High expectations are non-negotiable—and the team rises to meet them. ✅ Facilities Reflect Values – From the $80M clubhouse to a new state-of-the-art maintenance facility, the club's investment in infrastructure is also an investment in people. ✅ Hire for Passion, Not Just Skill – Phil no longer hires out of desperation. MLB – Major League Baseball Last Night Oakland A’s 1, Detroit Tigers 0 – 10 Innings Chicago Cubs 7, Milwaukee Brewers 6 – 11 Innings Toronto Blue Jays 4, Chicago White Sox 3 Athletics 1, Tigers 0 – F/10 – Noda’s RBI single in the 10th carries the Athletics to a 1-0 win over the Tigers Ryan Noda had an RBI single in the 10th inning as the MLB-worst Oakland Athletics edged the Detroit Tigers 1-0 Tuesday night after being no-hit into the seventh inning. Jace Peterson bunted pinch-runner Tyler Wade to third to start the 10th. Tyler Horton (0-1) struck out Shea Langeliers for the second out before Noda slapped a single to left — one of just two hits for Oakland in the game — to break the scoreless struggle. Shintaro Fujinami (5-7) got the win after striking out the side in the ninth. Trevor May pitched a scoreless 10th for his sixth save. Cubs 7, Brewers 6 – F/11 – Happ saves Cubs with 2 late throws to plate in wild 7-6 win over Brewers in 11 Left fielder Ian Happ threw out two runners at the plate in extra innings, and the Chicago Cubs pulled out a wild 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in 11 innings after squandering a late lead for the second consecutive game. Dansby Swanson homered and Miguel Amaya hit a two-run double to help the Cubs build a 6-2 cushion. But the Brewers scored twice in the eighth and twice more in the ninth to tie it. Happ cut down the potential winning run at home in the bottom of the 10th, and Chicago went ahead in the 11th when Cody Bellinger scored on Nico Hoerner’s infield single. Happ then threw out Owen Miller at the plate to end the game. Blue Jays 4, White Sox 3 – Guerrero Jr. hits 2-run homer in 8th inning to lift Blue Jays to 4-3 win over White Sox Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3. Guerrero gave Toronto a 4-3 lead when he connected against Joe Kelly (1-4) after Brandon Belt led off the eighth with a walk. The three-time All-Star went the opposite way on a 2-1 pitch, driving it out to right for his 13th home run. All-Star Whit Merrifield had two hits and two RBIs, and the Blue Jays got back to winning coming off a three-game sweep by Boston. White Sox All-Star Luis Robert Jr. made it 3-2 in the sixth with a long three-run drive against Chris Bassitt for his 25th homer. But Chicago lost again after dropping two of three at struggling Oakland. The Cubs blew a late four-run lead but rebounded to beat the Brewers 7-6 in 11 innings. Ross praised his team’s resiliency, but many of his postgame comments focused on a series of “frustrating” calls and events throughout the game. Ross was perturbed that plate umpire Erich Bacchus prematurely called out Dansby Swanson when there were only two strikes, and he felt a Brewers baserunner interfered with a throw that allowed a run to score. Ross and first base coach Mike Napoli were both ejected. Ross also questioned why the Brewers closed their retractable roof on a mostly sunny afternoon. MLB – Ohtani leaves Angels game with blister, says he doesn’t plan to pitch in ASG Shohei Ohtani says he’s not planning to pitch in the All-Star Game next week after leaving the Los Angeles Angels’ 8-5 loss to the San Diego Padres with a blister on the middle finger of his right hand Tuesday. The two-way superstar could still play a significant role if he remains the starting designated hitter for the American League in Seattle. Ohtani exited on the mound against the Padres after giving up consecutive home runs in the sixth inning. The right-hander’s start had been pushed back a day due to a cracked fingernail. His velocity was down, and he left trailing 5-1. His exit came several hours after the Angels learned they’ll be without fellow All-Star slugger Mike Trout for several weeks because of a broken left wrist.  Trout will need surgery to repair his injury. Bobby takes us back to his 1964 PGA Championship at Columbus CC where he played the final round with Ben Hogan and secured a wire-to-wire win, setting a scoring record that was to stand for thirty years. He gratefully remembers his relationship with Firestone CC as their Head Professional and remembers winning the 1964 Carling World Open at Oakland Hills over Arnold Palmer, again playing with Ben Hogan who was quoted as saying "you ought to pay me to play with you!" Bruce enjoys reminding Bobby of the drubbing Bruce and Bob Charles put on Bobby and Tony Lema in the 1964 CBS Golf Classic but Bobby turns the tables reminding Bruce of his win the following year at the Houston Classic by 1 over Bruce and Chi Chi Rodriguez. 2-time U.S. Open Champion Andy North wins the 1985 event at Oakland Hills when T.C. Chen, leading by four strokes at the time,  famously two-chipped his way to a quadruple bogey on the 5th hole of the final round.  Often lost in the story is the albatross he made in the first round at the second hole. We talk about it here, "FORE the Good of the Game."

This Wednesday episode begins with troubled times on Westy Island, where things may need to be on an official pause due to some disconcerting Twitter activity. Then it's on to the cancellation, or purported cancellation, of Phil Mickelson, most recently out of the Masters, where he's played for almost 30 consecutive years. Andy and Brendan discuss Phil's forgotten betrayal that keeps getting lost in all the shouting about political correctness and cancellations, with an unexpected comp to the movie The Rock. The shhhedule for the week begins with the WGC Match Play, with some praise and critiques for the current format and schedule. There's a breakdown of pools where beef and tension could bubble to the surface, and reaction to the Thicc Boi staying in the field with his broken hamate and torn labrum. News closes with the announcement that Oakland Hills will be firmly back hosting a bevy of USGA championships for the next 30 years.
