The Spiteri family are hospitality royalty. Between them they've shaped some of London's most beloved restaurants and pubs, from The French House and Rochelle Canteen to Caravel, Sessions Arts Club and Koya. The video reflects on the martyrdom of Protestant leaders under Queen Mary I, emphasizing that enduring suffering for faith requires a theology that embraces persecution as part of God's redemptive plan. Through the courageous deaths of Ridley and Latimer, and the eventual repentant confession of Cranmer, the message underscores that fear of God surpasses fear of death, and that true faith is revealed not in perfection but in final fidelity. The narrative illustrates how death clarifies eternal values, showing that one's legacy is defined not by past failures but by the integrity with which one ends. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to focus on what endures forever—faithfulness to Christ—reminding that even flawed individuals, when they persevere, become instruments of lasting spiritual light.
In this powerful episode, American Gladiator star Kailey Latimer (known as "Hurricane") and her husband, pro wrestler Tom Latimer, share their raw and inspiring testimony of how they went from the brutal world of professional wrestling and gladiator battles to surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ. From the bright lights of the arena to finding true peace and purpose, this couple opens up about their struggles, radical transformation, and what it really means to go from warriors in the ring to warriors for Christ.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 28, 2026) – When someone we care about is going through something painful, many of us struggle with the same question: What do I say? On this episode of Behind the Blue, Dr. Abbie Latimer, an assistant professor in the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, talks about hospice and palliative care, serious illness communication and how people can better support one another during difficult moments. Latimer also holds an affiliate appointment in the UK College of Medicine's Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Palliative and Supportive Care. Before joining the faculty, Latimer worked as a palliative care social worker with UK HealthCare, helping build the inpatient palliative care team and supporting patients, families and care teams through some of life's most difficult conversations. Her current work focuses on research and teaching around serious illness, moral distress, communication and psychosocial care. Latimer recently spoke at TEDxUKY, where she shared the story of a patient she called "Fred" and explored questions many people face when someone they care about is suffering: What do I say? Why do I sometimes pull away? And how do I find my way back to simply being present? In the conversation, Latimer explains the difference between hospice and palliative care and discusses the broad role social workers play in helping patients and their care systems, including family members, friends, clinicians and community support networks. She also describes why difficult emotions can cause people to reach for familiar phrases such as "hang in there," "stay positive" or "thoughts and prayers," even when those phrases may unintentionally create distance. Latimer encourages listeners to focus less on finding the perfect words and more on asking open, compassionate questions. Simple prompts such as "Is it okay if we talk about this?" or "What are you most worried about?" can open the door to deeper connection without placing pressure on either person to fix what cannot be fixed. The episode also explores how silence, presence and listening without an agenda can be meaningful forms of support. Latimer says sometimes the most helpful response is not a solution, but a willingness to sit with someone in the reality of what they are facing. Tracy Latimer was twelve years old and severely disabled. She had cerebral palsy, couldn't walk or talk, and lived in constant pain. On the morning of Sunday, October 24th, 1993, her mother, Laura, prepared to take the other children to church in Wilkie, Saskatchewan. Tracy's father, Robert, stayed behind on the farm with Tracy. What happened that morning would spark a national debate about euthanasia, mercy killing, and the rights of people with disabilities that would divide Canada for decades to come.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/morbidology--3527306/support.

What if the walls of your home… were slowly poisoning you? In this mind-blowing episode, Darin sits down with the founders of Alkemis to expose a hidden layer of modern toxicity most people never question: paint. While we obsess over clean food, skincare, and water, we're unknowingly living inside walls coated in petrochemical-derived materials that off-gas harmful compounds for years. From the shocking reality that architectural paint is the largest contributor of microplastics in our oceans to the hidden endocrine disruptors lurking even in "zero VOC" paints, this conversation pulls back the curtain on one of the most overlooked threats to human and environmental health—and introduces a radically different, nature-based solution. What You'll Learn Why most conventional paints are essentially liquid plastic on your walls The shocking truth: paint is the #1 source of microplastics in oceans How "zero VOC" paint can still contain toxic carcinogens and endocrine disruptors The concept of your home as your "second skin" How petrochemical paints impact fertility, hormones, and long-term health Why toxic exposure is a "death by a thousand cuts" rather than one cause The environmental lifecycle of paint—from extraction to disposal How mineral-based paints can sequester carbon and improve air quality The power of biophilic design and natural materials in your home Practical ways to reduce toxicity—even if you don't own your home Chapters 00:00:03 – Welcome to SuperLife and episode introduction 00:00:32 – Sponsor: Alkemis and indoor air toxicity 00:00:56 – The shocking truth about off-gassing paint 00:01:24 – Why conventional paint releases toxins for years 00:01:55 – PFAS, VOCs, and hidden chemical exposure in your home 00:02:26 – Cradle-to-Cradle certification and full lifecycle safety 00:03:24 – Introducing Maya Crown and Price Latimer 00:03:52 – The realization: we're living inside "liquid plastic" 00:04:02 – Paint as the largest source of microplastics 00:04:17 – The environmental impact no one talks about 00:05:16 – Origin stories: health, art, and conscious living 00:07:23 – The moment everything changed: questioning paint 00:08:17 – 95% of paint is petrochemical-based plastic 00:09:20 – Environmental toxins and rising health issues 00:10:14 – Ancient paints vs modern synthetic materials 00:11:25 – Reconnecting with nature and forgotten knowledge 00:14:09 – Your home as your "second skin" 00:16:01 – Environmental impact: microplastics from paint 00:16:40 – 1.9 million tons of paint entering oceans annually 00:17:23 – Why paint pollution never breaks down 00:20:35 – Hidden chemicals behind "zero VOC" labels 00:21:05 – Safety Data Sheets and what companies don't show you 00:23:42 – Health effects: hormones, fertility, endocrine disruption 00:26:49 – The reality: no single cause, cumulative exposure 00:28:16 – Why industries resist change 00:33:24 – The responsibility to educate and innovate 00:38:33 – Building a non-toxic alternative from scratch 00:41:38 – Mineral-based paints and breathable materials 00:43:41 – Carbon sequestration and air quality benefits 00:44:44 – Fire resistance and performance advantages 00:47:41 – What you can do right now to reduce exposure 00:48:27 – Why repainting your walls is a powerful first step 00:49:31 – Simple upgrades: air purifiers, natural materials 00:52:07 – Crystals, minerals, and the frequency of materials 00:54:14 – Why natural pigments feel different 00:56:27 – The microplastics realization hits hard 00:57:50 – Cost vs value: investing in long-term health 00:59:18 – Why this solution is more accessible than you think 01:00:21 – Industry awareness and the shift toward change 01:02:14 – Closing: creating a better future through conscious choices Thank You to Our Sponsors Alkemis: Go to https://alkemispaint.com/ and use code DARIN10 for 10% off your order. It's Thursday, October 16th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British Christian teacher fired for Facebook post about Islamic violence A British Christian teacher, who was unjustly fired, shared his testimony at a Reform UK party free speech conference last week. Simon Pearson had a 20-year unblemished teaching record. However, Preston College dismissed him last year for allegedly being “Islamaphobic.” He had simply expressed concern on Facebook over violent crime and political bias. Pearson is challenging his dismissal with the help of the Christian Legal Centre. Listen to his comments at the free speech conference. PEARSON: “Previously, I've worked as a missionary in a communist country where freedom of speech and religion are tightly controlled. I know what it means to live under a regime where truth is suppressed and conscience is punished. “I never imagined I would face similar pressures in the United Kingdom, a country built on the foundations of liberty, of justice and of Christian values. I'm fighting for justice, not just for myself, but for every teacher, for every Christian and every citizen who fears that their voice no longer matters and they are being silenced.” Young people of Northern Ireland more open to Christianity Speaking of the United Kingdom, young people in Northern Ireland are leading a revival of interest in Christianity, according to a poll by The Iona Institute. The survey found 18-24-year-olds in Northern Ireland are more likely to have a very positive attitude toward Christianity than any other age group. These findings are similar to studies of young people in Ireland, Britain, and the United States. Gen Z boys most likely to believe that Jesus is way to Heaven Here in America, the Barna Group released new research from its ongoing State of the Church initiative. Surveys show that Gen Z is increasingly open to Christian faith. However, among young people, women are the most likely to disengage from church, prayer, and belief. Meanwhile, young men and especially teenage boys are the least likely to identify as having no faith among young people. They are also the most likely to believe in God and that Jesus Christ is the only way to God. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Fewer young Americans identifying as “transgender” Here some more good news. Trans identification is declining among young people in America. Eric Kaufmann, a Canadian professor of politics, posted the findings on Tuesday. His analysis is based on multiple data sets, including those from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. The data shows 3.6% of undergraduates identify as a gender other than male or female. That's down from 5.2% in 2024 and 6.8% in 2022. The data sets also showed young people are becoming less likely to identify as something other than heterosexual. Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk Presidential Medal of Freedom President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday. Kirk's widow, Erika, received the nation's highest civilian medal on his behalf on what would have been his 32nd birthday. The ceremony comes about a month after the Christian activist was fatally shot while speaking at an event for his organization, Turning Point USA. Listen to comments from President Trump. TRUMP: “Charlie never missed an opportunity to remind us of the Judeo-Christian principles of our nation's founding or to share his deep Christian faith. In his final moments, Charlie testified to the greatness of America and to the glory of our Savior with Whom he now rests in Heaven. Anniversary of martyrdom of two English reformers And finally, today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of two English Reformers. Their names were Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley. Both were bishops in the Church of England. Ridley was born in 1502, becoming a great scholar and renouncing Roman Catholic doctrine. Latimer was born earlier in 1485. He became a great Reformation preacher, also rejecting Catholic traditions. His preaching brought Protestant teachings effectively to the middle and lower classes. However, a Catholic queen came to power in England in 1553. She was known as “Bloody Mary” for her deadly persecution of Protestants. After her ascension to power, Latimer and Ridley were tried for their beliefs and burned at the stake on October 16, 1555. As they faced death together, Latimer told his friend, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.” In Romans 8:36-37, the Apostle Paul wrote, “As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, October 16th, in the year of our Lord 2025, the 60th wedding anniversary of my parents, Mike and Harriet McManus, with whom I will celebrate this very weekend. In this conversation, we explore the challenges of building more inclusive AI systems with John Pasmore, founder and CEO of Latimer AI and advisor to the Artificiality Institute. Latimer represents a fundamentally different approach to large language models—one built from the ground up to address the systematic gaps in how AI systems represent Black and Brown cultures, histories, and perspectives that have been largely absent from mainstream training data.John brings a practical founder's perspective to questions that often remain abstract in AI discourse. With over 400 educational institutions now using Latimer, he's witnessing firsthand how students, faculty, and administrators are navigating the integration of AI into learning—from universities licensing 40+ different LLMs to schools still grappling with whether AI represents a cheating risk or a pedagogical opportunity.Key themes we explore:The Data Gap: Why mainstream LLMs reflect a narrow "Western culture bias" and what's missing when AI claims to "know everything"—from 15 million unscanned pages in Howard University's library to oral traditions across thousands of indigenous tribes.Critical Thinking vs. Convenience: How universities are struggling to preserve deep learning and intellectual rigor when AI makes it trivially easy to get instant answers, and whether requiring students to bring their prompts to class represents a viable path forward. The GPS Analogy: John's insight that AI's effect on cognitive skills mirrors what happened with navigation—we've gained efficiency but lost the embodied knowledge that comes from building mental maps through direct experience.Multiple Models, Multiple Perspectives: Why the future likely involves domain-specific and culturally-situated LLMs rather than a single "universal" system, and how this parallels the reality that different cultures tell different stories about the same events.Excavating Hidden Knowledge: Latimer's ambitious project to digitize and make accessible vast archives of cultural material—from church records to small museum collections—that never made it onto the internet and therefore don't exist in mainstream AI systems. An eBay for Data: John's vision for creating a marketplace where content owners can license their data to AI companies, establishing both proper compensation and a mechanism for filling the systematic gaps in training corpora. The conversation shows that AI bias goes beyond removing offensive outputs. We need to rethink which data sources we treat as authoritative and whose perspectives shape these influential systems. When AI presents itself as an oracle that has "read everything on the internet," it claims omniscience while excluding vast amounts of human knowledge and experience. The discussion raises questions about expertise and process in an era of instant answers—in debugging code, navigating cities, or writing essays. John notes that we may be "working against evolution" by preserving slower, more effortful learning when our brains naturally seek efficiency. But what do we lose when we eliminate the struggle that builds deeper understanding?About John Pasmore: John Pasmore is founder and CEO of Latimer AI, a large language model built to provide accurate historical information and bias-free interaction for Black and Brown audiences and anyone who values precision in their data. Previously a partner at TRS Capital and Movita Organics, John serves on the Board of Directors of Outward Bound USA and holds degrees in Business Administration from SUNY and Computer Science from Columbia University. He is also an advisor to the Artificiality Institute.

In this tale, we were introduced to Sherlock's elder brother, Mycroft—whose deductive gifts may surpass even Sherlock's, though he lacks the drive to apply them in the field. Mycroft brings Holmes into the confidence of his neighbor, Mr. Melas, a professional interpreter who recently endured a disturbing ordeal. Melas was hired under mysterious circumstances, blindfolded, and taken by cab to an unknown house, where he was compelled to translate under threats from a ruffian named Latimer. We rejoin the story as Melas recounts to Holmes what he observed inside the house, despite the attempts to conceal its location. — read by 'N' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus!

Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that still pledges allegiance to Heda Lexa. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) hangs out solo with Regan Latimer (@thereganlatimer), director of the documentary Bulletproof: A Lesbian's Guide to Surviving the Plot (@bulletproofdoc). We've talked a lot on this podcast about the longstanding BYG (bury your gays) trope in media and the “cancel your gays” version of today. The absolute slaughter of 2016 is what ultimately led us down the path of creating our own queer musicals with guaranteed happy endings and zero dead gays. Regan was inspired in a similar way, after one straw too many– the brutal killing of Denise on The Walking Dead. She decided to turn that outrage and pain into fuel for exploring the BYG trope, learning why these plot decisions are made, and even exploring the psychology behind why lesbian character deaths impact LGBTQ+ viewers so strongly. For Bulletproof, Regan spoke with filmmakers, screenwriters, passionate fans, showrunners, and television industry professionals about their experiences and perceptions on lesbian representation in the media. They wanted to look not only at where representation stands now, but at where it started and where it may be headed. When the pendulum for LGBTQ+ rights and societal acceptance swings in either direction, the media landscape reflects those changes. The few positive examples of queer representation we have on screen right now are as a result of projects greenlit before the pendulum began its broad backswing. Regan reminds us to enjoy the representation we have right now, to cherish the precious happy moments of Ellie and Dina while we still can. After all, the pendulum swings as society does; and we are at a particularly scary time for queer rights and acceptance, especially here in the United States. The real worry is about what types of projects may be getting greenlit right now, whose voices and stories are allowed to be told and amplified, and whether that push we saw after 2016 for more diversity in writer's rooms continues or is abandoned. We're already seeing more and more shows with prominent queer characters get unceremoniously cancelled– but it is not all doom and gloom. Even with queer rights and representation sliding backward, there remains more lesbian representation than we ever had growing up. With any luck, younger gays will never have to know what its like to not see themselves on their screens, even if the only representation left is, to Regan's dismay and Leigh's chaotic delight, problematic queer people on reality television shows.
