of his passes with 8.7 yards per pass attempt. Oklahoma is 4-1 with their 27-21 road win at Auburn. The Sooners put up 291 yards with 130 rushing for 4 yards a carry. On defense they allowed 482 yards to the Tigers with 338 passing on 32 attempts. Michael Hawkins hit 10 of 15 for 161 yards. He rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Grant briefly describes being at the Minnesota-USC game and storming the field after the Gophers' win (1:10). We jump into what we learned from the Brent Venables news conference. Should OU use Texas as a measuring stick? OU's been the better team several years over the last generation and we wish the Sooners would have won more of them (3:00). Lee was proven wrong following last week's injury-related game. Dasan McCullough seems to be on track to play this week. What will his role be? Will Deion Burks be available? If there's no Burks, will Jacobe Johnson have a role on offense (11:50)? Quinn Ewers seems likely to start for Texas. Talking about Ewers and Arch Manning (22:00). Did Trace Ford give Texas some bulletin board material (27:00)? Lee's got some bye-related OU-Texas facts and figures. It's been more than 50 years since the Sooners beat Texas coming off a bye. Could that win in 1972 be a blueprint for OU beating Texas Saturday (31:45)? The guys don't see much of a point to dive deep into the matchups of this game because OU's offense is just so poor and Texas is really good on both sides of the ball. Something unexpected is going to have to happen in order for OU to win. Grant is curious to see if OU's offense will pull back the tempo (40:50). If OU had just a "good" offense Lee would be very confident in OU winning (49:20). The SEC Availability Report is hot off the press. This may mean good news for one OU running back. We also praise Luke Elzinga for being good at punting (55:00). Michael Hawkins should not be intimidated by the moment. Random thoughts on Auburn's offense, Grant has a prop on Gavin Sawchuk, and we wrap up the OU-Texas preview talk (1:01:40). Thoughts on the 2:30 kickoff time, Lee's going to a lot of State Fairs this year, and the guys talk about their first OU-Texas experience which was the 2008 game (1:07:30). We thank listeners for your 5-star reviews on Apple Podcasts (1:15:20). Thoughts on Vanderbilt's win over Alabama and we go over the SEC slate for Week 7. Also, Texas has a surprisingly difficult road schedule the rest of the season (1:18:30). Lee has one other thought about the QBs Texas has played this season and then we make weekly picks on Washington-Iowa/Penn State-USC/Ohio State-Oregon/Ole Miss-LSU/Kansas State-Colorado (1:27:15). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets

Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview and share their predictions for the Red River Rivalry game between Texas and Oklahoma in Week 7 of the 2024 college football season. Topics include: Texas has incredible offensive depth, starting with the quarterback room of a (presumably healthy) Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. The Longhorns have so many players on offense including Gunnar Helm, Isaiah Bond, Ryan Wingo, Matthew Golden, Jaydon Blue and Jerrick Gibson. Oklahoma's defense has 18 sacks and has forced turnovers on an elite 3.8% of snaps. The Longhorns' offensive line, led by Kelvin Banks, will have to be up to the task of blocking Danny Stutsman and company while Texas will have to keep the ball out of safety Billy Bowman's hands. Oklahoma has been injury-riddled at offensive line and receiver. Can the Sooners get a little healthier following a bye week? The Sooners will also get Michael Hawkins an extra week of practicing with the first team; Hawkins started the season as a backup to Jackson Arnold. Oklahoma has guys who can make plays like Deion Burks and (if they can get him healthy) Nic Anderson. Texas has so many playmakers on defense; seven different players (Jahdae Barron, Ethan Burke, Andrew Mukuba, Wardell Mack, Jay'Vion Cole, Derek Williams and Anthony Hill) have interceptions and the Longhorns have plenty of other playmakers up front like Trey Moore and David Gbenda. Mississippi State held its own at Texas for a half despite losing Blake Shapen the week before. Missouri had an off week before a crucial game vs. Texas A&M. Oklahoma found a quarterback in Michael Hawkins in a win at Auburn. South Carolina had a bye week and that win over Kentucky looks even better now. OU beat writers Ryan Aber and Colton Sulley recap the Sooners' win over Auburn on the road, Michael Hawkins' performance and the upcoming bye week.
After some brief introductory nonsense the guys jump into Michael Hawkins being named the starting QB for the Auburn game. How are we feeling four days removed from the Tennessee loss (2:05)? What do we make of rumors that Hawkins had been looking better than Arnold at practice for a while now (9:30)? Jacobe Johnson is being moved to WR. Lee thinks this could go somewhere while Grant thinks it's a joke (22:30). OU's injury list is ridiculous. So many key players are hurt (27:00). Lee has a theory about Brent Venables' latest midweek press conference when he spoke for 19 minutes at the start (32:10). Venables wanted to set the record straight on Dillon Gabriel's exit from OU (35:15). OU's slightly favored against Auburn. The Tigers are a good football team that has made way too many mistakes on offense. Lee has a theory on Auburn's offense (43:40). We thank the listeners who've left us 5-star podcast reviews in the past and recently (1:04:05). Florida is splitting time between DJ Lawgway and Graham Mertz, and Auburn (for different reasons) is doing the same between Hank Brown and Peyton Throrne. Meanwhile, Mississippi State (Blake Shapen, who is out for the year), South Carolina (LaNorris Sellers) and Texas A&M (Connor Weigman) have their starters missing time with injury and Oklahoma has benched Jackson Arnold for Michael Hawkins. Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview and share their predictions for Oklahoma's road trip to Auburn in Week 5 of the 2024 college football season. Topics include: There's quarterback instability at Auburn. Peyton Thorne was benched two games ago, but returned in relief last week against Arkansas after Hank Brown also had a problem throwing interceptions. Who'll start this week? There could be quarterback instability at Oklahoma, too. Jackson Arnold got benched during the Tennessee game after another slow start. Will it be Arnold or Michael Hawkins this week? The Sooners have been devastated by injuries along the offensive line and receiver, and now, star defender Kendal Dolby is also out. We'd bet you didn't know that Auburn ranks second in the SEC at 8.0 yards per play. The problems: The Tigers turn it over on 6.1% of offensive snaps (of which they average just 58 a game) and have accumulated a lot of those stats against two awful defenses (Alabama A&M, New Mexico). Oklahoma leads the country with 12 turnovers gained, and has a ball-hawking safety in Billy Bowman who can easily create scores for the defense. We give you reasons why each team could win. Topics include: Alabama's defense has been terrific inside the red zone and the Crimson Tide get a huge test Saturday with Georgia. Arkansas got an upset at Arkansas thanks to one huge Taylen Green play. Auburn has quarterback chaos on its hands as the Tigers can't stop turning the ball over. Florida looked good, especially at the quarterback spot, in a road win over Mississippi State. Georgia enjoyed a bye week before this week's game with Alabama. Kentucky got a productive game from Brock Vandagriff in a rout of Ohio. LSU lost Harold Perkins for the season but rode a good offensive game to beat UCLA. Ole Miss scored another big win a series of big wins against mediocre opponents with its win over Georgia Southern. Mississippi State lost its game with Florida and also lost quarterback Blake Shapen for the season. Missouri rode a big game from Nate Noel to a double overtime win over Vanderbilt. Oklahoma couldn't move the ball against Tennessee and benched Jackson Arnold for Michael Hawkins. South Carolina got a great game from quarterback Robby Ashford in a thrashing of Akron. Tennessee's defensive front destroyed Oklahoma as the Vols move into the discussion for the No. 1 overall team. Texas is No. 1 in the polls, are the Longhorns finally No. 1 here? It's all about extremes at OU. For several years we get to watch elite offense paired with truly terrible defense, and now we get to witness high level defense paired with truly terrible offense. Were there signs a season ago that Jackson Arnold would look this bad? How much longer does Brent Venables have at OU? When will Seth Littrell be fired? Hey, Michael Hawkins helped the offense show some signs of life, but what does that mean? Brandon and Parker discuss the Sooners' midgame quarterback switch in a 25-15 loss to Tennessee, and go into detail on just how long the swap from Jackson Arnold to Michael Hawkins had been percolating behind the scenes. If the first two games of the 2024 season are any indication, we should be preparing for a not very fun next three months of OU football. The guys go over the GOOD -- OU won the game, before spending almost the entire show on what was BAD -- which was pretty much all of it. The offense is terrible. Was Seth Littrell a bad hire? People are calling for Michael Hawkins to play. This team is undisciplined and was fortunate to escape Saturday with the victory. Brent Venables has a lot to account for as the Sooners welcome a really good Tulane team to Norman next week. After a bit of a preamble to set the table, the guys begin to talk about what Brent Venables said at his Monday presser. It sounds like the super fast, high up tempo Jeff Lebby speed offense may be a thing of the past (02:15). Tyler Keltner is going to get the first crack at kicking FGs and Lee was not thrilled with Venables explaining why Billy Bowman will be the one returning kicks (08:10). It sounds like Jayden Jackson is the real deal, but Grant continues to be concerned about this development. Venables also explained why Michael Hawkins is the backup quarterback instead of Casey Thompson (13:20). Finally, Venables had an intriguing comment about one of the true freshman players on offense (21:50). On to the Big Season Preview as we tell you all the questions about OU that we are most interested to get answered once real football is being played (25:00). We go over things that we are sure of about OU, that we hope to be proven wrong about in 2024 (42:20). We predict OU's final regular season record and explain how e got there (47:55). Grant was bored by the spring game while Lee explains why the spring game was pretty interesting to him (1:25). We get into the breakdown beginning with Jackson Arnold and his play (8:30). Lee wants to talk about Michael Hawkins because there was a spring narrative about him looking really good, yet we didn't see much evidence of that in the spring game (23:15). The offensive line with Jackson Arnold played really well. Overall we're encouraged by what we saw from the OL (25:35). Deion Burks was terrific, but no other pass catchers really stood out (33:20). Sawchuk, Hicks, and Franklin all looked good at running back. The room looks to be in better shape than last season. Have we seen the last of Jovantae Barnes in an OU uniform (43:30)? We switch over to the defense and begin with the defensive line. Lee liked a good amount of what he saw, while Grant is very skeptical of the interior part of the line. Can the Sooners pick up some of these big D-linemen in the portal (56:45)? Not much to say about the linebackers aside from Kobie McKinzie looked good. Grant is still high on Jaren Kanak. Was he at fault for the second Burks TD? Lee could not figure out what coverage OU was in on the two long TDs (1:08:00). Thoughts on the OU secondary. Lee thinks Dez Malone may be a starter at corner. Grant liked what he saw from RSJ, but overall the secondary was slightly disappointing (1:13:50). We read your "3 Word Reviews" from the WoE Facebook page (1:19:10). Final thoughts on who stood out on offense. Grant wants RPOs to be eliminated (1:23:15). Final thoughts on defensive standouts (1:29:50). The kicking game will continue to be a massive question mark. Are you interested in the Miami (OH) kicker in the portal? Plus we go over other final disappointing thoughts from the scrimmage (1:31:50). Shane Whitter and Justin Harrington recently entered the transfer portal (1:39:40). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets

No opening take today as the guys briefly talk about the sad state of affairs we are dealing with now that college football is over. Zac Alley has been officially announced as OU's new co-DC/LB coach (07:00). Trace Ford is coming back in 2024 (12:00). OU picks up TE Jake Roberts from Baylor and North Texas. Lee watched some of his tape and likes what he sees. Plus this could give OU an edge at recruiting Roberts' younger brother. OU's TE room is already much improved from 2023 (15:45). Casey Thompson is going to be OU's backup QB. Lee watched some Michael Hawkins highlights for the first time (27:00). The offensive line has been a popular topic of late. We go to the WoE Facebook page to read comments about the offensive line. Grant explains what he thinks may be the main gripe from those who are skeptical of OU's offensive line. Lee looks back at all the O-linemen who've been drafted since Bill Bedenbaugh's been at OU. We look ahead to 2024's o-line group (38:00). Will OU have a chance at any of the transfer players from Alabama and Washington? Grant calls Nick Saban's retirement an "earthquake" across college football. The guys agree Kalen DeBoer is an excellent hire for Alabama (1:01:30). Michigan wins the National Championship. Michael Penix did not play well. Grant's kind of jealous of Michigan fans. Why did OU always have to play awesome teams when the Sooners were vying for national titles? Was Washington's running back room somehow worse than OU's group (1:13:15)? Marcus Major is transferring to Minnesota. Will he do anything in the Twin Cities (1:34:25)? Lastly, the basketball team still can't win in Lawrence (1:38:30). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
