The Break80 Podcast made its way to Florida for the 2026 PGA Show in Orlando. It was our first time at the PGA Show and we were both floored and overwhelmed with this golf industry insiders event. Around 1 million square feet of golf industry stuff was there. From clothes and apparel to clubs and technology, we will talk about all that we saw and did at our first ever PGA Show. While in Florida we went and played Cabot Citrus Farms and Streamsong. Both courses and properties were amazing and we will break down everything we thought about them, including some wild nature out at Streamsong. Last but not least, it was another win for Scottie Scheffler, which is becoming the norm for the world number one player. We will give our reactions to his win and the event, which included an impressive showing for 18-year old, Blades Brown. Subscribe to the Break80 Podcast on Apple or Spotify for weekly golf content. Boomer criticized Alex Rodriguez's past coddling. The Mets lost 2 of 3 to the Giants. Jerry Jones dismissed Micah Parsons' trade request, which Boomer disagreed with. The segment concluded with a Cameron Young anecdote and a Marlins fan's gratitude. Hour 2 Gio and Boomer won't go to Streamsong due to show obligations. A caller whose invitation was read loves the show, and another woman made her husband take her last name. Callers want Yankees changes, with Boomer suggesting behind-the-scenes adjustments. Hour 3 Aaron Glenn's emotional reaction to becoming Jets' head coach split Boomer and Gio: Boomer preferred a Bill Parcells-like stoicism, while Gio found Glenn's display a positive for modern times. They discussed the Yankees' struggles, with Gio doubting Aaron Boone's mid-season firing but expecting it if they miss playoffs. A-Rod and Jeter criticized the Yankees' mistakes and lack of accountability. The Mets also had a bad weekend, leading Boomer to suggest moving Frankie Montas to the bullpen. Micah Parsons' trade request involved Jerry Jones, Dez Bryant, and Nicki Minaj. Gio's wife is unhappy with his frequent golfing. The final segment explained Nicki Minaj's involvement in the Cowboys/Dez Bryant/Roc Nation dispute. Hour 4 The struggling Yankees are in danger of missing the playoffs, leading Boomer to question the team's future and challenge Aaron Judge to lead. Boomer and Grok discuss the ideal Yankees lineup. Hour 1 It was a "Feel Good" Friday post-trade deadline. Boomer praised Brian Cashman for the Yankees acquiring three relievers. Gio appreciated both the Yankees' and Mets' aggressive, prospect-preserving deadline moves. Boomer predicted a Yankees surge. Boomer was upset with Gio over a fried cannoli bet. Both agreed their teams met deadline needs. Jerry recapped the busy deadline (50+ trades, 100+ players moved, Jose Caballero traded mid-game). Boomer wanted David Stearns close-ups due to his height, while Jerry wished he was taller. Mikal Bridges took a discount for his extension to keep the Knicks under the second apron. The NFL preseason started with the Hall of Fame game. Finally, Boomer and Gio discussed the enduring impact of Russell Wilson's "Mr. Unlimited" video after Gio interviewed him, and Boomer interviewed John Randle for "Gametime." Hour 2 Boomer and Gio discuss flash flooding, Boomer's best teammate (Anthony Munoz), Robin Ventura's fight with Nolan Ryan, the 1999-2000 Mets, and BT and Sal's "going to town" phrase. Yankees acquired Jose Caballero, while the Mets traded for Cedric Mullins. Terry McLaurin wants a trade from the Commanders. Gio looks forward to Streamsong and Pebble Beach, and a caller suggests a golf psychology book for them. Hour 3 Gio's changing weather preference, McLaurin trade thoughts, Hard Knocks' Damar Hamlin spotlight, Yankees win, MLB trade deadline games, Mets playing time, Correa to Astros, C-Mac and Big Zoo's late-night talk, Jaxson Dart's learning from Zach Wilson, Jets fan's McLaurin opinion, Giants fan's Russell Wilson observation, and Boomer's take on Russell Wilson's motivation. Hour 4 Boomer and Gio discuss Aaron Rodgers, the Jets' Madden ratings, and a golf tournament win. Jerry grades the Yankees' and Mets' trade deadline moves. The Yankees won their third straight. Mikal Bridges extended with the Knicks. Joe Schoen addresses Giants roster flaws. The Moment of the Day: Gio reenacts a BT and Sal argument. In the final segment, Gio foresees a Yankees-Astros postseason collision, while Boomer believes bullpen additions suffice. Bullpens are increasingly vital in modern baseball. Jerry's update covers the Yankees' win, Austin Wells' baserunning error, Anthony Volpe's HR, and trades for Austin Slater and Mets relievers Ryan Helsley and Tyler Rogers. Coach Brian Daboll talks about leading his QB room and preparing for the season, his good relationship with John Mara, and no added pressure. Daboll likes Jaxson Dart and is excited to coach Abdul Carter, also asking about Streamsong in September. Hour 3 Giants camp has a different vibe this year; while expectations are high, the team has the talent to meet them. Gio likes the Giants' roster but cautions about the tough NFC East. Free agent Jevon Holland joined Boomer & Gio, where Holland discussed the Giants' defense. Holland is Canadian, and Boomer associates him with that. Gio remembers Holland's 100-yard return of Tim Boyle's "Fail Mary" TD in the infamous Jets Black Friday game. Jerry returns with an update, and the guys are reminded of Jerry's first TV play-by-play with analyst Shaun O'Hara. Boomer speculates on what's next. Deion Sanders got emotional about making a will. Boomer and Gio have better flight seats to Pebble Beach. Moment of the Day: Gio and Russell Wilson recreate Mr. Unlimited. Jerry wanted Paul Goldschmidt to improve at first base. The Mets' heart of the order struggled in a 7-1 loss. After a chair swap, Gio reviewed what he missed due to car issues. Juan Soto left with an injury but isn't concerned. A dildo appeared at a WNBA game. Trey Hendrickson ended his holdout. Finally, Boomer and Gio advise a caller on his first golf outing. Hour 3 Gio is surprised Mets fans want Luis Robert Jr., while Boomer and Gio agree the Mets can't give up on Mark Vientos despite his struggles. Boomer is intrigued by trading for Robert Jr. if it doesn't cost Vientos, and wants to see the Mets add pitchers. He believes the Mets will eventually have to move on from one of the young infielders. Is Steven Kwan a better target? Gio wonders why Rob Manfred was in the Phillies clubhouse. Jerry provides an update, but first, Boomer asks which Mets third baseman would be easiest to trade: Ronny Mauricio, Brett Baty, or Mark Vientos? Gio says Baty, Jerry says Vientos. Gio will not be happy if the Mets trade Mauricio or Vientos. The Mets lost their final late-night game. Juan Soto's foot X-rays were negative. Gio observed something new about Dave Sims. Anthony Volpe's bat contributed to a win, but his glove did not. Getting traded must be difficult. Boomer thinks the NBA could expand into Europe. In the final segment, Gio shares an update on trying to go to Streamsong the weekend of NFL Week 1. They could do the show from the resort on Monday, but not Tuesday. The alternate who would go if Boomer and Gio can't calls in, encouraging them to make the trip. Hour 4 Boomer and Gio discuss Giants and Jets camp, with the show at Giants camp tomorrow. On this episode of the Club + Resort Talks podcast, Rob Thomas spoke with Jake Gordon, CEO & Co-Founder of Noteefy, about how golf courses can drive more revenue with less effort. KemperSports, Landscapes Golf Management, Streamsong, and Sand Valley, to name a few, have already partnered with Noteefy. A few of the highlights: - Drive incremental revenue: Noteefy gives every golfer their own personal assistant to help find tee times at your course. This enables golfers to play more, with less effort - delivering increased revenue; - Decrease unfilled cancellations: By some estimates, over 20% of online tee times get canceled and go unfilled for busy daily fee courses. This is leaving up to $50,000 in revenue on the table for operators; and - Improve customer experience: The process of endlessly calling and refreshing to find tee times is frustrating and archaic. With Noteefy, tee times are seamlessly delivered to the customers. Rob and Senior Editor Phil Keren also discussed what the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course is planning to engage residents during the winter season. Also, The Club at Olde Cypress is readying for a grand transformation. A multi-million-dollar clubhouse renaissance at the Naples, Fla. club will redefine luxury living in Southwest Florida. Among the many highlights of the project are the addition of a 2,500-sq.-ft. covered bar and dining area on the first floor and anew 2,000 sq. ft. kitchen to support the casual and fine dining options Executive Chef Caesar Fernandez and his team serve daily. Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, N.Y. unveils golf course transformations, clubhouse upgrades, and a new pickleball facility. Recent endeavors at the club have centered around a new vision that encapsulates their core values—remain a family-focused, golf-first club that offers a member experience unparalleled in the marketplace. Last, but not least, Rob and Phil discussed the exciting Model Club initiative and encouraged viewers to visit www.clubandresortbusiness.com to learn more about the honored Pro Shops.

Colin Burns had only 4.5 years of experience in hospitality when he applied for the club manager's position at Winged Foot, one of the most storied private golf clubs in the nation, if not the world. And, after an eight-month search process, he was selected as the club's next general manager – all 31 years ago when Colin had just crossed the line into his thirties. He recalls the president of the club asking him if Colin weren't a tad young for the job. Colin replied: It's not a permanent condition. As we watch a generation of these long-serving club managers move into retirement or consulting – in addition to Colin, we lost Brian Kroh just this month at John's Island Club in Vero Beach, Florida – we are left with a legacy from which we can all learn. Colin's experience is second to none. He managed the US Open during the height of Covid. Five full years of planning all going down the drain as he had to work with the Governor of New York and plan the tournament without spectators as Bryson DeChambeau put his indelible mark on the sport. Now as he joins executive search firm GGA, Colin discusses how every club has a different environment and that search committees, managers and search firms should understand the club's culture first before trying to match a candidate to the club. Do Things with People, Not to Them If you really desire a quality organization you should do things with people, not to them. Burns has put this as his central motif throughout his career. And, with that teamwork sentiment, Colin points out that the hierarchy of a private members club staff doesn't always equate to salary levels. The director of golf, tennis, squash, or even agronomy, may indeed be the highest paid member of staff at many clubs. And what's even more meaningful to club staff members than base compensation? Housing is top of Colin's list and finds it the top of his staff members' list as well. Retiring To a Zenith at Apogee And finally, Apogee means zenith or the highest point of development – and Colin's new project is certainly a zenith of physical land development and a highlight of a continuing, outstanding career. Originally named COO for an incredible project based in Hobe Sound, Florida, now senior advisor, Colin is truly excited about Apogee. It's a three-course extravaganza – or as he calls it “Streamsong on Steroids.” Designers Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner, Mike Davis and Tom Fazio and Kyle Phillips have teamed up with financial backing from Dolphins owner Steve Ross. Colin takes us through the plans and the vastness of this incredible project, and how this team is betting on South Florida moving up to Martin County in the very near future beyond Jupiter and toward sleepy Stuart.

The 54-hole event was played on the championship courses at the Tryall Club, Cinnamon Hill and Half Moon. C+RB Senior Editor joined the podcast to discuss some recent news from around the industry, such as a development proposal that may consolidate two Florida courses (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/dev.... A large-scale redevelopment proposal would create a hybrid 18-hole layout between Lake Wales Country Club and the adjacent Oakwood golf course community in Lake Wales, Fla. If approved, the project would add up to 1,424 new homes, townhomes, cottages and apartments. Also, Grey Oaks Country Club recently completed a renovation of its Pine Course (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/gre.... The Naples, Fla. club enlisted renowned golf course restoration specialist Andrew Green for the project. The renovation now offers enhanced aesthetics with strategic bunker placement, challenging green surrounds and larger greens for a variety of pin placements. “The course design reflects the latest trends to give a lot more open space around the green, and that means golfers will have a lot of variety to approach the shot,” said Marty DeAngelo, Senior Director of Golf at Grey Oaks. Lastly, Keren and Thomas talked about Streamsong readying to unveil The Chain (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/str....
