Welcome to another feedback pod, these are the episode where you control the topics and we read out your questions and feedback (good and bad)!We start with a chat about Mark's comments last week that the Rory shot on 5 was the greatest shot ever made. Some wolfpackers have a different view - we won't read them out today, but we'll wait until Nick is back in the studio next week (he's in Cathedral for the school holidays) and we will do a bonus pod on 'the greatest shot ever made in golf'. Fun.Mark has sent in a pic of a 59 shot by Elvis Smylie at Southport on the Gold Coast, and would like Mark Allen to rate it. Mark does, and is brutal.Sam's home course has fast greens and he struggles when he plays a course with slow greens...and asks for some tips.Dale has written in with some 'useless information' (his words not ours) and both pieces are very good. One of Dale's points leads to a chat about young gun Jeffrey Guan and how he is going.Voicemail sound goes off, and it's a question from wolfpacker Fraser who played golf as a kid, went away, is back now and looking for some tips on how to improve.Laurie from Indonesia has a comment and question about Justin Rose at The Masters.Phil has a question about Max Homa and which of all his changes recently has had the most influence.A lovely message from wolfpacker Niall from Ireland who likes the 'bluntness' that Nick and Mark have when discussing issues. And finally a comment from Wayne who feels that some of the big names in world golf are off their game during the first couple of months of 2025.Mark asks Nick if he feels, as contracts come to an end, that any LIV players will want to come back to the PGA, and if he feels any big names from the PGA will leave for LIV.Keep the questions coming, and remember if you want any feedback on your swing, putting, chipping - anything - send us a video and we'll have a look at it on the show.We do the show from Titleist and FootJoy HQ (except when Nick is in Cathedral) thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. Rory McIlroy turned in one of the wildest Sunday rounds in the history of the Masters en route to winning the 89th playing of the Masters and completing the career Grand Slam. Holding a two shot lead heading into the final round, McIlroy started the day with a double bogey on the first hole and lost his lead to Bryson Dechambeau. The rollercoaster round continued all day for Rory McIlroy until the final hole where he missed a short putt for the win. Justin Rose made 10 birdies on his way to also finishing -11 and tied for the lead. On the first playoff hole, McIlroy stuffed a wedge in tight to make birdie and take home the Green Jacket. It was a wild Masters Tournament with Bryson Dechambeau playing well until Sunday when his iron play went off the rails on his way to a 75. Max Homa made his first cut in nearly 9 months and 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed made an appearance on the leader board with a 3rd place finish. It was a hell of a performance from our relief pitcher (and equipment expert) Sam De'Ath, but he exits stage left to a rapturous reception as Joe retakes his throne on the Kick Point set this week. Not only is he back, but he's also providing a hot take about caddies - 'Why do we have them?'. Given that a few members of the Golf Monthly team are former caddies, his answer certainly ruffled some feathers within the office... As for the rest of the show, we have a Kick Point first - we talk about a club we've BOTH reviewed! Yes, I've taken a break from shoes and bags and been thrown in the deep end to discuss the PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver - are mini drivers worth it or simply a bit of a marketing gimmick? We discuss. We discuss club gapping on this week's 'Ask The Pod' as we answer listener questions before diving into our latest What's In The Bag and taking a closer look into the equipment used by Ryder Cup star Max Homa following his move to Cobra for the 2025 season. This Friday episode starts with some football whimsy - Andy is pumped about the Bears acquiring two high-priced offensive guards to start their offseason! The whimsy continues into golf talk as Aldrich Potgieter topped his drive into the lake on the sixth hole at Bay Hill, providing a must-see moment for Andy and Brendan on Thursday morning. High winds in Orlando led to a brutal first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. TGL stars Max Homa, Cam Young, Min Woo Lee, and Tom Kim were among the many players well over par after round one, leading to questions about whether these players are better suited for the SoFi Dome vs. outdoor golf. Elsewhere in pro golf, Andy shares an unsubstantiated rumor about a PR Open participant who may be playing games with his PGA Tour pension. This episode is mostly news-based as Andy and Brendan discuss recent comments from Rory McIlroy and Jay Monahan surrounding the current state of the PGA Tour. Rory says he isn't sure the PGA Tour "needs" a deal with the PIF at this point, which brings back memories from last year's comments from Jordan Spieth in a similar vein. Jay was interviewed by Eamon Lynch about a potential deal, the Tour's search for a new CEO, and more, with plenty to unpack for Andy and Brendan. Following this lengthy news discussion, Brendan dives into a Flashback about Jerry Heard, a two-time winner of the Florida Citrus Open (now known as the Arnold Palmer Invitational), whose successful pro career was derailed by a lightning strike.

I'm your host, Will Doctor. Nice to have you with us as I bring you the sharpest picks..." Key Point: Will sets the tone by emphasizing precision in betting strategies and reflects an optimistic outlook despite prior losses. Reflection on Poor Start to the Season (0:39-38:17): "We are down 13 units through two weeks of the 2025 PGA Tour season in what has been an unacceptable start..." Analysis: A candid admission of struggles in early predictions, emphasizing accountability and intent to improve through research-backed picks. Highlight on Nick Taylor's Recent Victory: "Nick Taylor was the eventual champion... picking up PGA Tour win number five in a playoff." Significance: Taylor's playoff prowess is underlined, but concerns are raised about his ability to maintain momentum post-victory. Player Statistics and Analysis Nick Dunlop: Defending champion of the American Express at age 21. Two-time PGA Tour winner, aiming to become the second youngest back-to-back titleholder. Strong recent performance at the Sony Open, finishing T-10. Insight: Dunlop is considered a strong pick due to his putting ability and course familiarity. Sam Burns: Displayed stellar putting performance historically at the American Express. Weakness: Recent struggles with iron play. Recommendation: Top-10 finish at +215 odds as a safer bet than outright victory. Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay: Both are highlighted for past consistency but criticized for poor putting performances that could hinder contention at the Amex. Sung J.M.: History of strong starts at the American Express, consistently finishing in the top 25. Struggles to maintain momentum across all four rounds, making him a less favorable pick for outright betting. Tom Kim: Recent inconsistency with missed cuts in 2 of 3 appearances at the Amex. Verdict: Avoid betting on Kim this week. Team Statistics and Insights TGL Match 2: Los Angeles Golf Club (Justin Rose, Colin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala) faces Jupiter Links Golf Club (Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner, Max Homa). Prediction: Los Angeles Golf Club is expected to win due to the sharper form of its players. Kevin Kisner's poor equipment choice and Max Homa's putting issues weaken Jupiter Links' prospects. Tournament Courses: The American Express is held across three player-friendly courses in Palm Springs, known for easy fairways and emphasis on putting and approach play. Key Betting RecommendationsMatchups: Nick Dunlop over Curt Kittiyama and Nick Taylor. Michael Thor B. Olson over Adam Svensson. Outrights: Nick Dunlop (60:1) and Tom Hoagie (66:1) are recommended outright picks. Special Picks: Sam Burns for a Top-10 finish (+215). Sung J.M. as the First Round Leader (+1100). Sleeper Pick: Jackson Suber for a Top-20 finish (+450). Speaker Names and Timestamps Will Doctor (0:14-0:30): Introduces the show. This marked the debut show for 5 Clubs on Golf Channel and our first guest was none other than World #1 golfer Nelly Korda. She joined Gary Williams to talk about her memorable 2024 season as well as what is in store for 2025. Gary also discussed the record-setting performance of Hideki Matsuyama at The Sentry, his observations from the first week back on the men's side and what to make of just how good Scottie Scheffler has been the past few years.
Andy and Brendan went live on YouTube as the first round of the 2025 PGA Tour season wrapped. With round one of The Sentry (hard stop) over, they share their observations on both the on-course product and the shiny new features that the Tour's new billion dollar studio brought to the broadcast. "Walk and talks" returned in full force, with Peppy Peter getting the honor of the first interview of the season and JT confirming that Kapalua does go uphill. Will Zalatoris bulked up and finished his round at -8, good enough to be one off the lead, and Andy is impressed with his new look and reasoning behind the added weight. Tom Hoge is your leader heading into Friday and Brendan shares that Hawaii has absolutely nowhere for Tommy Tables to gamble tonight in celebration. The two discuss the big "free agent" moves off the offseason, with Max Homa signing with Lululemon and Cobra, and Akshay Bhatia moving to Travis Mathew. These partnerships are "redefining" what it means for brands to work with players and Andy applauds Homa's Thursday performance with so much change going on around him. Before getting into some news, Andy stops to rehash the Cheez It Bowl, won by the Illini, and Bret Bielema trying to fight Shane Beamer. In news, Brendan and Andy discuss Xander saying the US Ryder Cup team will be donating their pay to charity and Jonathan Wall's report that TGL players are toying with new, longer drivers in order to have better results on the giant screen. To wrap, Brendan shares a listener email about a magic show with a possible celebrity appearance.
Akshay Bhatia rejoins The Loop podcast after his breakout 2024 to discuss his crazy year. He talks about his win at the Valero Open, the whirlwind journey to get to Augusta National, playing practice rounds with Phil Mickelson and being introduced to his ‘cheat code,' and much more. Plus, The Loop boys make their 2025 major predictions!
Why did one of the tour's best decide to change gear brands after a decade? Homa joins to detail his Cobra switch, the deal-sealing club, testing and more.

The 2024 Year in Review comes to an end with this final installment covering golf's ultimate prize, the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Before the Year in Review kicks off, Andy and Brendan react live to the end of the PNC Championship as Team Langer took down Team Woods in a one-hole playoff down in Florida. There's also some Swag Sports Minute chatter early in the show with another losing Sunday from the Bears, Browns, and Jets. The Year in Review finale begins with Brendan researching the happenings at TPC Initech as part of the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Hideki Matsuyama ran away with the win, but Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, and Jordan Spieth struggled to find any form in Memphis. Brendan also shares some laughs from the U.S. Amateur and the NFL preseason. PJ then leads the way for the second stage of the playoffs, a Keegan Bradley win at Castle Pines for the BMW Championship. Scottie got angry at the course, Billy Boy was nervous about protecting the points, and Lydia Ko won the Women's Open at St Andrews. Finally, as always, Andy dedicated his time to researching the Net Tour Championship, the cherry on top of Scottie Scheffler's 2024 season. He recaps the Creator Classic, Jay Monahan's State of the Tour presser, and the ridiculousness of the "FedEx Starting Strokes" branding. We hope you enjoyed all nine episodes reviewing the amusing, inane, and extraordinary moments from another year of golf.
At long last, it's major season on the 2024 Year in Review! Back from the Hero World Challenge interlude, Andy and Brendan resume the Year in Review and get through the year's first major, Scottie Scheffler's second Masters win. Andy begins the show by remembering Peppy Peter Malnati's victory at the Valspar, his first PGA Tour win in nine years. Peppy Peter is moved to tears in his post-round interview, and finally plays in his first Masters tournament a few weeks later. Brendan then moves through the Texas Children's Houston Open, where Stephan Jaeger secured his permanent call-up from AAAA player, outlasting Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, Tosti Boy, and more. Tosti becomes a national name this week, and Andy and Brendan remember the finest Tosti Tales from earlier this year. PJ jumps in to recap Akshay's shoulder-popping win at Valero, Anthony Kim's "vaguely remembering" Tiger's 2019 Masters win, and a thrilling ANWA finish. From there, it's a group effort on the Masters, covering Monday's total eclipse, Zach Johnson (not) cursing at patrons, and Scottie pulling away from the pack on Sunday after weekend charges from Ludvig Åberg, Collin Morikawa, and Max Homa.
