Hosted by broadcaster Shane Bacon and PGA Tour pro Max Homa, Get a Grip is a golf-centric podcast making light of a rather stuffy sport with legitimate insight into the game. It’s essentially the public golf course of podcasts. The show will offer a look into the PGA Tour from a guy between the ropes week in and week out and have some fun at both his peers and golf fans’ expenses.

    Ivy Insights

The Get a Grip with Max Homa & Shane Bacon podcast is an absolute joy to listen to. From the very first episode, I was hooked and couldn't get enough of the witty banter and insightful conversations between Max and Shane. They bring a refreshing "regular guy" outlook to the podcast, making it relatable and enjoyable for listeners. The chemistry between Max and Shane is evident, and their friendship shines through in every episode.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is that it offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at professional golf. As someone who loves the sport but doesn't have much knowledge about what goes on behind closed doors, I appreciate the candidness with which Max discusses his experiences as a pro golfer. He provides valuable insights into what it's like to compete at such a high level, sharing both his successes and failures.

Another standout aspect of this podcast is Shane's interviewing skills. He does an excellent job of asking thought-provoking questions that elicit in-depth responses from Max. It's clear that he truly cares about getting to the heart of each topic they discuss, whether it's about golf or other aspects of life. Shane keeps the conversation flowing smoothly while also injecting humor into the mix.

If there is one downside to this podcast, it would be that sometimes the questions posed by Shane can be a bit soft. While I appreciate that they keep things light-hearted and entertaining, there are moments where I wish they would dig deeper into certain topics. However, this is merely a minor critique in an otherwise outstanding podcast.

In conclusion, The Get a Grip with Max Homa & Shane Bacon podcast is an absolute must-listen for any golf fan or sports enthusiast. The combination of Max's genuine insights into professional golf and Shane's expert interviewing skills creates an engaging and entertaining experience for listeners. I highly recommend giving this podcast a listen - you won't be disappointed!

Get a Grip started as a collab between two golf people who live and consume golf in totally different ways. The idea was to have someone from the media (Shane Bacon) and someone on Tour (Max Homa) cohost a podcast together. We are getting back to exactly that with the reintroduction of Get a Grip! Partnered with Fried Egg Golf, Get a Grip will continue to match media and a pro together on the mic. The first mini-season of Get a Grip will star Shane and the clever Andrew Putnam wading into the podcast space, with the Pinehurst Resort as the title sponsor. A great return to how the podcast began!

You may be asking, what is a flusher? In terms of golf, it's near the top in terms of a compliment, meaning you can do things to a golf ball that even your peers aren't capable of doing. A flusher is someone that makes that whizz sound with their irons and can move a 3-wood in any direction with any trajectory.  The Fried Egg's Andy Johnson joined Shane to rank the top 10 best flushers of the last 23 years in men's golf, and while the lists have some overlap, there are some names that you didn't expect to hear get thrown around on this episode. A lot of fun talking of generational ball-strikers, and a big thanks to Andy for joining the program.  For those wanting to try Shane's coffee collab with Good Walk Coffee Company, here is the link: https://goodwalkcoffee.com/bacon And to get a copy of The Golfer's Zoo (signed options available), click here: https://www.back9press.com/baconSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
