(00:00-21:45) So long wild card, you were always a fickle mistress. Martin's new talking point. Are the Cardinals gonna try and spin this season? What's the story with Jackson's mustache? You ever play tuck? Nice. Effing. System. All hail The Big Dumper. Rotund backsides. Nice tease, Tim.(21:53-40:34) Goodbye Horses. Re-watching "the tuck scene." You don't know what pain is. Per the Post-Dispatch, Sonny Gray says he would consider waiving his no-trade clause for next season. Gonna need some arms in the rotation if he goes. How this team rebuilds under the new regime. Walker & Gorman have set the club back. Stop the whining and bitching, there's football now.(40:44-57:25) Heather Graham's one-piece. Roller skates. 7 inch lifts in today. Jaxson Dart gets the Giants' start, and Boomer says the rookie pressure is real — but he loves Dart's attitude. Jerry's update kicks off with Ian Poulter ripping U.S. golf fans, then Mets heroics from Nimmo and Alvarez, and the Yankees clinching a playoff spot. The Guardians leap the Tigers and a caller wonders if Indy will pay Daniel Jones.
Hour 1 We started with a great night of baseball for the locals, with the Yankees clinching a playoff spot and the Mets coming back to beat the Cubs. It felt like a special night for the Mets. And where is Keith Hernandez? Is he sick? Jaxson Dart is starting for the Giants this weekend at home against the Chargers. Even though Russell Wilson had a great game against Dallas, he threw terrible interceptions last week. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the White Sox and clinching a playoff spot. We heard the sounds of Howie Rose as the Mets came back to beat the Cubs as Brandon Nimmo had a 3-run game tying HR. Francisco Alvarez homered in the eighth which ended up being the game winner. Al actually had a new song about Jaxson Dart. Mike ‘I'm a man, I'm 40' Gundy was fired by Oklahoma State. In the final segment of the hour, WFAN producer Brian Rascona told Gio that Ken Griffey Jr was walking around the Ryder Cup and nobody seemed to notice him. Hour 2 Jaxson Dart is getting the start for the Giants this week. Nobody really talks about the pressure a quarterback faces in their first real NFL game. Boomer brings it up, but you don't hear many other people talk about it. It's different from the pre-season. Boomer likes Dart's attitude compared to some of the other rookie QBs that came to the Jets and Giants. Jerry returns for an update, but first Gio wonders if the teams being bused back and forth for the Ryder Cup are listening to the show. Jerry starts with Ian Poulter criticizing American golf fans. Brandon Nimmo hit a game tying 3-run homer as the Mets beat the Cubs. Francisco Alvarez ended up hitting what ended up being the game winning HR. The Yankees beat the White Sox and clinched a playoff spot. The Guardians have overtaken the Tigers and former WFAN Adam ‘The Bull' was so excited he made a weird noise. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders if Daniel Jones will get a big contract in Indianapolis (he will hang up and listen). Hour 3 We started the hour with the Jets as they play in Miami on Monday night. One of these teams is going to be 0-4. There is pressure on Mike McDaniel and Tua. In 2 of the 3 games, the Jets were very competitive. A caller wonders why the Giants even brought Russell Wilson in if they had already signed Jameis Winston. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Howie Rose and the sounds of the Mets beating the Cubs to get back in charge of their own destiny. Brandon Nimmo hit a game tying HR and Francisco Alvarez hit the eventual game winning HR. Jerry compares ‘douche bag says what' from the 1990s to ‘Boomer will cream pie me' from this morning. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Gary Cohen's comments last night about a Cubs player missing a game to attend Charlie Kirk's memorial service. We continued arguing about the phrase, ‘control your own destiny'. Hour 4 Nicole Rae from Skratch Golf is in the studio to talk about the Ryder Cup. They hosted us for our trip to Pebble Beach as well. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first Gio gives us alcohol prices for drinks at the Ryder Cup. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the White Sox as Caballero had a walk off single. We heard Howie Rose on the call as Francisco Alvarez homered making it 9-7 Mets. Micah Parsons was asked how it will feel when he sacks Dak this weekend. The Moment of The Day: Al has a new song, reminding Gio of marriage. In the final segment of the show, WFAN producer Brian Rascona checks in from the Ryder Cup.
Host Gary Williams led this two hour show previewing the Ryder Cup with guests Ian Poulter, Jim "Bones" Mackay, Brendon de Jonge, Keith Stewart, Rob Lee and Gabby Herzig. We touched on the main story lines, the big players, the possible match-ups, the home field of Bethpage Black and more.

Keegan Bradley is making sure Team USA doesn't repeat the costly Ryder Cup mistake that's haunted them in the past with a bold move that could be the game-changer they need to take back the Cup. In this episode of The Golf Podcast we break down how Keegan Bradley is rewriting the Ryder Cup 2025 playbook at Bethpage Black. After Team USA was criticized in Rome for their “disgraceful preparation” and taking five weeks of rest before the matches, Bradley is making sure history doesn't repeat itself. He's sending nearly the entire U.S. Ryder Cup team to compete in the Procore Championship to stay sharp and avoid the dreaded rust versus rest debate. On top of that, the team has rented a massive team house in Napa with a dedicated Ryder Cup–style team room designed to build camaraderie, chemistry, and unity ahead of one of the most hostile Ryder Cup environments ever. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy and Team Europe arrive with momentum, depth, and experience, calling themselves more accomplished than the group that won in 2023. With legends like Ian Poulter urging them to embrace the “cauldron” of the New York crowd, Europe is ready for the challenge. We dive into whether Bradley's bold strategy of playing the Procore, building team chemistry, and keeping players in form could finally give Team USA the edge they need to win back the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Our final special of the summer sees us back at JCB Golf & Country Club to give all of the major equipment manufacturers a summer school report after a very busy year of releases. Those who have been listening since the very early days will remember we did this last year, and it was relatively successful, so we're wheeling it out again. Every brand, graded. It's as simple as that. Any disagreements with us, make sure to get in touch, and we'll be sure to debrief on your reactions when we're back in the studio next week. It's our birthday! Who'd have thought we'd have made it this far?! To celebrate, we're bringing to you what we have considered our most enjoyable interview to date with former Premier League and England footballer turned golf YouTuber Jimmy Bullard. Jimmy has never hidden the fact that he's a huge equipment geek, so we were very excited to have him on the show. Sat in the gardens of the Manor House is Castle Coombe, Joe and Jimmy cover everything from tapering on grips, swing weight vs total weight, Jimmy's club building cave and their theories behind why the Qi10 fairway wood has been so popular. But, before all of that, and to celebrate our first year, we take a trip down memory lane and highlight some of our favourite moments of the first year of Kick Point. You'll be hearing once again from the likes of Richard Bland, Ian Poulter and Wendy, while we also couldn't miss the chance to relive Joe's recent interactions with Bryson DeChambeau, either. If you're new here, welcome, and hopefully, these clips inspire you to head back into the archive. If you've been here since day one, a massive thank you from Dan, Joe and the team for supporting us in our first year! Here's to an even bigger and better year two! 6-time Ryder Cup player Padraig Harrington recalls the preparation required to position himself to contend and ultimately win major championships. Much of this episode is devoted to Padraig recounting his three major championships that came in quick succession beginning with the 2007 Open Championship at Carnoustie where he changed drivers after 36 holes and prevailed over Sergio Garcia in a 4-hole playoff. Padraig came into the 2008 Open Championship at Birkdale with a wrist injury and he didn't hit a full shot that week until the first round. It turned out to be a comfortable 4-stroke win over Ian Poulter. It was at the 2008 PGA Championship at Oakland Hills where he barely made the cut before firing rounds of 66-66 on the weekend to best Garcia and Ben Curtis by two shots. It's a beefy Friday episode, as Brendan is joined by Mr. Tron Carter of No Laying Up to discuss topics from across the world of sports. The show begins with Brendan picking Ball Knower Tron's brain about his various football teams, with the two going back and forth about the state of the Falcons, Jaguars, Commanders, and Boston College, before transitioning into a discussion about the potential for private equity to invest in college football like it has with golf. This then leads the two to the big golf news of the week, Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan's pairing at the Dunhill Links. Brendan and Tron recap Thursday's round for the two, Rory McIlroy's comments about a PGA Tour-PIF deal being wrapped up by year's end, and Matt Fitzpatrick's quotes about his belief that the DP World Tour should not have strategically partnered with the PGA Tour. With plenty of LIV players in the field at the Dunhill, Brendan then presents Patrick Reed's latest musings, a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that Reed believes describes himself. From there, it's a whiparound through the rest of the schedule, touching on 71-year-old Reed Hughes' participation in the Sanderson, the Thursday round of the KFT Finals, and Tron's apathy toward the Champs Tour, much to the dismay of Producer PJ. To wrap things up, Brendan and Tron get into some unsubstantiated rumors before answering a few Golf Advice emails, offering help on "golf penance," a round with Ian Poulter, and some parenting issues.

Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network/Michigan Golf Live Podcast Ep 421 - Golf Wars - LIV Golf's Bitter Battle For Power We're talking with Iain Carter about his new book, Golf Wars and the turbulent world of professional golf. The battle for the future of professional golf has been blazing. The Saudi-backed organisation LIV Golf has struck at the very heart of the golfing establishment, setting up rival tournaments with enormous prize pots and pitting the game's most famous players against each other. Led by legend Greg Norman, it has enticed the likes of Sergio García, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Jon Rahm, parking its tanks on the manicured greens of the traditional game. Its tagline: Golf but louder. With LIV now in its season and little sign of the struggle abating, BBC Golf Correspondent Iain Carter delivers the fascinating – and ongoing – account of a sporting upheaval. Golf Wars spotlights the key players, both on the course and in the boardroom, exploring how the PGA Tour and other traditional organisations are fighting back. Carter covers every twist and turn, hearing from influential figures including Rory McIlroy, Jay Monahan, Greg Norman, Keith Pelley and Tiger Woods. Through expert and up-to-date analysis of all sides of this bitter conflict, Carter reveals how the saga is unfolding and what it means for golf's future. Has the controversial Saudi Arabian state essentially bought the game? Is LIV just a sportwashing series of glitzy exhibition tournaments? Or is it a welcome challenge to the golfing hegemony and a long-awaited refresh of tired traditions? This epic tale of fierce internal warfare has shaken golf to its core and marks a seminal moment in sporting history. Andrew ‘Chubby' Chandler represented Rory Mcllroy the former World No.1 for 24 years before they went their separate ways in 2017. The CEO of International Sports Management told The Mirror(opens in new tab) that for the likes of Westwood, the move to the big-money venture came as no surprise. He said: “Not at all. And not at all for anybody over 40. For Sergio [Garcia], [Ian] Poulter it was obvious, [Henrik] Stenson, Richard Bland, all these guys there was no doubt that this was a wonderful carrot for them and to get in at the beginning.” Between starting his career in golf and meeting great people along the way Chubby was meant to be negotiating contracts for other golfers as he did his entire life for himself. With Netflix's "Full Swing" officially out, Shane and Golf.com's Claire Rogers take on the start of the LIV discussion with the series. Ian Poulter is the focus of this episode, so the two break down their thoughts on Poulter, him as a dad, the moment it appeared he would be joining LIV, and plenty more. After that, Claire and Shane dive into segments, giving out the winner and loser of the episode. All "Full Swing Tonight" episodes will also be on YouTube, so make sure to check the Skratch page to get enhanced recaps of each episode with video elements, highlights from the year, and many more! The fifth installment of our limited-run podcast series recapping Full Swing, the new Netflix show, tackles the Matt Fitzpatrick and Dustin Johnson episode. Hosts Shane Ryan, Sam Weinman, and Alex Myers note that just like with Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler in Episode 2, the show's producers opted to emphasize a contrast. Here it was between the overachieving Fitzpatrick and the naturally gifted Johnson, with a little bit of LIV Golf tension mixed in as well. While neither personality was as engaging as Joel Dahmen or Ian Poulter, we agreed this was still a well-crafted episode, and had the added benefit of following Fitzpatrick through the closing stages of his triumph at the U.S. Open at the Country Club.Check out Shane's recap of the episode here.
The next installment of our limited-run podcast series recapping Netflix's Full Swing reflects on the value of personality, and how the show's third episode featuring Ian Poulter stood apart from the previous two for that reason. Whereas earlier episodes had bigger names in Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, hosts Shane Ryan, Sam Weinman, and Alex Myers argue that devoting an entire episode to the charismatic Poulter was a smart decision. We break down Poulter's struggle to remain relevant, and why his decision to join LIV Golf was at least given the necessary context. We also discuss the show's unique structure, one in which producers opted against a straight chronology in favor of jumping around to different points of the season.Check out Shane's recap of the episode here.
This episode discusses the first real time the show starts to wrestle with the LIV disruption, through the eyes and decision of Ian Poulter. One host, however, argues the episode is an “F” and a “disaster” while the others try to convey what they found useful and what fell flat. This Wednesday episode is a rapid-fire unstructured discussion that begins with the schedule for the week, which quickly transitions into Ian Poulter's latest comments from the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The field is a mixture of DP World Tour players and the fellas from LIV, which reports indicated was closing in on a TV deal with the CW network. They discuss this and find a random list of the 20 worst channels on cable and boy does that take a sudden turn. The strong field at the AmEx is pondered before some one-and-done picks are made. News hits on a stunner joining the Ryder Cup assistant captains ranks for Rome and Nelly Korda making the jump to a new equipment and apparel provider. Learn more about your ad choices. We are hosting a scramble during Waste Management week. Netflix drops a trailer for their new series, “Full Swing.” TaylorMade drops the Stealth 2, and Tiger crushed his review. Ian Poulter is mad online about birthday wishes. A group of athletes (including Islanders captain Anders Lee) are buying farms in Iowa. Jon Rahm would be a plus-13 (!!) handicap right now. Does anyone still read newspapers? And much more. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Prime Members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. The last men's major of the year, the 150th Open, was also a celebration of the game's history. It's also where LIV's Ian Poulter got booed on the first tee. It's also where one unnamed LIV player, who we name in this episode now, furiously cursed out a reporter for asking about OWGR dangers. This part of the Year in Review covers The Open in detail, and then gets to some amusing Scott Piercy developments at TPC Sod Farm and a spate of LIV typos in graphics, like “Louise” Oosthuizen. This is the usual SGS approach to the year in review, focusing more on the amusing, inane, and extraordinary and it will continue to roll out over the next couple weeks in multiple parts to be enjoyed at your convenience during the holiday season.
At this past week's BMW PGA Championship, multiple players who have signed with LIV Golf aired their grievances about the direction of the DP World Tour, formerly know as the European Tour. Ian Poulter, Sergio García, and other Euro vets feel that the proud, historic tour has become a mere "feeder tour," and that DPWT CEO Keith Pelley's negotiation of a "strategic alliance" with the PGA Tour is significantly to blame. They might have a point. Andy Johnson and Garrett Morrison discuss the recent history of the European Tour, the decisions that led to its current status, how it should position itself in the new world order of professional golf, and whether it has any hope of returning to its former glory.
Bob Harig of Sports Illustrated joins Takeline to unpack the awkward appeal of LIV Golf, Ian Poulter's 160-foot putt, Rory's duel with Cameron Smith and Tiger Woods' long walk off The Open. Then, Penn State law professor William E. Butler explains Brittney Griner's recent acknowledgement of guilt, Russia's narcotic substance punishments, “prisoner swaps,” and the likelihood of an acquittal.
It's Saturday night in St. Andrews and Andy and Brendan recap just about a perfect day both in town and out on the golf course. They discuss the crowd imploring Rory along, Cam Smith's disappointment, the course setup that had Matt Fitzpatrick saying things were “tricked up,” and Viktor Hovland's challenge. They also hit on an Andy tussling with Ian Poulter on the press conference transcript, and the confusion that followed. Talor vs. Tyrell is reviewed, Graeme McDowell's idiotic tweet about shotgun starts at St. Andrews is covered, and there's a theory about seagulls impacting play. They close with some contender vs. pretender and how it's all right there for Rory.
