The ESG Now podcast has quickly become one of my favorite sources for ESG news and insights. I have been a devoted listener for over two years now, and I continue to be impressed by the high-quality production and interesting content that is consistently delivered. One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to present complex and detailed information in an easily digestible manner. The hosts have a relaxed style and incorporate touches of humor, making it an entertaining "travelling" podcast that keeps me engaged throughout. Additionally, the podcast often features experts who provide valuable perspectives on developments in the finance and corporate world, offering insights into how these impact our daily lives. Overall, I truly enjoy listening to The ESG Now podcast and hope they continue to produce such great content.
While The ESG Now podcast has many positive aspects, there are a few areas that could be improved upon. One such aspect is the lack of representation from managers and non-profits discussing their engagement with companies on ESG topics. It would be interesting to hear more from these stakeholders on their experiences and perspectives within the field of ESG investing and ratings. Additionally, while the podcast generally succeeds in presenting material in an engaging manner, there may still be times where certain topics come across as dry or overly technical. Addressing these moments by finding creative ways to make them more accessible to a broader audience would further enhance the overall listening experience.
In conclusion, The ESG Now podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in ESG and capital markets. Its well-produced episodes provide comprehensive insight into methodologies and thinking behind ESG investing and ratings, all presented in an engaging manner that is accessible even for laypeople. They are certainly important in this day and age, especially as once-in-a-lifetime destructive events seem to be becoming the norm. That's why we decided to do an episode demystifying the whole process of climate scenario analysis. Luckily, our guest today, James Edwards, along with his co-authors, Nathan Faigle and Wenmin Li, wrote a practical guide on the topic called How can I use climate scenarios? VW announced it would shut at least three of its German plants, axe tens of thousands of jobs and slash pay by 10%. This is notable because VW is the powerhouse of Germany which typically has been the EU's industrial engine – meaning jobs, meaning unions, meaning political might. But this is more than a VW story. It is a story story of how the energy transition – the transition from pollutive to non-pollutive forms of economic operations – is upending the global order of established industries. It is the story of the hard tradeoffs we have to make in our effort to cut carbon emissions. In this episode we explore that new world and what it means for the auto industry; an industry many countries and states rely on for their economic driver.Host: Mike Disabato, MSCI ESG ResearchGuest: Yu Ishihara, MSCI ESG Research
